Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNoisy at night with motorbikes outside. Rather cramped around the bed .
Beautiful quirky decor . Nice breakfast. Good location. Staff were very kind when some of our family fell ill, bringing tea and water and checking on us. Wonderful toiletries provided.

NorwayIt can be hard to find, take a taxi or download Google map to your phone as there is poor cell service at street level. You can exit the harbour walk along the wall to the right, up the stairs, enter to the left through the wall, the immediate right through the tunnel follow the bend and then left, go straight and you will find it. Just keep in mind this is a locked door - knock using the door hammer. Rue Ahmed Ben Adjiba - Look for sign on the house wall.
The hotel is very small, the staff very polite, present and service minded. Fantastic breakfast and staff overall. Our top room Charf would be ideal for honeymooners. Stairs are steep, and there are no elevators. Private terrace overlooking the city and harbor and I am sure on a clear day Gibraltar. Good wireless Internet access.

SpainHard to think of one single thing. The winding spiral staircase might be a problem for some people but for us just added to it's charm
The staff in the riad couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The rooms were cleaned daily. The breakfast on the terrace was superb. The location near the entrance to the Kasbah couldn't be bettered.

United StatesI really can’t think of anything.
The staff and the hotel were amazing! We were greeted immediately and asked if we’d liked tea or coffee and we were brought out some local pastries. It was a much welcome, greeting, and reprieve after the trip on the ferry and walking with our luggage to the hotel. The room was beautifully decorated with very thoughtful details. We were loved water and treats for the evening in our room, along with chocolate, so our pillow. We were asked if we’d like anything in the evening and had some more tea. In the morning the breakfast was served on the patio upstairs and it was the most amazing spread. Everyone asked if we could they could get us anything else.

United StatesThere isn’t anything I did not like though the size of the room we had was on the cozy side
The staff is very engaging and personable. They are very good at making their guests feel comfortable. The decorations are colorful and reflect the city. There is a beautiful view from the rooftop terrace where you can have breakfast. They prepared a special dinner for us one night that was the best one we had during our 4 day stay in Tangier. I have celiac disease and they were very careful in excluding gluten from my fabulous meals. The location is perfect in the heights above the fray of the port but close to beautiful views of the Strait of Gibraltar. It’s also just inside the Kasbah making it easy to find your way around from there.

Beautiful antique-filled place, very well run. Nedya was welcoming and hospitable and very generous with her time and we had excellent breakfasts and a delicious home-cooked meal. The two cats Safi and Yasmina made it even more enchanting. I would definitely stay again as it made a stay in Tangiers so memorable.

Dar Sultan is a delightful small Riad, well located and staffed by individuals who go out of their way to be accommodating. My friends and I were there for a couple of nights this past January and Nadia - the manager - arranged for us to have dinner at the Riad one evening when we opted to stay in.

Really beautiful property, artfully & eclectically decorated. Easy to find - very close to Kasbah gate. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived very late (after 11pm) due to a missing suitcase but were warmly greeted with mint tea. We had the rooftop room with private terrace which had stunning views of the city, the beach, harbour and Spain. I was unwell and couldn’t make it to breakfast. The staff insisted on bringing breakfast (ample and delicious) up to the rooftop.

CanadaA Magical Stay at Dar Sultan in Tangier Dar Sultan was truly the heart of our stay in Tangier, and we cannot recommend it enough. While Tangier itself is stunning, this charming boutique hotel made our visit even more special, to the point where we didn’t want to leave. The cozy, vibrant decor of Dar Sultan is mesmerizing. Every corner is uniquely adorned with beautiful Moroccan pieces, creating an authentic and captivating ambiance. Each room has its own personality, and we had the chance to explore other rooms during our stay—all equally stunning, colorful, and thoughtfully designed. Our room, Sharaf Roof, was a dream come true. It featured a private terrace with a breathtaking sea view, making it the perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of Tangier. The location of the hotel is also ideal, situated close to a parking lot for those renting a car. It felt very safe and convenient. Breakfast was an absolute highlight. It was included in our stay and was both delicious and heartwarming. Amal, who prepared the breakfast, treated us with such care and kindness—it felt like being looked after by a loving mom. I already miss her warmth! Ayoub, another wonderful member of the team, was a true gentleman, ensuring that everything was perfect and going out of his way to assist us. Nadia also treated us to an unforgettable Moroccan dish that was truly unique and authentic, something you won’t find anywhere else. A big thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special. Dar Sultan is a gem, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tangier. It’s a place full of heart, charm, and beauty that you’ll never forget.

The riyad is an old, very well maintained property. It is centrally located in the old town and is to navigate. The staff are welcoming, courteous and treat you individually and look after you well. A cheerful and aesthetically pleasing ambiance with a touch of luxury at a good price. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dar Sultan and will recommend it to friends and family.
