The location was the only redeeming feature of this stay. Close to everything we needed.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we’d made a mistake. The hotel is incredibly dated, dirty, and reeks of cigarette smoke throughout, despite signs threatening a $100 fine for smoking. Clearly, no one enforces it. Our room was no better. The window was literally held together with tape. A few days into our stay, the ceiling above the shower collapsed while I was using it — dumping plaster and dirty black water on me. When I reported this to the so-called “manager,” his response was, “It’s fine, what do you want me to do about it?” Completely dismissive and indifferent to a serious safety issue. To make matters worse, I received a message while we were out on a day tour stating that staff were going into our room and moving our belongings to a new room without our permission. There was absolutely no valid reason for this, and no prior notice was given. It was a clear invasion of privacy and made us feel extremely uncomfortable for the rest of the stay. Then, to top it all off, at checkout they tried to charge me $200 for “ceiling damage” the very ceiling that collapsed on me. Unbelievable. A colleague was charged a ridiculous fee for make up on a towel, when we refused to pay we were locked in the hotel until they received payment. Incredibly scary as female travellers. Staff professionalism? Non-existent. One morning around 7:15am, I found front desk staff fast asleep on the couch. There’s also constant security at the entrance, which you quickly realize is there because of the massage parlour downstairs that only seems to attract male visitors. It creates a very uncomfortable atmosphere for guests. Bottom line: this place needs a full refurbishment or to be shut down entirely. It’s unsafe, unsanitary, unprofessional, and deeply concerning on multiple levels. On top of that, they’ll try to hit you with random charges when you leave. Do yourself a favour and stay literally anywhere else there are far better and safer options nearby.

Upon check out, they charged me 10 dollars for taking the laundry bag. Mind you, this is a flimsy piece of drawstring bag no better than a trash bag. They didn’t indicate any price on it at the wardrobe like they do with the minibar. You wouldn’t know that there is a charge at all! And what kind of hotel charges for a laundry bag, anyway?? It’s no different from soap, shampoo and slippers that are usually provided by the hotels. 10 dollars, what a scam! When I contested it, the receptionist had a very bad attitude about it and lied that “every hotel in Mongolia charges for the laundry bag.” That is so not true!

Not clean, sink was blocked.

The staff are wonderful especially the young lady who works at the main hotel - the view over Sukhbatar Sqaure is great especially during Nadam festival when the square hosts a large concert and fireworks! Best seats in the house! If staying during Nadam ask for a room with a view of the square on the 5th level or higher! Beautiful!

Breakfast doesn’t start until 7.30am too late. Start at 6am for breakfast pls.

Great location! Amazing AC after two weeks at other hotels with none. Clean, quiet and spacious I also had an amazing view of the square which was unexpected but a lovely surprise for my last two nights in Mongolia.

Although the staff spoke English and answered basic questions they weren’t overly friendly or approachable.

Location is very good and the rooms are nice. The staff could be more friendly. Also the breakfast was not very good.

Stayed here on our first arrival in Ulaanbaatar. The location of the hotel was great as the upscale Shangri-la Mall was nearby and Sukhbaatar Square was only 5-10 minutes walk away. The room has spacious enough for a family of 4 adults and comes with a small kitchen. I like how the hotel and the rooms offer the Soviet vibes, kind of remind you the hotels in Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, the room was clean and we had a comfortable stay. However, we managed to stay at a much better hotel beside the main square with far excellent service upon our return to Ulaanbaatar, for the same price!

What I was disappointed with was the service of the hotel. Staff seems to have trouble with English, items did not arrive when I requested from front desk. One incident that made me particularly angry was that we were not given the correct towels when requested, yet we were charged upon checking out as the reception had recorded the requested towels being sent to our room. We tried to dispute the charges but ended up paying as it was hard to argue things out when the service staff could not speak much English and we were pressed for time. The breakfast too was fallen short of expectation. The breakfast options was limited and staff did not replace the food on time for other guests. When we requested for 4 sunny eggs and only 2 arrived. Service has to improve!

Great location, clean rooms.

The location is very good and that's why I preferred it. I didn't try the breakfast and food. The room was large enough, daily cleaning was done, towels were changed, etc. It was good in these respects. Hot water flowed smoothly.

I can say two negative things. First of all, although they said they would call the room early in the morning (04:30) to wake up, they did not call. Secondly, my check-in was early in the morning, but I had business outside. For this reason, I sent a message to the hotel as follows “I don't need a room early in the morning, I just want to change my clothes and leave my suitcase in a suitable place in the hotel”, their reply was that this was not possible due to the density. So I paid for 1 more night stay.

Very limited breakfast cereal options. I bring my own.

The bathroom is very dark, which is not good for shaving.
