Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCould have had a kettle with tea and coffee included. To get to the rooms, you have to go up at least a few stairs with your luggage. There is a janitor who helps with luggage, but we weren't sure if we had to give him a tip. We didn't have much luggage, but I did see some people with bigger suitcases and children, who had to carry their bags over the stairs.
the location is on the main road, so easy to get to and plenty of parking. The hotel is very big with a large entrance hall and the restaurant going off it. The room is large for the price paid. It has a fridge - handy as we didn't have breakfast included, so we kept our milk for cereal and water in it. The bathroom is also spacious. There was a balcony which looked over the well maintained garden. It was about 1 hour walk to the old medina and about 20 mins to a large shopping mall on the main road towards the medina. there are quite a few restaurants and cafes across the road. The swimming pool area was very clean with plenty of seating for families and friends to gather.

SpainThe staff was very nice, with the exception of the female desk worker. Even tho she speaks English perfectly, she made it really difficult to communicate with her. She also makes a horrible face and gives absolutely no eye contact when speaking to you, or turns to her colleagues and speaks a different language (totally ignoring you). I think she should not be put at the front desk, or learn to be more polite with tourist (since it doesn’t leave you with a good feeling of the place).
The property is very nice and clean, the pool is beautiful and the gardens are also great. The rooms are very big and comfortable.

MoroccoPaying the full price and finding out, unfortunately, that the pool was undergoing renovations, hence not usable when pool and parking were what made me chose this hotel instead of others was a great disappointment. Management knows well ahead of renovation work that renders areas or items unusable, that are an intrinsic presentation, service and selling part of the business and should advise perspective clients and, drop the price accordingly. Breakfast was average for a 4 star hotel.
Generally the Hotel was good.

IrelandSome of the staff were not very friendly or helpful. The place was a bit far from the medina and the facilities were not very great.
The hotel had a lovely pool and the room was spacious with a lovely balcony. The staff was helpful and kind. It was a beautiful hotel with a lot of space to walk around and a good breakfast.

New ZealandThis hotel has all the ingredients to be exceptional but it's a long way from that due to a multitude of factors: * no kettle in the room so no chance of enjoying a quiet cuppa on the balcony - unless you pay to have one delivered from the restaurant. So we bought a kettle from Carrefour on special for MAD199 and gifted it to one of the housekeeping staff on leaving. * a very large and comfortable bed but the duvet is barely wide enough to reach the side of the bed. * a great shower over the bath but no functioning extractor fan so a great humidity build up and black mould present. * the toilet never flushed properly * a very fickle performance from the WIFI - ranging from very good at times - to dropping out completely. * more hot points around the room would make it easier to charge devices while using them. * no guest information folder in the room - not even WIFI connection info, restaurant menu and hours - and general hotel information, things to do, etc. * we had breakfast included in our room rate. It was OK - a fair selection of food that was of a reasonable standard. * check in was very offical and transactional with no real sense of warmth and welcome. * had dinner in the restaurant one evening. Room temperature was very chilly. Service slow and seemed disorganized. The food was very good but for future meals we opted for the amazing restaurant across the road. Many of these issues have been raised in previous years reviews. The response of the Hotel has always been to be thankful for the feedback, often lay the blame at the fact that they are doing renovation work and undertake to improve on these matters. But nothing seems to change.
We booked a Junior Suite. A nice spacious first floor studio room with a lovely sun-drenched balcony that overlooked the pool and its beautiful garden surrounds. Had a great time in Fes and generally enjoyed our stay at Hotel Volubilis but for the want of attention to some of these details it could be so much better.

MoroccoFirst off, why are the staff grumpy. A smile is the bare minimum for such bad hygenic rooms and high prices. There was a drawer full of used tissues for some reason. I'll never understand how this establishment is still open.

PakistanThe welcome and dealing of male & female staff at the reception upon arrival. The non availability of iron for pressing cloths in the room and the entire hotel as well as telling me to go by myself and get it pressed from next street. Very small sized TV in the room. No slippers. No menu or QR code to find one. Rooms in block A are recently renovated and smelling chemical paint & doors polish so I had to change my room to block B.
The location, the garden & flowers, pool area, restaurant and balcony size. And gratitude of the senior lady manager on 2nd day.

HungaryOur room was old, overused, moldy. The room was badly insulated, we could hear every chitchat on the corridor and the other rooms. The staff attitude was negative, especially at the restaurant. We will definitely look for another place if we return to Ces.

ItalyThe property is beautiful and clean, and the reception staff is friendly, but the dining service is truly poor! So much so that it negatively affected our vacation… For dinner, we ordered a club sandwich and a pizza. They didn’t make the club sandwich, so we had to switch to a hamburger, which arrived COLD!! The pizza was not leavened at all, making it difficult to eat. Breakfast was also disappointing. It’s definitely not worth €10. The buffet was very limited: they provided yogurt but no granola, the bread was stale, and the mini croissants were old. The milk ran out, and no one brought more. The grilled vegetables were burnt. Very little variety and poor quality. WHAT A SHAME, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.
