How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is beautiful and very quiet.
The road to the property is a little narrow but once you have driven it a couple of times then it is not an issue.

Verified reviewExceptional experience. Tranquil, perfectly maintained and fabulous hosts that will help you with anything. The road to the estate has been newly tarmaced and there is plenty of parking. We had our own car but also used a taxi who the hosts put us in touch with. Every taxi trip to Stari Bar Old Town was less than €5 and was very easy to arrange via WhatsApp. Breakfast was also fabulous. I would not hesitate to recommend staying here.

Verified reviewThe property was absolutely beautiful and added such a rustic yesteryear charm to our trip. The olive estate made it even better. Andjela as the host was one of the best and so super responsive and caring.
Nothing as such.

Verified reviewAndjela couldn't have been more helpful. From the start she kept in touch via WhatsApp and arranged all the details so everything was in place before arrival. She also sorted out a passport problem with the British Embassy in Podgorica. Fantastic service and she went above and beyond to organise things. Andjela offered to get groceries in ready for arrival so there was no need to go immediately into town. Lazar and Micha provided fabulous airport transfers and their driving was safe and comfortable. The surroundings were magical, with olive trees, twinkling lights at night, a beautiful clean swimming pool, and a garden full of flowers and butterflies including swallowtails. The hills surrounding the property reverberated with the sounds of cow bells at night and the gentle chirping of grasshoppers. The air-conditioning in the apartment was very effective and kept the surroundings comfortable for sleeping, despite the temperatures being in the high 20's all week. Lazar maintained the pool and gardens beautifully, and they are a credit to him. Any problems were addressed promptly and politely within the hour. There are numerous grocery stores 10 minutes drive from the apartment. Stari Bar Old Town is just down the road and is absolutely beautiful 😍.
I think the main negative was lack of privacy. It was difficult to relax never knowing if someone was going to turn up at the property. The unmade track to the property was not what we were expecting. It was made of loose stones on a very steep slope. It seems that thus type of road is common in Montenegro but we probably wouldn't have booked the apartment knowing this. There were a number of minor problems which seem trivial, but when added up they were tiresome. The television had to be returned by Lazar every day as it disconnected from the internet every time it was turned off. One day we had no water, another day no hot water, another day no wifi, just minor niggles but it spoilt the stay somewhat. It would have been lovely to have tea/coffee making facilities in the apartment and not to have to go down to the kitchen which was down some steps. Lucky, there were no other occupants so the kettle could be moved to the apartment. A little tray with coffee sachets, tea bags, milk and sugar sachets would have been welcomed. A hire car is necessary if you want to fully explore the area and for shopping as it is a long walk into town and a very steep walk back to the apartment with heavy shopping bags. It would have been nice to have fresh towels every day rather than having to wash them in the kitchen sink every day as there was no washing machine. It's unfortunate that a neighbour is building a property right in the view line of the apartment.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your detailed review and helpful suggestions. We are pleased to hear that you had a pleasant stay and enjoyed the beauty and atmosphere of our property. Regarding your concerns, we would like to address a few points. Our garden is large and requires constant maintenance, so the person responsible for it comes at the same time every day. Guests are always informed of this in advance to ensure everything meets their expectations. All important details, including this one, are shared upon arrival. As for the access road, since the house is located at the foot of a hill, the road is naturally steeper than it would be in the city center. Unfortunately, this is currently something we cannot change, but we strive to make the access as comfortable as possible within these limitations. Regarding the issue with the television, we would like to point out that the device requires re-connecting to the internet after each shutdown, which is a feature of the system itself and is beyond our control. Concerning the temporary water outage, it was short-lived, and we had informed you in advance that water filters were being cleaned at that time. Additionally, if the water heater was depleted due to extended use, this was the reason for the temporary lack of hot water. As for the internet, the outage was due to bad weather, but we resolved the issue as quickly as possible. We always strive to address such situations promptly and keep guests informed in advance. The kitchen is close to the apartment and is equipped with all necessary facilities, including a coffee machine, for this reason, we believe that any element does not need to be in the room where the guests sleep. When guests stay for a longer period, as was the case with you, towels and bed linen are changed every two days, but it is necessary for guests to inform us when they would like this done, which is clearly stated in the house rules. Unfortunately, we have no control over the construction on the neighboring property, but we do our best to ensure that all other aspects of your stay are as enjoyable as possible. Once again, thank you for your stay and your suggestions. We look forward to hosting you again and hope your next visit will be even more enjoyable. Best regards, Olive Queen Team

Verified reviewThe Villa was beautiful, the room was lovely and the grounds were also stunning and very well maintained. The kitchen had all that you need and the room was a good size and with air conditioning was also very comfortable. The swimming pool was clean, warm and also a good size for the family. The family/hosts could not have been more available and helpful for the whole visit and always helped with suggestions on where to go, booked reservations and also provided lifts to locations when asked, Andjela was always available and we saw Lazar every day as he was at the property to do the garden and maintain. Lazar was great when we had to take our little man to a medical centre and took us, stayed with us for the duration and helped with translations he was brilliant. All in all they were a wonderful family and great place to stay off the beaten track and away from the centre of town.
Would suggest a rental car due to location, and the road up to the property needed some repairs but this is the same across all of where we travelled on Montenegro.

Verified reviewAndjela was the most amazing and helpful hostess. We had lost our passports. We were very upset upon arrival. She helped us to find them and get them back. And, this was the most beautiful place on God's earth - like a garden!
We liked everything! Why would you not enjoy everything here? It is an amazing place to get away and rest!

Steep and narrow driveway - what is probably common in Montenegro but we are not used to such ;)

Verified reviewThanks a lot. Very nice view, beautiful olive trees, very fancy and lovely looked villa. Thank a hospitable host family. Evening illuminations make this house looks great. Comfortable and quiet in the evening garden to rest after long trips during the day.
Everything was great, but we would probably like a little more privacy.
