Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaWe were assigned the apartment on the ground floor. This one has the bathroom on the opposite side of the house, you have to go through the common area to reach it. Frankly, this wasn’t that big of a deal for us, but it can certainly upset other people. The bathroom is still private, you get the keys for it and it’s only yours What we didn’t really like was the poor sound insulation of the room. In the early morning there’s heavy traffic on the streets nearby and it definitely disturbed our sleep. It felt as if we were sleeping on the street!
The house is large and beautiful. The common spaces are well equipped and the place was generally clean. The staff were helpful with everything we’ve needed. Good location, close to bus stops, restaurants and grocery stores.

UkraineA few minor issues with the fittings in the room, but nothing serious.
Pretty big room, good price, kitchen is available, inner garden. The house looks like a palace. The bathroom was so clean that I didn’t notice the shower glass panel and bumped into it :)

SwedenJust a suggestion: to have motion sensor lights outside/ common areas. Clearer sign of name of place, when one is looking for this place at night.
It was an old traditional house, cosy stay, clean and well kept. No staff there, I had to follow instructions to get the key to the house and enter myself. Although i was the only occupant that day, I felt safe.

SlovakiaAsk for a room on 2nd floor. Room on 1st (ground) floor is dark and cold, bathroom is located at the end of corridor and is very wet. Otherwise, it is a beautiful historical building furnished with a historical furniture. Kitchen is very nice, well equipped. Lounge and a patio is available for chill. Located near the center of Victoria, buses and restaurants nearby. Self checkin and checkout nonstop.

RomaniaIt was so hard to take the keys out of the lockbox and to put them back again when I left. Seeing as in one of the days I helped another woman who was checking-out who struggled for more than half an hour to lock it it might be a problem. There are no European adaptors and I didnt know that Malta used different sockets when I arrived. The worst thing is that when I turned on the AC a huge COCKROACH flew out of it onto the bed.
The house was nice, if a bit tacky, it was big and it was not far from anything that interested me during my stay in Gozo. Overall it was clean, the bathroom as well.

United KingdomThe door lock was a little too stiff for my 11 year old to manage in his room and the ground floor bathroom, but this really wasn't a problem, especially as this is a guest house with only four rooms in total
Wonderful accommodating host. This is a really generously proportioned Guest House. It was so nice that it was just hosting four rooms in total. There is a really generous sized sitting room, a large kitchen with dining table, a library also with table and chairs, and a courtyard. Loads of traditional features. Only a few minutes walk from the historic centre of Victoria, and a bus stop near at hand if you prefer that to get you to the bus station and to your onward destination. We loved the late check out time, it really helped us to feel like we were still on holiday without the rush of observing an early check out time. Combination of effective air con and wooden window panels helped to limit the impact of the August heat.

AustraliaNothing, it far exceeded my expectations given the low budget rate.
The property was surprisingly very comfortable given the price I paid. It’s a four bedroom grand house with a large bedroom and private bathroom with a shared kitchen, lounge and library. The house is a period home and really lovely. I felt like I had the entire house to myself as it was so quiet. I stayed here for a night before heading over to Xlendi.

BelgiumA great place to stay for a night or a few more. Very close to everything in Victoria, comfortable enough room with airconditioning, a patio and a balcony you can use and even a kitchen. You really get the feeling of staying at a real Maltese home. The host is easy to reach via whatsapp and we got to leave our luggage early and the day we left so we could go out and see the sights (which are worth going to Gozo and Victoria for btw)
