Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TurkeyBathroom could be nicer. Shower water was so little but there is hot water. Better lighting can give better ambiance a well.
It is remote and peaceful. Room was looking towards the bay and brings in the nice breeze. Stuff was lovely and helpful. Recommended.

TunisiaThe accessibility to the place was a bit hard and the shower (running water) is not working properly. Then the room is hot and it’s better to put air conditioning.
The room sea view is amazing and the staff was very kind.

GermanyThe Internet was very volatile in that particular area where I stayed. Luckily it was noticeably better in the vicinity of the restaurant. But this is a general problem across Madagascar and possibly difficult to remedy.
I had changed my travel plans and ended up staying longer at Hôtel Riziky than anticipated. It was the best decision. The Hotel itself sits on a large, partially forested property right next to a charming beach. From this quiet and sublime setting on the bay the centre of Diego Suarez is reached within 10minutes. It is a perfect location to venture out and explore the Northern Tip of Madagascar, with its rich history and incredible natural land-and seascapes. There are a variety of rooms available on the property to suit the specific needs of guests. My room, on the second floor of one of the white rendered brick buildings, was tastefully furnished and beautifully spacious with a large balcony/window overlooking the bay and sky. There’s even hot water, a rarity in my experience. The food was exceptional, prepared with such dedication and attention, tasted great and always presented beautifully. It often including fresh seafood caught on the day. The breakfast plentiful always accompanied with a freshly made exotic juice. The pricing is very reasonable. Hôtel Riziky is relatively new and is, in its village style setting, still being extended. It is the result of a Malagasy family vision, built and run by three wonderful sisters, amidst other members. It is both, their work and life, which shows in the level of care and the guesthouse model they are realising, which is embedded sensitively on their land. They are always helpful, considered and supportive, catering to my and other guests needs. I had the best time and was profoundly touched by the genuine, easeful and welcoming mood and gestures. Can’t wait to return.

United StatesThe room gets quite hot at night even with open doors and a mosquito screen on doors and window would help.
Great breezy rooms but a bit hot at night. Wonderful staff/owners and very good food (good value too). Fresh and prepared with care. We really enjoyed our stay there. Quiet and peaceful and the hotel arranges local transport very easily.

NetherlandsThe apartments are located in a beautiful, quiet bay overlooking the blue and green colored ocean close to Diego. The sisters running Riziky were extremely kind and helpful, and they went the extra mile to help us and make this a pleasurable stay. Additionally, we enjoyed the great meals we had at Riziky

United KingdomThe WIFI in our room was extremely poor and for 4 out of 5 days, there was no hot water in the shower room. We did mention this several times and then gave up as nothing appeared to be done. Despite these flaws, I would be happy to book this hotel again, such were the positives.
The staff were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The view from our room was heavenly with great vistas of the ocean and land around. The room was large enough and the bed comfortable. The meals provided were excellent and dining with a sea view an added bonus. This is a new, small, private hotel with only 7 rooms in a superb position but somewhat difficult to get to on foot. Sleep quality was excellent.

JapanNot so much but only two things. It’s be greater if they had Wifi and hot water.
The location was perfect! There’s private? beach next to the buildings. Room was big enough and clean. People here are also great! They are kind and friendly. I think it’s too cheap for the place.

United StatesRoom was not air conditioned, and at night even with a mosquito net the room was infested with bugs. It was much cooler outside than it was in the room. The room had to be at least 85°. Even with the fan they provided we sweated right through our clothes. The heat and bugs were so bad, we checked out at 9:00 pm and moved to a new hotel
Not much
