It's not 5 star, but I'd rate it 5 star because it's all you need. Spacious room, outdoor patio, stylish bathroom and shower. Close to restaurants and beach.

Good location near the beach, secure property.

Could be cleaner in the room, bedsheets and pillowcases weren’t very clean , had stains on them. The cutlery and cups also weren’t cleaned well. Cup had lipstick marks on it still!

The property itself is decent but not well maintained. For example, the fountain at the front has no water, the shower has no drain cover, the fridge in our room was leaking water. We also had a problem with the sliding door on our balcony - it actually wouldn’t close all the way because the door is slightly too small for the frame! So that was concerning, especially because the balcony was directly connected to the neighbors balcony, only separated by some blinds. It was pretty clean except the shower needed a deep clean - there was some mold in the grout and the shower head was old. Overall it was comfortable and for the price and location it wasn’t a bad experience, I just think the property has been neglected for far too long!

    Property response:

Dear guest, We are very sorry to read your review and learn that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. We apologize for the missing drain cover and the leaking fridge which we will definitely address. On the other hand, we wish to clarify that the fountains not being filled is a conscious choice of our establishment. Since the start of 2025, Mauritius has been facing a severe drought and, as such, we have elected not to fill up the fountains and waterfall so as not to waste water resources that are currently very limited, with water supply cut for many of our countrymen during the day. Concerning the balcony door, after verification, we assure you that the sliding doors do indeed close. Our staff would have been at the ready to assist you had we been informed of any difficulty in operating the doors! We thank you for your feedback. Kind regards, The DodoLalodge team

The room was well attended and clean, beach fantastic

There was no briefing by Lodge Administrator about some other entertaining sides around ,eg we only saw on Sunday as we leave further down on south side there is plenty of boats for hiring for trips and some lot of good restaurants. It must be standard to give visitors induction and briefing about the area especially foreigners

The rooms are comfortable, clean and the balconies are fantastic to have a coffee on in the mornings and a drink at night. It is close to restaurants, shops and the beach. It is also right by the bus stop to Grand baie.

There was no fridge in our room, there is a communal fridge in the communal kitchen but it is rather gross as everyone puts there things in there. Even just a small fridge in the room would be fine, just to put some milk and drinks in.

Good spacious room with a balcony, clean, nice staff, straightforward check in and out. Decent check out time (I’m not a morning person)

No mini fridge. Had to use their common storage to put our food in. I think they may have rats in the common fridge, wether human or non-human is a different question. One of these rats ate my food so be careful

    Property response:

Dear guest, We are very happy to read that you enjoyed the room and our staff! You indeed did not have a mini fridge in your room since you booked a room without kitchenette (mini-fridges are only available in our rooms with kitchenette). We are however quite sorry to hear that someone took your food from the shared kitchen. We put the shared kitchen at the disposal of all our guests, especially those who, like you, booked rooms without kitchenette. It is a common area with free access to all our clients and we thus rely on all our guests for its proper functioning, that is not only cleaning after themselves but, of course, not touching anything we that is not theirs. We are thus quite surprised and sorry to hear that someone has touched your food. We hope that it may simply have been an honest mistake. In any case we apologize for the inconvenience. Yours truly, The DodoLalodge

    N/A

When booking months in advance we specifically indicated not to be allocated ground floor unit but that exactly what we've got, a dark cave, no privacy even in the bathroom, when seated on the porch passing traffic is about 2m from you, and Achtung, electric fence, about a meter. No tropical paradise experience rather that of a detention camp. Pereybere beach is about 200m, small, crowded, unattractive, if needed some shade no other beach in a walking distance. Car is essential here for daily escapes, but again parking is in a short supply. Staff, nice and polite does not apply to arrogant female at the reception doing our check-in.

    Property response:

Dear guest, We thank you for your review but, admittedly, find it a bit one-sided. When making your reservation, you sent us a request indicating that you would rather not have a ground floor room "if possible". We sent back a response and indicated that we noted your preference and would try to assign you a room on the upper floors if there was the occasion. We do not know if this is a misunderstanding arising from the use of a different language but we underline that your message was exactly "Not on the ground floor if possible, please". Your message clearly made it seem like it was not an imperative but a preference ; nowhere did you make it clear that you absolutely had to have a room on the upper floors. First of all, we want to point out that when we receive requests for rooms on a specific floor this is not something that we hundred percent assure but will depend on a case by case basis as this depends on other bookings and room availability on the day of your check-in. If a guest makes it clear that this is a necessity for their booking whether because of a health issue or due to a simple preference, we respond indicating whether it is possible or else, if it is not, the guest is free to cancel. However, once again, this is not the case for you ; not only did your message not indicate that this was a necessity, quite the contrary, the message indicated that this was a preference based on possibility. As such, imagine our surprise on your arrival when, upon learning that your room was on the ground floor, you instantly started raising your voice at our receptionist and claimed that your request was not upon possibility but an imperative. Even when showed your own message, you refused and instantly threatened our receptionist with a "bad review" if an upper floor room was not assigned to you. We are sorry that you did not enjoy the porch but all our rooms face the road. We understand that the electric fence might have thrown you off a little but it is part of the security of the building. We are also quite sad that you did not enjoy Péreybère beach which can be a bit crowded on some days because it is one of the most popular beaches of the island. However, we absolutely do not understand what you mean when you say that there are no other beaches within a walking distance as there are other beaches both to the left and right, accessible by walk. We note that you mention that the staff was nice except for the receptionist, but once again there is no mention of the fact that on your second day, when our cleaning staff came to your room, you asked for the room not to be made and only requested fresh towels then later, the very same day, came and shouted at our staff for not making the room... In fact, the shouting at our staff was so repetitive during your stay that we had to send a word to Booking on the matter. We are genuinely sorry that your stay with us did not go better as we always strive to provide our guest with the best of Mauritian hospitality. We do not know if there was a misunderstanding over the language used but we acted in good faith based upon your message. We hope you were still able to enjoy our island. Sincerely, The DodoLalodge

Located in a quiet side street just off the main road and very close to Pereybere public beach. My room was spotlessly clean and was serviced everyday. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are a handful of restaurants on the main road nearby.
