How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBig and well decorated room. There is plenty of space for a family of 4. The room and the common spaces were very clean. Location is perfect to go around Valletta, all attractions, busses and boats are at walking distance
The master bed is not comfortable, and also its metal frame is very noisy, I couldn't twist at night without waking up my partner. In general the whole place felt like it was needing a bit more ventilation.
Luca, thanks for pointing out the bed. We have tightened the loose screw that there was. Thats all it needed. Regarding ventilation, I dont know what more you could need; there are two balconies with 5 windows each totaling of 10 Windows into the room spread over 10 meters and also an opening balcony door. The room is not even possible to have more ventilation than it has.

Verified reviewthe location was great. It was a spacious apartment , clean , with everything you needed.
The whole building had a smell of humidity. I suppose it's generally a problem in the old buildings. We kept the windows open throughout our stay , so it wasn't a problem.

The layout of the apartment, especially the bathroom was a bit uncomfortable but nothing serious.

Verified reviewExcellent location to explore Valletta. In a quiet side street close to aminities.
There was some noise from building activities next door. Luckily not for long. Parking is almost impossible in Valletta.

Verified reviewI had the master suite and it is very spacious. A little strange having to climb stairs to the bathroom but nothing major. Room was clean with a small kitchenette. Love the tiles and decor, very cosy. Laundry in the main kitchen area was a plus. Aircon worked well. A 2 minute walk from all the action. 10 minute walk to the bus stop. Secure property with code required for the front door.
They are renovating the house next door so workman active from about 7am with jackhammers etc. It looks like a massive job also so unlikely to be finished in the near future. Also- no housekeeping for the 4 nights I was there. So, bed not made, bathroom soap ran out. I know we can technically ask and they will try and accomodate within 12 hours of your request but it seemed a little strange this wasn’t a given.
Dear Lauren, You have booked a self catering house. Daily cleaning is included with a hotel service but we only do cleanings upon check outs. We are not obliged to provide soap but we still provided you with a large container for your stay. If this had run out, we would have easily replaced, should you have asked. We were also very accommodating when you came to check in at 10.30am instead of 2pm with no notice. Regarding construction unfortunately they are within their permits and we cannot do anything about neighbouring works in the area. We see that it is a big job yes but the main works are only carried out in the beginning

Verified reviewThe location was absolutely perfect because of the plenty of restaurants, shops, architecture and main streets around. The apartment is near the sea and the main sightseeings in Valletta. There is the smoke zone and the comfortable atmosphere in the apartments.
There is no slippers in the room, but according to the booking these ones supposed to be there, that's why my friend and I didn't take our own with ourselves. It was a little disappointing, because the floor was too cold, and it was necessary to keep the air conditioner turned on mostly of our time there.

Verified reviewExcellent location, close to all restaurants and pubs in Valletta. The Grand Master suite has one main room with double bed and a smaller room with a bunk bed. It also has a small kitchen and a small fridge. The fridge works also when one is out of the room and the key is not inserted. In addition, there is a main kitchen, fully equipped, to be shared by all guests of Chateau la Vallette, with a larger and cooler fridge. The location is quiet, even being situated in the very centre of Valletta.
Even if the room is very large and would be able to host a real double bed, the existing bed is only queen size (140 cm large), which is really not comfortable for more than one night. The electricity is, like in many hotels, linked to the key card being inserted. However, hotels usually provide a second key while this is not the case here. At least the room fridge works independently from the key card. One more point, not a problem for us but could be a challenge for some: there are stairs to reach the room (the Grand Master suite is on the 1st floor) and also in the room, to reach the bathroom.

Verified reviewTwo bedrooms, natural light, lots of space and great air con. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and everything worked and functioned well. The location was perfect. Check in was easy with a lock box.
Everything was great. The only thing was the bathroom is like an ensuite to the second bedroom, so difficult for the person in the first bedroom if they need the toilet in the night.

Unfortunately it’s located next to a church. The bell ring really loud about 6:30-7:00 am every morning. You need really good earplugs. Other than that , everything was wonderful:)
