How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFamily run feel to the place. Convenient location to walk into Rabat and Mdina. Or base for the football. Breakfast included. Self check in available. Luggage storage. Good shower. Comfy bed. Strong air con. OK WIFI
A mess of a check in process. Always ask for self check in details and WiFi password before you venture there. Times don't match up in multiple places. Tiny bathroom. At 6ft, we struggled.

Verified reviewAfter our stay, in the morning, Theresa from the staff was very nice
Although offering self checkin after booking, the owner did not reply to my many messages on booking.com and her WhatsApp. Only at 20:31(after more than 8 hours!) she finally replied, providing us the details how to get there (GPS coordinates) and how to enter. Her GPS coordinates were different from the address on booking, and after searching for about 15 minutes, we drove to the address provided by booking. Turns out, her GPS coordinates were wrong. Had problems to enter, how a previous guest also described. Her card system with the air-conditioning was not explained, even worse, no card was provided. We went to the reception area where we searched everywhere, going through her things (which few guests would do) and eventually found a little purse with many cards inside. Having no idea how it works, we tried card after card, and finally something appeared to work, but the aircon didn't switch on, because the batteries in the remote controller were dead. Searching high and low for replacement batteries, we found a TV remote and used those. One more thing: It stated on Booking that payment would be handled by the property. Without my consent they deducted the amount from my credit card. I find that a bit unsettling as the payment was not going through Booking. Furthermore, I would have liked to pay using another card. Not cool Worst, however, is the smell. It's mouldy and damp in the room. Do not go there!
Hi Sebastian, thank you for your feedback. I’m really sorry about the delay with the check-in info — I was travelling and thought the message had gone through, but it didn’t. As soon as I realised, I sent the details. I understand that caused stress, and I apologise. About the aircon: the card system was set up and topped up, but unfortunately the remote's batteries had died, which we hadn’t noticed. We’ll make sure that doesn’t happen again. The house is older, yes — but we keep the rooms very clean and ventilated. We've had no other complaints of mould, but we’ll still double-check the room to be sure. Lastly, Booking.com sometimes processes payment directly through us depending on the booking type. Yours it was a flexy reservation so i don t see why i shouldn t have charged your card. We’re sorry for any confusion. Thanks again for your comments — and for your kind words about our staff! Kind regards Pauline Cassar

Verified reviewSelf check-in was without any problem. The room was spacious. 1 bottle of water gratis + tea/ coffee. The bathroom was quite tiny, but sufficient. The property is not so far from the city centre and Mdina.
Basic breakfast.

Breakfast could have been better. Choices did not vary from day to day. No hot food items.

Verified reviewThe room was clear and everything we needed was in there. The AC was really helpful in hot waether and we weren't forced to pay any additional fee to get AC working although there is a limit of how much you can use it and then you'll ne charged. But we had no problem keeping AC on during most of the nights. The staff was great, especially Teresa, she was really helpful and she was making sure we always have ecerything we need.
Some stuff in the room didn't work, e.g. the fan, for it to work someone had to hold its button, because otherwise it immediately turned off. The water was mostly hot, at best luke warm, what dint really help while there was 35 Celcius outside. Additionally the breakfest wasn't great. In theory it had most of the ingredients which you would need for a simple breakfest (toast, ham, cheese), but general quality of these ingredients was really poor and you could see that this is the cheapest stuff you can buy, so after few days we've had enough of it.

Verified reviewConveniently located in a quiet neighborhood, just a few minutes to walk to Mdina and to the bus station. Breakfast starts at 8:30, and we have to skip all three of them.
Very late breakfast for guests.
