Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Our second visit to Veligandu Maldives Resort was extraordinary, perfectly celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. General Manager Fathuhulla Ibrahim and his exceptional team created an unforgettable experience through outstanding leadership and genuine hospitality. Exceptional Service Resort Manager Adam was consistently accessible and responsive, while Lifestyle Host Zaha provided warm hospitality and invaluable local knowledge that enhanced our appreciation of this beautiful destination. Culinary Excellence The dining experience exceeded expectations, with Head Chef Hadi at Madivaru Silk Restaurant delivering consistently exceptional cuisine. His engaging personality and professional approach made every meal memorable, while the variety and quality throughout the resort were outstanding. Outstanding Amenities Our newly renovated Ocean Pool Villa was stunning, offering the perfect blend of luxury and comfort. Thundi Bar became our favourite gathering spot, with attentive staff providing excellent service. Special Touches The anniversary celebration was magical, featuring beautifully presented cakes, champagne, and exquisite bed decorations. Complimentary beach bags, T-shirts, and laundry service added thoughtful value. Activities and Wellness We enjoyed excellent snorkelling, kayaking with morning exercise routines, and spa services including massages and yoga classes. The seaplane transfers were coordinated with impressive efficiency. Final Verdict Veligandu sets the gold standard for hospitality excellence, combining outstanding staff, superb cuisine, and excellent facilities. While we've visited other Maldivian resorts, Veligandu stands apart for its unique blend of professional service and genuine warmth. We're already planning our return and wholeheartedly recommend this resort for an unforgettable Maldivian experience.

RussiaIt's second time we visit Veligandu and first time after renovation. Everything was great. The house reef is wondreful with many turtles, rays, lots of fishes. Dive center is great providing many options even for the beginners. We took dolphin cruise and it was great experience, Food at Dhonveli restaurant (buffet) is various and delicious with some special theme every evening. The whole island is calm and great for leisure. Surely will return here again!

BulgariaThere is not enough staff in the resort. The staff at the bar and restaurants is new and disoriented. They are mistaking the orders and you need to be very patient with them. The beach villas are small and there is no privacy with the beach villas. They are missing umbrellas. The pricing at this place is very strange - they give you a massage for free and at the same time you have to “rent” a life vest 5USD per day. You need to pay for your own safety basically but not for something like floating breakfast for another example.
The new water villas with pool are very comfortable. Nice beach, very good quality of alcohol, good massages, a lot of complimentary activities, beautiful laguna, nice bar. No mosquitos! The doctor in the resorts clinic is really careful and knowledgeable. Our host Naveen made our stay he was very nice and professional.

SingaporeFood - food was ok and what I’ve come to expect from these resorts. Decent selection at buffet for breakfast. Our butler though scheduled us dinner at the same restaurant for 2 nights in a row and we also had lunch there (to get a break from the buffet) only to find out it was the same menu. Having some more variation in the menu would be good. Even if it was between the lunch and dinner menu. I find that food in these high end resorts is never the value you pay for but this was ok. Just not the variation and some dishes were very disappointing. I was ok with it but my foodie loving group have higher expectations which is valid. No Bikes - if you’re in the new ocean villas then it can be a long walk. Would be good to have bikes like other resorts. They do provide buggy rides which is good but not always available when you need and sometimes you do want to go yourself. Excursions - I thought were quite over priced. We did the Adventure snorkelling which was not cheap for what it is. But was a great experience and we enjoyed. Please though include the taxes in the price as not transparent at all what the final price will be. Communication - although staff are very helpful and polite, communication was sometimes poor. Our seaplane timing was never confirmed or updated. I had to call the resort as I was getting on our plane to Male to get the details. We booked a HIIT session on the beach and turned up to nothing only to be told it was cancelled. The cancellation was never informed to us. We were not aware that lunch had to make booking. Were made to feel that we were not welcome to eat there when we asked for a table without a booking. Villa - two bed villa is amazing although would be better if it had a shared decking. Can see why they built as they have (so they can split into individual villas when needed) but having one big deck with a bigger pool would have been perfect for a group booking.
Room - we stayed in two bed sunset ocean villa. Plenty of room, modern and good indoor design. Big TV’s, comfortable bed, good outdoor space. Very private and really felt our own. Me and my group loved it. Location - nice that away from Male but not too far that the seaplane takes forever. Also some neighbouring islands for other snorkelling spots Staff - everyone friendly and helpful Snorkelling - house reef was actually really good, especially on the east side. Lot of fish, eels, sharks, etc. Island - not too big so never felt crowded, even when they said they were nearly full during our stay. Really felt quiet, calm and relaxing. Good beach and different areas.

RomaniaJust want to start by saying this is the best resort we stayed in the Maldives. We stayed for 7 nights in the 203 Sunset Ocean Pool Villa, and it didn't disappoint. The villa is huge and brand new with lots of amenities. The sunset view is simply amazing. The minibar is filled daily with bottles of wine, (red, white, rose), prossecco and spirits. Housekeeping was great, the room was kept very clean throughout the entire stay. Food was varied and delicious, and the service was excellent. Special thanks to Naeem in the restaurant for the little gift he gave us to bring back to the kids. There is a wide variety of beverages you can choose from (alcoholic and non alcoholic), cocktails are really good. The a la carte restaurants are also very good, especially Raalhu. Another special thanks to Yabo, our island guide who has helped us since day one. The reef around the island is pretty good and you have lots of places to snorkel. Although I believe the island was fully booked, it didn't seem crowded at all, we always had a feeling of tranquility throughout the island (be it restaurants, beaches, bars). We're definitely planning to return there and hope to get a deal similar to the one we got this year, as the prices have sky rocketed for next year. Thank you again to the entire Veligandu crew who made our vacation so remarkable.

AustraliaThis was our second time visiting Veligandu, and it still exceeded all of our expectations!! The resort is relaxing, quiet, and luxurious!! We love walking through the lush garden pathways leading to the restaurant . The house reef has a huge variety of reef fish as well as turtles, reef sharks, and rays. Snorkelling was very relaxing! We stayed in the sunrise water Villa this time and this suits us best as we could then sit on the back deck over the water in the shade in the afternoon. The sunrises were beautiful! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you to our host Shaalee for looking after us so well and accommodating all of our requests. Dhonveli Restaurant has a fantastic buffet selection catering for dietary needs and various cuisine. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable. Thank you to chef Suresh for cooking me the perfect eggs every morning! A special thank you to Shayan who was very thoughtful, attentive, and always making sure we were comfortable. We loved our daily chats with you! Thank you, Veligandu. We felt very special and spoilt and look forward to returning one day :)

The room (water villa with pool) was fabulous. Clean, comfortable, great mini bar. The dine around restaurants and buffet all excellent. Lovely cocktails and wines. The house reef was good enough for an hour snorkelling every day, we saw turtles, eagle rays, reef sharks, sting rays, and tons of fish. Great spa treatments, great paddle boarding and kayaking.

NorwayWould be important to give all guests more information about the importance of corals and how to behave in the reef. Sad to see destructive behavior (standing on corals etc) that destroys what makes this place so special.

United KingdomWe spent a long time waiting for the seaplane both ways, not the resort’s fault
We had an amazing week, beyond words. The buffet is definitely a highlight: very high quality and diverse food, we looked forward to it every day. Especially the cake section, and the different cuisines! The house reef is not great but I knew that before booking - the snorkeling excursions more than make up for it, on the nurse sharks and turtle ones we were taken to some amazing reef nearby. The ocean centre staff goes above and beyond to make sure they find you that sealife. We also got to see plenty of marine life from our deck, sting rays, eagle rays, black tip sharks and jellyfish. We stayed in a sunset ocean villa and it was absolute perfection, it has a net where I spent many hours looking at the water. We tried the pool villas as well, but much preferred the original ones which had a more natural feel and were closer walking distance. Also loved the yoga pavilion, the gym and the massages. Spent a lot of time researching resorts and I chose Veligandu mainly because it seemed to tick most of my boxes, and it did - small size to not feel crowded and walkable everywhere, amazing food, gorgeous beach area, a range of activities and excursions, beautiful ocean villas, and reasonable price for what you get. Overall an amazing stay I will remember for the rest of my life, thank you for all the experiences!

United KingdomMore affordable drinks. One glass of wine is $16+ dollars and the staff who weren’t as well trained would have made it quite small pour. If your going to drink, would recommend doing the all inclusive Wish the water sports wasn’t as expensive. The diving was absolutely crazy and I am a fully qualified dive master and had to do a pre safety dive wish jumped the price up dramatically. ( this should be included )
Our host Ryan was fantastic! Always clear communication and using WhatsApp for questions and contact was incredible Food was amazing We stayed in both the sunset old and new water bungalows. Both are amazing, all depends on what you prefer. My husband just loved the new modern bungalows but the older ones are still lovely! One thing I would say is if there is a storm, you will sleep better in the modern huts due to the concrete pilling. There is wildlife everywhere! Seen so many sharks and fish. I did the shark dive and really recommend it.

The hotel definitely deserves the 5* rating. Everything from the very beginning to the end was perfect except for the weather (but no one can influence that). Our villa on the water was very luxurious and comfortable. During the entire stay, Zaha watched over us, she was a wonderful host, the best we have ever had. She took great care to make sure we had everything we needed. The food at the hotel was delicious and varied. A large selection of alcohol was also available.

Sweden2 of the restaurants require booking and are often fully booked if not booked in advance. It’s slightly inconvenient to have to plan meals in advance, specially when there is no system showing you the total occupation of the restaurants. There is definitely a bitter sensation when you want to have dinner in an all inclusive plan and your preferred restaurant is full. Water activities are quite expensive and the activities/experiences included in the all-inclusive plan (beach dinner, floating breakfast and local island visit) could definitely be improved, specially since all of them are dependent on weather and can’t be swapped by any other.
Veligandu is an extraordinary resort for people looking for a totally peaceful holiday without people shouting, kids screaming around and loud music. It’s truly heaven if you’re looking for silence and complete relaxation. However if you’re someone looking for some partying and/or want to take small kids with you, this is not the most appropriate resort (fortunately). The best thing about Veligandu is the food. Every single meal is a 10/10, high quality ingredients and carefully prepared meals. It makes Veligandu on par with many fine dining and even Michelin guide restaurants across the world, even beating some of them. After renovations, the facilities and infrastructure turned out incredible, our ocean villa was out of this world, we couldn’t believe it when we walked in. Truly spectacular. The staff is super nice, and a special thanks to Nawal which was in charge of our villa and cleaning services. He did a superb job.
