Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

AustraliaWe had booked 2 x one night stays, one at the beginning and one at the end of our Malawi trip. We stayed at this accommodation on arrival and liked it very much. However, a few days after we stayed, the host cancelled our second booking, saying she had received a longer booking that ran over our booked night. Whilst I can understand that the host wants the best financial deal for her, it means I would not recommend this accommodation for short stays as you might be left with nowhere to sleep. Another issue is that when we paid for our one night, we came to a mutually agreeable arrangement for payment. When she cancelled our second booking though, I received an odd private message, indirectly criticising me for our arrangement. At the time, the host didn’t hesitate and seemed very happy with our arrangement. This left me with a bad feeling. One final point is that the information given about the accommodation’s location isn’t correct. The map shows it as closer to the centre, and the ‘distance from’ section has it in the centre. It is in fact, just 4 minutes from the airport, quite a distance from the centre of Blantyre.
It is difficult to rate this accommodation. On the positive side, it is spacious, quiet, very clean and comfortable. The host seemed to be friendly and accommodating. The meals were very good. It is also very close to the airport, making it a good location for early flights.

South AfricaThe host was a bit too much in our space. I understand that she is new to this but she can give her guests a bit of privacy.
It would be helpful for the if Violet hires a professional Housekeeper and cook who will be at the property early to ensure that a proper professional breakfast is made as well aws the house is the clean.

NetherlandsAt first our host was very kind and helpful until it came about the topic of paying. As the reservation said ‘pay at accommodation’ we assumed to pay in cash or otherwise via the app. As our host was not in the country so we made an agreement over the phone to pay in cash and leave it with the guard. After we left she changed her behavior telling me I had not paid enough money. She put my booking on a no show which was incorrect. I would not recommend booking this accommodation as the host is not straight about payment nor fair afterwards.
The house was spacious and the people working there were very kind and helpful.
