How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe dorm room was quite roomy but if it is a full house I think it would get pretty stuffy, and with only one bathroom it would not be ideal. The terrace was really good, hammocks up there, and it overlooks the football pitch. The AC was on at night, so i would suggest getting a bed close to the AC. The kitchen looked pretty good, there is a laundromat next door charging 25MXP per kilo.
The town itself is a bit on the dull side. Far from the beaches.

Verified reviewThe private room was fairly clean and was quiet at night. The ceiling fan sufficed to cool the room, and the air conditioner was rarely needed. It was nice to be able to hang a few clothes to dry on the rooftop clotheslines. The kitchen was well stocked. Maribel promptly answers the door if the main door is closed.
There were some cockroaches in the bathroom. No shampoo was provided. The common areas are prone to mosquitoes.

Verified reviewGood solid booking in la Crucecita. Nice check-in and out. Very comfortable bed, clean, well-stocked kitchen, excellent location close to everything. The staff are doing a great job and are very helpful and professional.
The private room I was given backed onto the street which was quite noisy but bearable. The wifi is very spotty and weak. It was down for most of the day. Not great if you need to work.

Verified reviewLocation excellent! Comfy bed. Kitchen facilities, common area, hammock on terrace. Clean. Very secure digs. Staff sooooo lovely and chatty. They'd speak English and I replied in Spanish. The main woman I don't think speaks English but she was pleasant enough.
I can't justify disliking anything other than I didn't meet any other international travellers.

Verified reviewGreat location in Crucecita you can walk to some places like the market, bars and restaurants and the main boulevard (Chahué) is close too. Confortable beds, good shower, good internet signal (just in the lobby). People running the hotel/hostel are very kind. Very clean, I recommend this place a lot.
Internet could be better covering the whole property but is not 100% necessary. There was a charge paying with card so making a transfer is more convenient (free of charge). Next to a park with sports facilities becomes something good and bad at the same time, very nice view (behind the hostel) to the soccer field and threes but when there are local leagues playing could be very noisy since very very early in the morning.

Verified reviewCheck in was unable to be paid with a credit card unless they added 5%. Highway robbery. Still charged a higher amount than quoted on booking. Despite 13 nights, receptionist wanted to charge me more each time I changed towels. 4 times in 13 days? Cheap. Over 40 degrees centigrade outside and even hotter inside. Wanna die? No need to go to KSA for Haji, stay here! Owner refuses to turn on ac in bunk room unless there are more than 5 occupants. she definitely would prefer to deal with the fallout from someone dying or needing the ER from heat exhaustion. Passed out a few times from the heat. It was obvious that I was getting seriously ill, but I was ignored the entire time. the staff even turned off the fans while I was passed out. A miracle I did not have a heart attack. Abusive bullying situation by owner who made an appt with me and then blew me off. Avoid this death trap.

Verified reviewThe dorm is very spacious and so is the bathroom. The night receptionist was very kind and helpful. The kitchen is the largest and best equipped one I have ever found in a hostel.
It’s around 20 min from the beach (but close to the city centre).

Verified reviewEverything was great, friendly, helpful and professional staff, facilities kept very clean, good large well equipped kitchen. Nice chill out area on the roof overlooking the public football pitch. Not a very social/traveller hostel so maybe not so good for solo travellers but had everything we needed and definitely recommend.
