How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe loved the old world charm, artifacts, architecture of the property and spaciousness of the rooms. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and each morning we ate there. The fire was lit which created a great atmosphere. It was wonderful to be cool at night and not need ceiling fans and to be able to use blankets.
We knew it was not in the centre of San Chris so needed to use taxis or collectivos to get into the centre. The collectives were easy to get and close to hotel to hail. We would have loved staff to have indicated this to us but as we did not have Spanish tips did not easily flow.. we arrived early evening to find the restaurant not open and it only appe as Red to open Saturd as you night when there were enough people . This did lead to a very interesting experience of eating locally. A bit tricky when one is a vegetarian.

Verified reviewThe hotel's decor is its highlight - there are numerous antiques that harken back to colonial days. The staff are friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. The location is about a 25-30 minute walk to town which can be a bit much especially during the heat of the day, but the bus stops right out front and it's easy to hail a cab too. Make sure to negotiate and confirm the price BEFORE starting the cab trip!
The room got extremely cold at night and there isn't any heating except blankets. There is a functioning fireplace in the restaurant however the one in the photos of the rooms is just decorative 🥶 Also there's nothing insulating the noisy rooms - it seems like people are sitting right next to you when they are talking on the phone or with each other.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious and the bed SO comfortable! One of the best we've slept in during our trip and it had a duvet, much needed since the room is quite cold (which is great for sleeping and in general wasn't that bothersome for us). There was purified water in a tap in our room, which was so nice! Helpful and kind staff. The whole place was so beautiful and well decorated.
The TV is as old as they get, why the signal wasnt great and the picture very "moshy". The breakfast takes a long time to be ready (the one with pancakes). The continental is just a bunch of dry, sad pieces of bread - nothing to brag about. The rooms aren't very sound isolated. We had a very loud family in the room beside us, where we could hear them all up until 11pm both nights.

Verified reviewIt is like to go back in time to 1900, due to its decoration.
If you want to take a shower early morning, you need to tell the staff so you have hot water.

Verified reviewA really nice hotel and quiet. The staff was great and helpful.
For breakfast the restaurant had limited options for the menu including coffee, fruit salad, and eggs, since the eggs could only be scrambled with a few options.

Verified reviewCant describe how beautiful this place is. Upon arrival we spent the first 30 minutes taking pictures and videos of every corner. The room was spacious and smelt of winterspice, absolutely delighted. The restaurant has a lovely fireplace they light up at breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was delicious (tried omelette and pancakes called hot cakes here), dinner as well. Parking available on site
Unfortunately there is no heating, therefore the room is freezing late in the night and early morning. The accommodation is a bit far from the city centre, driving may not be the best option because of traffic and difficulties of parking, but collectivos pass just ourside the hotel and it only costs 8 pesos per ride.

Verified reviewIdyllic hotel, garden, and room with a comfortable bed. The location is great as well (short and cheap bus/cab ride). The staff is very friendly. They even provide drinkable water in the room, which is a big plus in San Cristobal. I would stay here again for sure.
Nothing!

Bad location, exterior wall to street in very bad shape, it looks like a cheap motel. Toilet has no cover, the sink are inside the shower! I had to check out earlier and the front desk was rude and dining over the feont desk!
