It is not a 5 star hotel. But it is very decent concidering its cost. So if you are looking for cheap place - Chao Guest House is ok. You will get all the basic needs satisfied plus a transfer to hotel

The rooms need to be renovated!! The boy does not clean the rooms on a good level. The breakfast did not look good and we decided not to try it. Needs to be served on a better level. There are insects in the room.

The owner has the positive attitude to the guests and even upgraded our room with the better one. He always tries to help with the requests. We were on the island for the second time and know a lot about the places. This place is located 12-15 minutes from the bikini beach.

The owner was very attentive and went out of his way to ensure all needs were met. He was quick to respond to messages, helped organise transfers and day trips. The breakfast was good and room had everything one could need, the bed was particularly comfy.

the owner is a cute little man that has a nice way of dealing with people, friendly and easy going. The place is very clean and the room has everything, also a fridge. Quite area of the island close to the mosque. Very helpful and polite staff.

Shower - you could only get hot or cold water from two different shower heads so you had to aim them at each other and mix the two sprays very carefully!

Cheap and cheerful - spotlessly clean and Ahmed was super helpful and friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Basic but welcoming and as clean as a whistle.

I saw many mixed reviews about Chao Guesthouse, but my experience was very very good! I do however think your experience will depend on the room you get, but room 3 was great. I stayed here a total of 10 days and really was comfortable in my place. My room was nice and spacious and was clean! The bedsheets smelt fresh and the bed was comfortable. I had enough space for all my luggage and a place to work at the desk. AC and fan worked and the boy asked often if he could clean my room or if I needed anything. Breakfast was included and yes it is a simple breakfast of toast, eggs, jam, sausages and cornflakes, but compared to other accommodations this is a budget stay so I don't think you should be expecting a top notch buffet. I enjoyed my breakfast and mornings here. The owner Ahmed was super helpful he got back to my messages quickly and helped me with a variety of things like getting cheaper prices on a tour, getting my luggage to and from the jetty, and a couple other errands. I saw a few people be confused about the 4% bankfees charge when paying by card, but this is logical since everywhere on the island if you pay by card you will be charged these fees. I suggest bringing dollars with you to avoid the hassle and just pay in cash. With regards to the wifi the first 2 days I had 30 mbps upload and downdload but then for 6 days the wifi was no more than 2,5 mbps upload and download, luckily on these days I had my 4G tourist sim. On the last days the wifi was strong again. I think this also had to do with the weather. Bikini beach is about a 10 minute walk from this place as it is located on the other side of the island BUT the island is tiny so you won't be walking long. Also the island is very very safe, so even walking in the evenings or night is no big deal. That being said I did see some other guests have issues with their rooms, but nothing that seemed too major to me.

Too far from center and bikini beach. Its really affordable so don't expect too much. Always see the tax its not included when you book so prepare extra cash. Room is pretty spacious.
