How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewDelicious buffet breakfast. Huge dinner menu with a set three course menu for every day of the week which can be combined with courses from a la carte menu. Works on a credit basis if on HB which gives great flexibility of choice. Lovely staff throughout the hotel. Gorgeous bedrooms (very comfortable beds)with roll top baths and outdoor showers. Worth paying extra for a bigger beachfront room. Great yoga and stretch classes included twice a week. Free bikes available for exploring local area.
There is no longer a beach restaurant (ie only one restaurant) so can feel a bit repetitive if there for longer than a week. Food of a very high standard but quite rich. Wine is expensive and bottles often not available.

Verified reviewBeautiful location on the outskirts of Grand Baie with its own private beach area. Unique, chalet style rooms with large bathroom, outside shower and small patio area. Fabulous restaurant serving delicious local and French inspired cuisine. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Afternoon tea and cakes. Hotel shuttle boat across the bay to GB. We used the complimentary bikes to cycle to Trou aux Biches and Cap Malheureux The staff are all friendly, helpful and extremely courteous.
We like to walk but there wasn’t anywhere to really walk to.

We had a serious problem with our room. The general manager resolved this and moved us to a much nicer room but cleaning/maintenance staff should have dealt with the issue before we arrived. The food was very very disappointing and very expensive. Food was a major consideration in picking the hotel. We can't understand what has happened as previous reviews were fantastic. We expected to love this place but would not go back again. Shame!

Verified reviewReally great secluded private beach, great pool area. Lovely fresh rooms, great to have a bath tub too. Lots of free activities which if I had been staying for longer I would have loved to use. Meals were good (I found the allowance with the half board plenty) including afternoon tea and the cocktails, the cacao and scampi linguine was aaaamaaazzzing. Staff super friendly and welcoming.
Nothing to do with the property itself and hard for the hotel to control. But on the Friday and Saturday evenings, and the Sunday morning there was an hour or so of being able to hear loud music off the party boats. I would try and work with the port authorities in the bay to limit the volume these boats can play at. But not a fault of the hotel at all! A couple of other very minor points would be a few more beach and pool towels and despite a do not disturb sign on the door whilst having a bath, room service still knocked to give me my bill for the following day. I would say avoid knocking and also I prefer not to get the bill till I am leaving…particularly for just a couple of nights! All in all though it did not detract from an amazing hotel, just small points to make it absolutely perfect. I hope I get a chance to return, I will be recommending to friends and family.
