How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice staff, clean and spacious room with lots of light
Very noisy. Dogs barkings and loud people partying in the hotel until early morning.

Verified reviewThe room was excellent, the bed very comfortable.
Breakfast (included in the room rate) was very basic, especially if you don't fancy Burmese breakfast.

Verified reviewSituated close to local markets and mall. Our room was large and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was the usual Asian style, noodles, rice, and some vegetables. Eggs could be ordered but, unfortunately, were always cold. Breakfast was served on rooftop, which was nice. Staff were very helpful and friendly. When next we return to Yangon, we would definitely stay here again. If you want to immerse yourself in the life of these beautiful people this is the place to stay.
A tap was continually dripping in bathroom which made floor extremely wet.

Verified reviewThe staff were very helpful and gave recommendations and advise even though they struggle to explain things in English. I enjoy the local dishes at breakfast.
I can hear the noise from the next room. The card machine was not working so I have to withdraw cash to pay for my stay and dinner from the bar.

Verified reviewI booked for a single room and was upgraded for free to a bigger room :-D
Nothing to be honest, but if there is probably the location because of the traffic and being located outside the main road.
Thank you so much for your review.

Verified reviewAn averagely good hotel with wonderful friendly staff. It's relatively clean. Not impeccably clean. A good location. Although rather far away from downtown Yangon. But still a bustling part of the city close to Hledan Centre and Myanmar Plaza malls. The regular power cuts didn’t bother me at all. Quite a lot of street food in the vicinity, and a market and a swimming pool just three minutes away. It's a beautiful city with friendly and helpful people.
The room with a shared bathroom is too small. No desk or chair. Better to choose a different room type. Unfortunately, in Myanmar, hotel rates for foreigners are higher than for the Myanmarese. Furthermore, they use a higher dollar rate than the official one when converting the amount in dollars into MMK.

Verified reviewI traveled to Myanmar many times because I love its people and culture. I have been to many hotels as well but Serene Stays has been by far my best stay, the kindness and attitude of the staff, always ready for any need, the best location, in the epicenter of the city means that you can move in any direction and reach your destination in a matter of minutes. Everything works perfectly at Serene Stays. I really wish all hotels were like this.

Verified reviewFood was good at the bar on the 8th floor
The price to be paid in US$ was almost 80 $ more than the price when booked online when we arrived. Total daylight robbery. They said it was a problem with booking.com 5TH Floor shares the bathroom with 10 other rooms on the floor .Pay the accommodation upfront if you prefer to stay there.
We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience. Regarding the room rate, the price shown in booking.com in our currency (MMK) is different due to exchange rate error of central bank. We try to charge the same room rate($) as shown in the reservation according to the updated exchange rate. But it is truly our team's fault that we couldn't explain clearly nor give the satisfactory solution for you. Regarding the shared bathroom problem, our hotel has 8 rooms in each floor, but only 4 rooms (Standard rooms) have to share the outside bathroom if fully occupied, the other 4 rooms (Deluxe rooms) have own attached bathroom. Nevertheless, we have increased our manpower to keep the shared outside bathroom clean and tidy at all times. We are sorry that we couldn't provide the service that you have expected. Thank you for giving us an honest review so that we can improve our necessary services.

Verified reviewThe location is great - very close to Hledan. The rooms are clean, the Wi-Fi is usually pretty fast, and the staff is very helpful. If you want to save some money the rooms with the shared bathroom are very convenient. If the bathroom on your floor is taken, it’s easy to go up or down a floor and find a free one. Finally this time I had made some mistakes when I booked, but the staff did great in remedying the problem.

Verified reviewThe hotel is in a good location, the bar is great and like last time the staff were very friendly and helpful.
This time the air in the room was very stale as you couldn't open the window for ventilation. In addition, this time I had to pay in MMK when paying by credit card, although I had been able to pay in USD the week before. The room was therefore about 40% (!!) more expensive due to the poor exchange rate. Nobody could explain to me why I had to pay in MMK this time.
