How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOur room at Dar Sharif was very beautiful and comfortable. I particularly loved the bathroom, it was a pleasure to enjoy a hot shower amongst the colourful tiles. We enjoyed having breakfast on the roof terrace, and the pastries were delicious! The area felt peaceful and friendly too, close to lots of great restaurants and the brilliant Cine Alcazar. Thank you for a great stay :)
At night the cats were quite loud in the street outside, but I don’t think this can be avoided!

Verified reviewThe property was right in the middle of the Old Medina. You are surrounded by the culture and people, and the rooftop Terrance has a beautiful view of the town.
The folks in the Medina stay up late, and since everything is so close together you can hear them talking. If you have a problem with noise and go to bed early (around 10pm), you might want to bring ear plugs.

Verified reviewAmazing roof terrace with views over the medina and of the Mediterranean Sea! Lovely clean and spacious room! Breakfast was buffet style, either to go or to eat in communal area, with everything you need whilst heading out for the day! Friendly and welcoming staff! Good location, 5 minute walk to the kasbah

A little noisy through the window at night
Thank you for your kind words! We're glad you enjoyed the location and rooftop. We're working on upgrading the windows to noise-canceling ones to improve comfort. Hope to see you again soon!

Verified reviewLocated in the medina but still close to the main street so very accessible by taxi or car. The host arranged a taxi from the airport on short notice. He also gave some good recommendation for Chefchaouen (our next stop) as he used to live there. A lot of choice on the breakfast buffet: moroccan cakes, pancakes, pastries,… Took our breakfast to the roof terrace which was very relaxing to sit on. We had the room with red walls, which was very pretty decorated.
A little noisy because of people talking in the alley next to the window but from our experience, this is not uncommon when you stay in the middle of the medina. I guess the houses/windows are not that noise cancelling as in my home country. Taxi from airport was quite expensive (30 dirham) but the driver was waiting on us to buy a sim and get cash from the atm in the airport.
Thank you for the lovely review! We're happy you enjoyed your stay! We’re working on improving window insulation for noise.

Verified reviewColourful room Good thing to receive was the heater, that warmed us throughout the night and also helped us to dry clothes after the heavy rain + Great breakfast + Panoramic view from the rooftop
It would be better to get more than 2 towels (at least an extra one for the floor or for the hands)

Verified reviewWe loved the interior deco (it felt like we were in Morocco) and had the traditional vibes. The room was really spacious, super clean, tidy and very comfortable. The host (specially Youness) was very friendly and helpful, and went out of his way to provide us with good locations for sightseeing and eating traditional dishes. They also made sure that we got our breakfast early since we had to leave early for Chefchaouen. In addition, when we requested to check out a bit later since our train was late in the afternoon, they were quite accommodating. Therefore, we got more quality time to spend at the Tangier beach as well.
Thank you for your positive energy and kind words! We always strive to do our best to ensure our guests have a wonderful experience. It was a pleasure hosting you, and you are always welcome anytime you visit Tangier. We hope to see you again soon! Safe travels and best wishes. Best regards, Dar Sharif Team

The bathroom floor is tiled, but there is no grip on the floor at all - I nearly slipped over a few times - this is dangerous.

Verified reviewThis property is in the medina; so narrow streets, lots of activity, and hustle and bustle. The property feels safe and is well managed. The breakfast is typical Moroccan. The manager Youness is very helpful and attentive and contactable on WhatsApp.
My room was on the top floor, ok for me, but not recommended for those who aren't steady on the feet or with a lot of luggage. There are some street noises of course, but it is not in the noisiest streets of the Medina

Verified reviewThe owner was very helpful and spoke excellent English. The guesthouse and room were beautiful and clean and decorated in the traditional Moroccan style. A nice free breakfast was served at 9 am. The location is great, inside the old medina and very near to the Kasbah.
In December, our room was a little cold, since there are some windows that could not be closed. Fortunately, plenty of warm blankets were provided.
Thank you for your kind review! We truly appreciate your note about the window, and we’re happy to confirm that it has been promptly fixed. We hope to welcome you back for an even cozier stay in the future! Best Dar Sharif Team

Verified reviewReally liked the Moroccan style of the room, beautiful doors and windows, comfortable bed. We had breakfast on the hotel terrace overlooking the medina.
There is no drinking water in the room or at the reception, you need to ask the hotel administrator. It's cold in the morning.
Thank you for your review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay. I’d like to clarify that bottled water is an extra service and not included in our listed facilities, but we were happy to provide it complimentary during your visit. Please note that the tap water in Tangier is drinkable. The room you booked also has an AC that can be used to heat up your room for colder mornings.
