How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt's a quaint, cosy guesthouse right in the medina and close to a gate to the new town so transfer of luggage is really easy. Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are uncluttered, clean, comfortable with charming decorations. At night, once everyone is settled, it's really quiet - we had a good nights sleep. The terrace is pretty and overlooks the medina. Breakfast was great with juice, coffe, msimen, toasted hops bread and a scrambled egg!
Most rooms face either into the interior courtyard or the terrace, so you hear clearly when people are moving around.

We felt very good and comfortable, the interior is very well taken care of and has a special flare, also the view from the terrace is very nice. The location is just perfect! We would definitely come back ! :)
Nothing, everything was great!

Verified reviewIt would be better if can have more varieties. It's quite plain and simple. Appreciate if there's choice of at least scrambled eggs or poached egg. But overall its ok. The rooms and towels are clean. It's well kept.
Please have a bidet in the toilet for hygiene purpose. We had to wait for a long time for the hot water to be available.

Verified reviewLocation and in Medina
No one spoke English until a woman came in the last morning. The reviews said they served meals and they did not. The breakfast was very basic. The help tried but couldn’t do much with what they had. The glass roof was cracked and leaked water inside when it rained. The second twin bed was a board.

Verified reviewDar Gabriel provides comfortable accommodations--the room and especially the bathroom are relatively spacious by Moroccan "Dar" standards, with places to hang your clothes. It's located on a lane attractive enough that you'll have to make your way past other tourists and visitors usiing it for their photo backdrop. But I think easily overlooked is one of its best features: it's near the edge of the medina, a short walk from a plaza where a taxi can let you off or where you can get a taxi when you leave. (There's also a farmer's market in the plaza 2 days a week.) Don't understimate the value of not having to tote your suitcases deep into the medina.
I would have to work to come up with something I didn't like, and there's no reason to do that.

Verified reviewThe AC was a savior - it did what it's supposed to do.
We are a family of 4 adults that stayed for a couple of nights in Dar Gabriel. 1. The room assigned was extremely small for 4 adults - just one small room and a tiny bathroom. The room is small for 2 people in itself - I fail to understand how it was set up as a quadruple room for 4 adults. One double bed, 2 single beds and a small table occupied almost all the space in the room, leaving a walkway to a tiny bathroom. With 5 bags of our own, we had a difficult time in the room. When we requested for a different room the lady manager said that this was the only quadruple room in the hotel. 2. Apart from the room everything else seemed very cramped and difficult to negotiate in the Dar -very tight spaces fit for one person to move at a time. 3. The cold and often rude behaviour of the staff, especially the lady who seemed to be the owner/manager of the Dar. On entering the room we realized that the room lock was not working - we had already planned a vist to a few places in Chefchaouen, so we had to leave our stuff in the room unlocked, with only an assurance that it will be safe. No apologies. 4. A small rationed bottle of soap was provided for our family and we were instructed by the lady manager to use that for handwash as well as bodywash. Which meant that we had to carry the bottle between the shower and the vanity. When we asked for at least an empty bottle to split the contents, it was not provided. 5. The breakfast was decent but arrived late. We were at the breakfast area at the scheduled time but had to wait for 30 mins. for the food to arrive on the first day. The 2nd day was better. The whole property is understaffed, managed by just 3 or 4 people, including the manager.

Verified reviewThe staff members were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location was central & close to everything we needed to see and discover, it was close to restaurants and coffee shops as well. We loved the terrace, it has a nice view.
The bed in our room was soo uncomfortable. Breakfast was missing so many things, a cold croissant with so much bread, no eggs and a terrible orange juice.

Verified reviewIt was convenient to explore the city
The staff was nice as a person but almost never available. We waited 30 min for checkin, waited 20 min for breakfast although we requested it at certain time due to later schedule, and at night there was no one in the hotel from 17:00-22:00…. The hotel was freezing especially the reception/breakfast place and had limited access to hot water.

Verified reviewThe location was wonderful, although if you book a room in the old town you’re guaranteed to be right in the heart of the blue city. Dar Gabriel, however, is located on one of the three most photographed lanes in Chefchaouen
The bed was as hard as a board (in fact I thought we were actually sleeping on a wooden board). While the owner was helpful (he helped us with our bags on the morning of our departure), he refused to get us breakfast at 7.30 when I told him we were being collected at 8 for our trip to Tangier, stating that was too early (even though breakfast was included in our Tarif).

Verified reviewLocation was good as a short walking distance from gate. Breakfast was pleasant but the same each morning. Mohamed, the Dar helper, was very helpful in numerous ways especially in organising car for God's Bridge.
Our rooms were in top floor so they heated up quickly during the day and the air-con just managed to cool them. The owner organised an air-con car from Chef to Fes for us that we had to pay her beforehand but unfortunately the air-con of the car did NOT work so we were baking over our 4 hours ride!
