How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI loved how clean it was and that it had everything I needed. It also had a stunning view of the valley.
The property itself was great no complaints, location is a bit out of the way from the center but with Bolt you can get to any part of the island.

Verified reviewWe had Rosemary room on the top floor (Deluxe Double Room) that was basically whole floor to ourselves. Great thing are two two terraces on each side of the building. Smaller one is looking towards the street but since it is the top floor, it allows for privacy. Large terrace leads from the bedroom and looks over the green valley and villages on the opposite hills. Du to East - West orientation, one is always sunny, while other has some shade. Large bedroom has wardrobes, almost a walk-ins by the size, and a desk. Two large glass doors leading to terrace allow for a lot of light, and it is easily aired. Doors have nets so no bugs and mosquitos can get into the room. Bathroom is spacious and clean, with a lot of amenities. Room has a mini fridge, and Ornella (the owner) keeps it well stocked with soft drinks, sparking water, beer and wine, with roughly the same prices as in bars around the island. Breakfast was very tasty, usually a plate of cheese, meat and vegetable cuts, along with large selection of pastries, cakes, fruit etc. Ornella adapted the breakfast to our dietary needs. Buffet differs from day to day, and it never disappointed. B&B is located half way between Marsalforn and center of Xaghra, and about same distance from Ramla beach. It is 30 minutes walking to each spot, or several bus stops. Busses are running on timetable, but plan ahead if you use them because you'll usually need to change at least one line - to reach most interesting parts of Gozo you'll need under on hour. Alternative - use a taxi or rent a scooter or a bike. If renting a bicycle, consider that Gozo has a lot of hills. Closest bus stop is few minutes away, as well as a well stocked mini market. Ornella was great host, giving us a lot of info about island and its habits, along with making great coffee and cakes for breakfast. Recommended, especially if you use your own form of transport.

Verified reviewGreat location as a base to explore Gozo, very close to Ggantija temple and Ramla Bay. Ta’Giljan is a very well-kept and clean property with amazing valley views and a lovely terrace with swimming pool. Ornella is a wonderful host, she makes you feel very welcome from the moment you step through the door - and she cooks the most delicious breakfasts! We really enjoyed our stay with Ornella and thoroughly recommend staying at Ta’Giljan.

The room was a bit small but it had a very decent balcony that made up for it. There are also larger rooms available.

Verified reviewOrnella is very kind and concerned about details. The room was big and very comfortable. The terrace was big with a beautiful view. It's very peaceful and quiet and we slept like children. The beach is accessible by foot, 20-30 minutes and there's a beautiful trail along the coastline to Marsalforn.
Thank you ☺️

Verified reviewWe stayed here for 5 nights in April 2025. We had a really lovely stay, it's hard to put into words. It really felt like a home from home - Ornella's hospitality is first class, genuine, friendly and attentive, she really cares about her guests experience. The rooms are freshened every day which is not expected at a B&B but is welcome and shows how much care she takes in looking after guests. The variety offered at breakfast was wonderful, all of the food was delicious and fresh, and was slightly different each day. The room itself (we stayed in the Rosemary room) was clean, beautifully decorated and felt like home. The front and rear balconies are a bonus, and the view from the rear balcony (and the main terrace) is really spectacular. Honestly, photos don't do justice to the view across the valley. It's so beautiful and we spent a long time just staring out over the valley watching the birds and the people farming. Likewise, the photos don't do the room justice - the whole house is immaculate and very tastefully decorated. Oh, and Giljan the cat is very sweet, slightly aloof but a real character. One of the sassiest cats you could meet but a lovely presence in the house. Thanks so much Ornella, it was lovely staying with you and we hope to see you again in the future.
The only constructive comment we would make is that the mattress protector under the bed sheet is crunchy and hot. An alternative type (such as bamboo) might be less obvious (crunchy) and less hot at night. This is a very minor comment though.
Thank you :) Ornella & Giuliano :))

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our stay at Ta' Giljan. Ornella was incredibly hospitable and welcoming throughout our five night stay. She provided great & varied home cooked breakfasts every day and was always on hand or contactable if we had any questions. The location for us was great. We didn't have a car, but it's a 20 minute walk into Xahgra and only about 25/30 mins walk to both Ramla Bay and Marsalforn. There's also a bus stop right outside. For us, it was the perfect location to explore Gozo from. The room was decently sized and the bed was really comfy. The room had an en-suite and the water pressure and temperature in the shower were great too. There was plenty of storage so the room never felt cluttered. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay and really made our visit to Gozo special. Thank you!
Nothing really comes to mind. It's a homely B&B and felt like staying in someone's house (in a great way).
Thank you :)

Verified reviewWe stayed for 6 nights. Apart from the first day (breakfast was a bit disappointing), the breakfasts are definitely worth a try. They were very diverse and tasty. The owner took into account in the breakfasts prepared that we do not eat meat. The cleanliness is also a big plus.
We didn't feel good about this place. There were rules for everything. The room was cleaned every day, but moving personal items in the bathroom (toothbrush or razor) from the shelf under the mirror to the cabinet seems inappropriate to me. Location: Every morning we were woken up by the crowing of roosters, and then the shots of hunters. And it was like that every day.

Upper floor room is large and with perfect view from balcony over the valley. Bed super comfy. Very modern and clean bathroom. Italian breakfast plus eggs, mokka coffee. Parking easily available on the street. Super location to visit Gozo, Marsalforn can be accessed on foot (30 min). Ramla beach very close.
A sunshade should be added to the balcony.
