How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful quirky decor . Nice breakfast. Good location. Staff were very kind when some of our family fell ill, bringing tea and water and checking on us. Wonderful toiletries provided.
Noisy at night with motorbikes outside. Rather cramped around the bed .

Verified reviewAmazing property, Neat clean, center to everything and rooms were neat and clean.
There was an issue with the invoice, I paid fully in advance for everything and just when I was about to leave/checkout i was handed over a tax bill which was handwritten and was asked to pay in cash. I told them i can pay card but they kept insisting on cash. It was very dodgey situation after an argument of 10 mins, I told them I am leaving as my taxi is here and they took the handwritten bill back from me and walked away. It seemed like the staff wanted to skim me.

Verified reviewThe hotel is very small, the staff very polite, present and service minded. Fantastic breakfast and staff overall. Our top room Charf would be ideal for honeymooners. Stairs are steep, and there are no elevators. Private terrace overlooking the city and harbor and I am sure on a clear day Gibraltar. Good wireless Internet access.
It can be hard to find, take a taxi or download Google map to your phone as there is poor cell service at street level. You can exit the harbour walk along the wall to the right, up the stairs, enter to the left through the wall, the immediate right through the tunnel follow the bend and then left, go straight and you will find it. Just keep in mind this is a locked door - knock using the door hammer. Rue Ahmed Ben Adjiba - Look for sign on the house wall.

Verified reviewVery welcome, friendly and helpful staff. Loved the rooms - very nice and clean Amazing breakfast
Would have liked air-condition in room, so that we could have closed the windows at night and did not have all the street noice.

Verified reviewThe staff in the riad couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The rooms were cleaned daily. The breakfast on the terrace was superb. The location near the entrance to the Kasbah couldn't be bettered.
Hard to think of one single thing. The winding spiral staircase might be a problem for some people but for us just added to it's charm

Verified reviewThe staff and the hotel were amazing! We were greeted immediately and asked if we’d liked tea or coffee and we were brought out some local pastries. It was a much welcome, greeting, and reprieve after the trip on the ferry and walking with our luggage to the hotel. The room was beautifully decorated with very thoughtful details. We were loved water and treats for the evening in our room, along with chocolate, so our pillow. We were asked if we’d like anything in the evening and had some more tea. In the morning the breakfast was served on the patio upstairs and it was the most amazing spread. Everyone asked if we could they could get us anything else.
I really can’t think of anything.

Verified reviewVery cute Riad, breakfast was delicious, staff was excellent-so friendly and ready to help. Location was great, close to the entry of the Kasbah and a quick walk to the Medina. We loved their two cats too!
Rooms were cosy but a little small. Our particular room faced an alley way that was very noisy at night- did not quiet down typically until 2 am (motor bikes, someone rolling a dumpster back and forth, people talking). Stairs are narrow- wasn’t an issue for us but may be for others.

Verified reviewThe staff is very engaging and personable. They are very good at making their guests feel comfortable. The decorations are colorful and reflect the city. There is a beautiful view from the rooftop terrace where you can have breakfast. They prepared a special dinner for us one night that was the best one we had during our 4 day stay in Tangier. I have celiac disease and they were very careful in excluding gluten from my fabulous meals. The location is perfect in the heights above the fray of the port but close to beautiful views of the Strait of Gibraltar. It’s also just inside the Kasbah making it easy to find your way around from there.
There isn’t anything I did not like though the size of the room we had was on the cozy side

Verified reviewAmazing place to stay, the people were so friendly, from the tea on arrival to breakfast on the last morning, they couldn't have done more. Great location. Fantastic breakfast. Would definitely return.
Nothing to dislike but there are a lot of steps to the top floor but worth all the effort for the spectacular views

Verified reviewBeautiful antique-filled place, very well run. Nedya was welcoming and hospitable and very generous with her time and we had excellent breakfasts and a delicious home-cooked meal. The two cats Safi and Yasmina made it even more enchanting. I would definitely stay again as it made a stay in Tangiers so memorable.

Verified reviewDar Sultan is a delightful small Riad, well located and staffed by individuals who go out of their way to be accommodating. My friends and I were there for a couple of nights this past January and Nadia - the manager - arranged for us to have dinner at the Riad one evening when we opted to stay in.
The stairways are steep and a few bedrooms are up on the 4th and 5th floor.

Verified reviewReally beautiful property, artfully & eclectically decorated. Easy to find - very close to Kasbah gate. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived very late (after 11pm) due to a missing suitcase but were warmly greeted with mint tea. We had the rooftop room with private terrace which had stunning views of the city, the beach, harbour and Spain. I was unwell and couldn’t make it to breakfast. The staff insisted on bringing breakfast (ample and delicious) up to the rooftop.
Nothing!
