How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe apartment is more like a studio — very modern and tastefully decorated. The fridge was smaller than I expected, just big enough to fit a large bottle of water. Wi-Fi worked well, and communication with the host was excellent. Since the streets are very narrow, there’s no parking directly on the street. I had to leave the car at a nearby parking lot just outside Mdina, but there was always a spot available before 5 PM. It’s about a 5-minute walk to the apartment through charming little streets. The town of Mdina is just a 7-minute walk away. The apartment also had a power adapter, which was a nice touch. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a bottle of water, a bread roll, and some sachets of Nescafé — a lovely welcome gesture. There’s also a shared terrace, which is beautiful, though I didn’t use it due to the hot weather.
The only thing I missed was a coat rack or a stand where I could hang my jacket and place my bag.

No socket in the bathroom. You hear the church bells even at night. It’s a bit tricky to find even with instructions.

Kindly note that socket outlets in the bathrooms in Malta are not allowed, so you cannot expect something which is not permissible in the first place. Secondly the instructions are crystal clear, we sent you the location via Google Maps and photos to facilitate your check-in. Pity that these instructions weren’t enough for you. Verified reviewApartment was very cute, clean and well equipped. Owners were helpful and made sure everything was fine. It’s located in quite city of Rabat, by walk distance you have beautiful Mdina and bus stops, which you can take to all corners of the island, are also within walking distance. We really enjoyed the stay and totally recommend. Also there is nice rooftop you can enjoy sunset from.

Verified reviewGreat choice for a charming holiday apartment and great value. Everything was perfect and spotlessly clean. Wifi was fast, you have a stocked kitchenette with everything you could need and the apartment felt new and renovated. Host communication was exceptional. They give great detailed instructions with pictures and self checkin is a breeze. Parking (if you drive) is just a short walk away. One thing we really loved and enjoyed was the access to the rooftop deck with a nice table and relaxing sun chairs. Not many apartments you will find will have this kind of outdoor space with a view. Also, the location is exceptional. It's located in the charming city center, but a short walk from Mdina gate which we were surprised was so spectacular. Easy 20 minute drive to the airport and we even took an easy Uber into Valletta so we didn't have to deal with traffic.

Verified reviewApartment is based in very silent walking street 5 min away from Mdina. 4 min away from public bus. Very historic surrounding, pleasant environment. Apartment is small, but it gives everything you need for the stay of 1 or 2 persons. Small kitchen, shower, dishes, iron, hairdryer, you will find everything there. It really feels in the property that it is well managed family business and you feel welcome there. I loved also self check in, all the process of pre arrival communication and code receiving went very well, I really appreciate that. Hosts also answered my questions about city before arrival.
