How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice and helpful staff, very good location, the room is big enough, cleaning every day, noiseless room.
The renovation of the room and bathroom is considerably. Wifi is useless in our room due to the distance of the router.

Verified reviewExcellent location round the corner from bus stop , buses 81 & 85 to valletta
If the hotel said Arznell is closest to accommodate that would be perfect , instead of being told use google maps ! And really clean but kept forgetting to refill tea and milk

Verified reviewGreat location for the sea front and bus route, staff were really friendly and very helpful. Airport transfers were a huge plus. I haven’t got any photos of the property (we had a 36hr stay)! As soon as there are cheap flights again, we will be back 💕🇲🇹☀️
The property, ‘did what it said on the tin’. It was functional and more than acceptable budget accommodation. Didn’t appreciate our neighbours complaining about noise levels when we had a film on at 1030pm….. my partner was sleeping too, so volume was on 6 or 8 …. Not exceptionally loud. I can only think that tv was in alcove trapping sound & their bed was against that wall.

Verified reviewRude unhelping staff that raised voice when asked if I could have some warm food, when i am pregnant and was offered breakfast with accommodation. Was rudely spoken back too and phone with manager shuvved in my face when didnt do anything to warrant that sort of attitude and behaviour towards a customer. Served cold coffees, cold food left on side with flies all over. filthy and broken conditions, such as elevator which needed as pregnant and disabled, at times shuddered, loud banging when inside, stopped at different floor than pressed, very scary. Broken/dirty plates and cutlery, cracks in walls and foundation, mould in places, dirty/stained towels, stained and hairs on bedding, unclean floors, if you shut the balcony slide door you were locked out as no handles, dangerous plugs and sockets right next to kettle and dangerous works being done right outside property. Single bedrame on double mattress and cracked and leaking showers. Didn't stay last night paid. Was ignored about concerned and not refunded for wasted stay and bad conditions.

Verified reviewBreakfast was lovely, staff very helpful, went out of their way to help. I didn't request a quiet room when booking, not sure where you got that from.

Verified reviewIt was really quiet and peaceful, we had a really good night sleep. The beds were quite comfortable and the place was rather clean. Breakfast was ok. Overall the place would be ok for a couple of nights.
The room and the hotel wasn't bad, although it was old and a bit shabby. The place really needs some renovation. The view from the room was quite disappointing too.

Verified reviewThe only thing that was quite positive was the shuttle service from the airport. I recommend, however, to wash the car before the service
Practically nothing, no customer care, dirty room, bathroom in terrible condition. The shower very dirty, and the sink really very small and poorly maintained Terrible breakfast made with poor quality food. In general a poorly maintained and poorly managed structure.

Verified reviewAt first I thought that the location was horrible because it was in the middle of a construction zone and the taxi couldn't even find a way to get there. But much of that sorted itself out while I was there once the roads were repaved. The lodge is just a few minutes walk from the fishing harbor, which is why most people go to Marsaxlokk to begin with. There are several good restaurants along the harbor. If you are planning to use Marsaxlokk as a base for visiting Valletta, as I was, it is not a good location. Too much time is spent on buses going back and forth, a journey that can take up to two hours depending upon what is happening traffic-wise in Valletta. Valletta is a wonderful city, so if that is your destination, do yourself a favor and stay there.
At first I was disappointed with the breakfast due to the absence of eggs but, in retrospect, after 12 days of protein deprivation in Italy, the breakfast at the Harbour Lodge was pretty good. My primary complaint is the tiny sink and the very claustrophobic shower in the bathroom. The sink was the smallest I've ever seen, making it impossible to keep the bathroom floor dry.

Verified reviewThe listing states “parking available , no reservations needed!” Arrived told parking full at 1500 hrs and to park in the street—/ it’s a restaurant strip no parking for about 1 km. The angry unhelpful person on the phone put us off staying. They ripped us off for the no cancelation 100%. FALSE ADVERTISING ON BOOKING-com.
