How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The roads leading to the hostel weren’t lit, so it could be a bit scary.
Worth every penny! The staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s clean and organized.

The mattress was not very comfortable with lots of springs but on the plus there are curtains for privacy
The property is right in the middle of old town which is easily accessible with buses near by and the main bus terminal around 20/25 mins walk. The guy is very helpful that worked there. 3 bathrooms across the 3 floors

The bathrooms were not clean. As a woman, I felt uncomfortable taking a shower.

one toilet per floor, but the kind staff said they have the most toilets out of all the hostels in skopje, so it is okay
staff was friendly and helpful. good location next to the bizarre for night life. easy to find. clean and quiet. bed was comfortable. kitchen was easy to use. everything you want from a hostel.

The hostel is located in the heart of the city, with walking distance to almost all attractions. The staff was super nice, helpful and kind. They even helped me after the stay when I contacted them I've stayed in a single room, which was a private, spacious and well-equipped place. Overall, good value for money

There was no air conditioner in my room and the temperatures were high at night. I heard they are solving it.
The curtains on the beds give privacy. The place is easy to find and located very central on the outskirts of the old bazaar. It is a safe area even late at night. The guy running the place was very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped. The mattress comfortable.

It was a bit hard to find the hostel.
The hostel is in the historic part of the city, close to the major sights. The single room had basic furniture, but was very comfortable.

Shower was fine, could be better only 3 in the entire building same with toilets, be aware that this area has a lot of mosques nearby and will do the call to prayer very early.
Terrace was nice, staff nice, 2 euro deposit for key, and 2 euro to use washing machine. Clean beds with curtain. Best price for the quality you will find.

The double room is basic, with just what you need, a very comfortable bed. The shared areas upstairs are excellent, with well-equipped kitchen, and plenty room to hang out and socialise. The owners are extremely friendly, relaxed, and welcoming, making you feel at home. The location is perfect, close to all the sights. We highly recommend this hostel!

The first night was extremely hot. I had a hard time falling asleep. At least fans are needed to ventilate crowded rooms even if there is no air conditioning.
I have been staying in hostels for about 10 years. The thing I care about most is the cleanliness of the toilet and bathroom, then the cleanliness of the interior. The hostel was really clean.

There is only one bathroom per floor, which can be a bit inconvenient when guests are not mindful of shared space. For example, during our stay, one guest spent a long time inside drying their hair, despite repeated knocks on the door. It would be helpful to have a more efficient setup—perhaps a separate area with mirrors and hairdryers—so that the bathroom doesn’t remain occupied for too long.
We (backpacker couple) stayed at Historia Hostel for two night and had a wonderful experience. The location is excellent—just a short walk from the Old Bazaar and the city center, making it easy to explore Skopje on foot. The hostel is clean and well-maintained, with daily cleaning routines and provided slippers to keep the environment tidy. The shared bathrooms are modern and equipped with essentials. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a communal kitchen and lounge area that encourage socializing. The host is friendly and we felt welcomed.

This is the most satisfying hostel I have ever stayed in. Firstly, the receptionist at the front desk is very warm and friendly. Secondly, the room is very clean and quiet. The location is also great. There is a kitchen where you can cook by yourself. When the owner saw that I wanted to eat eggs, he immediately brought me two without charging me. It felt just like being at home. I couldn't help staying here for two more days. The price is very reasonable.

Duvet is not thick enough, had to take extra from another bed. Also got told off in the kitchen to be quiet as someone was giving a massage? Not sure what that was about, it’s not a spa so I ignored him
Location is close to centre and very clean. Got a very homely feel, not your typical social hostel

Very clean baths,beds,people from there People working there are very kind It’s located in the turkish neighborhood which in my opinion is the best place in Skopje,for 7€ per night it is incredible

A hostel very close to the square, next to the Turkish bazaar. Everywhere is within walking distance. The owner is very sweet people. The hostel is cleaned every day at certain hours. I recommend it🫶🏻
