How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt’s in old town. Cute. Large rooms. Unique.
The air conditioner didn’t work all night even when we put it at 16 degree. It was so hot and we couldn’t sleep all night long. When we complained in the morning the receptionist didn’t understand or help us feel better. She just said it’s hot outside that is why it was hot in the room which makes no sense.

Verified reviewThe location of this hotel is amazing! It is right in the centre of the old town and you can walk everywhere. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the rooftop bar is very nice. The staff are very friendly.
Due to the location, there is a lot of noise at night which can last until 2/3am in the morning. Bring ear plugs! Also the air con in our room was not very good which during a heat wave, made our sleeping difficult.

Verified reviewWe stayed for one night. At first the AC wasn’t working well, but the staff were really kind and upgraded us to the hotel suite. The room was nice and had a special vibe. The hotel is inside Kotor’s old town, and the design fits the historic atmosphere. Breakfast was good, and the coffee was honestly one of the best I had in Montenegro.

The noise from the clubs next door kept us awake

Verified reviewLovely location in the centre of the old town!
Only drawback is beyond their control as the old town pub is right next door so does get quite noisy in the evening! Had little to no impact for us.

Verified reviewHistoric nice hotel with an elevator. Nice room with a gold board with the room number right under the door. Friendly staff. The bar with a restaurant on the terrace was nice and refreshing.
Difficult accessibility in the old town of Kotor - finding the hotel through the narrow streets typical of this town. This is not a mistake; it is a fact.

A bit noisy at night due to it’s location near pubs and cafes

Verified reviewWe loved the location of the hotel. Right in the middle of the Old Town, but very close to drop off and pick up points. The rooms were very comfortable, the bed particularly, and lots of space for 2 persons . The complimentary breakfast was quite adequate and we were all happy with it.
We liked everything .

Loud music from bar below room until 1am. Local breakfast was good but a choice of fruit & yoghurt would have been good.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect, in the heart of the old town, staff were friendly and helpful
Bathrooms were slightly dark and there could have been more shelving/hooks and full-length mirror, especially when two people are sharing. The breakfast choice could be more varied. Although we were warned in advance about the nightclub at the rear of the hotel, we weren’t aware that it was actually outside in the courtyard, so even the triple glazing struggled to cope.

Verified reviewWelcoming staff, beautiful generous rooms and the rooftop terrace is a real bonus.
Travellers might want to consider staying outside of the old town if they are after a quieter stay. Lovely to be inside the bustling city walls, but tourists from cruise liners are relentless and the bars and restaurants stay open late, with lots of noise bleed through the windows of the hotel. Great if you want the vibe, but worth consideration if you’re after a more relaxed stay.

Verified reviewThe location and all the employees except one person they are wonderful people. The owner lady, Merve and Necip
Don't stay in room 503, I don't know about the other rooms!!! The room is nice but it's impossible to sleep because of the noise, there's no music or anything, just people braying and having fun, and the hotel has a terrace cafe above it, and the sounds of tables and chairs in the early hours of the morning. Insulation is a must!!! At the breakfast 9 am,sorry no croissant ,no white bread..2 mornings we had that problem, than i told them, you must know guest number, and you must supply everything according to guest number because breakfast finish at 10 am . There are no shelves in the room, nowhere to put your things and the mirrors are at the top, I'm 1.60 cm, it's impossible to see yourself. The room was cold, it was central heating, it was summer, the weather got bad and we froze the first night, the sweet and kind hotel owner took care of it right away. We woke up, bingo, no water. It must be because it's the old city, it came at around 9:30, a water tank should be considered.

Verified reviewDissapointing! We booked a superior room, really nice, but broken as well. The shade of the window in front of the bed were broken, so you woke up at sunset; the lamp next to the bed was broken as well, so you had to turn on the big light. The room had two TVs, without any channels. I tried several times to tell someone in recepction, at least to fix the issue with the window, but it was always empty. When I told them during the check-out there wasn't any apology, just justifications like or you have to plug something on the TV to watch it, when I said no one told us and there wasn't anything at the room, I just received silence as an answer. I really expected more from a 4 star hotel boutique, but I guess it is like my husband said, it is just an nice looking and expensive hostel.
