Towels could be kept of a higher quality. The shower could have shower gel. The bigger storage room would probably help some travellers.

The location is great, in the heart of the city. I liked the decor, super nice. Clean showers and toilets. Perfect place to overnight, meet cool people, talk, enjoy life.

The location of the hostel was excellent. The staff was super helpful and the owner, Rubens, made his best to guarantee our comfort and always talked to us in good humour (a plus is that he also speaks Portuguese)! He also organises tours to Orhei and Transnistria. The latter exceed all of my expectations and we had a truly immersive experience that lasted for a full day! The hostel was pristine, organised and the the bed and pillow were really really comfortable!! Next time I come to Chisinau, I will definitely stay in the hostel!

Aesthetic hostel and beautifully crafted interiors . The owner Rubens has thoughtfully designed the property . Beds were super comfy and the toilets were sparkling clean . And not to miss the famous Transnistria tour with him. No one does like that which you will realise after the Tour !

This place is "totally cool" 😎 In a word, "tranquility" - my go-to place. As an oftentimes weary traveler, it's so great to be received by kind/friendly people and find everything to be nicely provided late at night. The mattress is ☆☆☆☆☆. P.S. - great location for bus/train station connections.

One of the Best Hostels I’ve Stayed In – Ionika Hostel is a Gem! I stayed at Ionika Hostel for four nights and honestly, the only regret I have is not staying longer. Everything about this place—from the atmosphere to the people who run it—is warm, personal, and thoughtfully done. If you’re heading to Chișinău, this is THE hostel to book. 🛎️ Impeccable Pre-Arrival Communication Even one month before check-in, I received a friendly WhatsApp message from the hostel. They shared super helpful information about Moldova, transportation, currency, weather, local food, and more. It was the kind of proactive, responsive communication you rarely see even in 5-star hotels. ⸻ 🍷 Unforgettable Tours with Ruben I joined two incredible tours run by Ruben—one to Transnistria, and one to a local winery. Both were well-organized, deeply informative, and full of character. • The Transnistria tour was surreal and full of stories, history, and hidden spots. • The winery tour wasn’t your typical tourist trap. Ruben took us to small, family-owned places, where we drank generous amounts of wine (and spirits!), learned from local winemakers, and had tons of laughs. There were so many great photo opportunities, and Ruben also shared insider tips that made the experience feel personal and real. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does. ⸻ 👨‍💼 Andrew – Calm, Cool, and Incredibly Helpful Andrew might come across a bit mysterious at first, but he’s one of the most grounded and kind-hearted receptionists I’ve ever met. He helped with airport pickup, gave me local recommendations, and every time I felt tired after walking around town, I could just message him and he’d help me call a taxi within minutes. He even opened a bottle of red wine for me late at night and suggested a fantastic local barber nearby. Just a calm, consistent presence who always makes sure you’re comfortable.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The interior design is very nice and gives the place a cozy yet modern feel. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the location is excellent – close to everything important. The biggest highlight, however, is the owner – incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming. He really makes the place special. I also took part in two tours organized through the hostel and they exceeded my expectations. One was a trip around the beautiful Moldovan monasteries and wineries, and the other was across the Dniester – both absolutely worth the price and truly unforgettable experiences. Highly recommended!

The name says it all… The hostel is Amazing. If you don’t have long in Moldova, you need to stay here. Especially if you only have a couple days because with the tours from the hostel, you can see a little bit of everything Moldova has to offer and still have a day free for the city. It’s safe, colourful, friendly, clean, quiet and full of great helpful people. In fact I’m writing this review while still staying there, 6 days after I was supposed to leave because it’s so nice I don’t want to go. It’s in a great location, 3 mins from a supermarket and 10 mins from either of the two best public parks. It’s very easy and simple to find and reach from the train or bus station also, it’s set back from the street so it’s private, quiet, there’s no traffic noise and you get a much nicer homely feeling to the place. You’re also given a towel and a pair of slippers in exchange for a deposit. A smoking area, plenty of outside space to dry your clothes, a big and well equipped kitchen with a fridge, water filter and nice communal eating space, plenty of upstairs lounge area to chill out in and there’s even a TV. Though there’s only 4 showers and 2 bathrooms it never feels like too little and you’re rarely waiting long. The dorm rooms are great, they maximise the space without it being too overcrowded and you’re given your own locker with a padlock. The best part is every bed has a curtain for privacy, plug sockets, reading light and little table. Mine even had a fan but there is air conditioning in the room they turn on and off when required. The design is also beautiful and interesting so no matter where you’re sat in the hostel you can be looking at something artistic. Staff are incredible! It’s a 24hr reception and no matter when you arrive they do all they can to get you settled if your bed isn’t ready. Before you arrive they send a text with tons of helpful information and you can contact them with help getting a bus or a taxi even before your arrival.
