How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed at Hotel Heintz and were pleasantly surprised. Although it is a 3-star hotel, the service feels more like a solid 4. The hotel is very quiet, which makes it an excellent place to get real rest – we slept wonderfully. Our junior suite had a beautiful view, which made the stay even more enjoyable. A tip for travelers: make sure to reserve a parking spot in advance, as spaces are limited and prepared individually for each guest. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, which adds a lot to the overall pleasant impression.
Breakfast is not a buffet, but rather a fixed set menu that is brought to your table. It can be enjoyable, though of course it may or may not perfectly suit everyone’s taste. Also, smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises, including balconies.

Verified reviewGreat location in the heart of Vianden. 10min walk to the chairlift and 10-15 walk to the castle. 5min down to the river. Rooms were large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, we booked parking which was appreciated.

Verified reviewVery clean, excellent location in town, walking distance to everything, including castle, friendliest staff (all of them!) I have ever experienced!
On a noisy street and had to keep windows open but air was very cool, even cold at night. But they had a fan which drowned out the noise (after 10 it was very quiet!).

Verified reviewBeautiful location, breakfast was lovely. Noise in the hotel was noticeable
The receptionist that checked us in was not pleasant. We didn't know we had to call to get reserved parking there is NO mention on your website that parking is limited, just says free parking with pictures of an empty parking lot. Please update your website, you are deceiving ppl. If I had known I had to reserve a space near the hotel I would have. The receptionist was not nice about this.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review! An advice for your next booking, please check the amenities of a room before doing a reservation. We do not have AC's in rooms due to environmental issues - that's why you can ask for a complimentary fan at check-in. Hope you had a good return, Carole

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review! We do not have an AC in the rooms, please check the amenities of each room category before doing a reservation. The balcony rooms (different category) are more quiet, they are overlooking our garden and the protection wall of Vianden. Hope you had a good return, the management!

Verified reviewNice terrace facing a quiet hillside. Very pretty grounds for a hotel right in the village. Staff were all very kind and helpful. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. We asked for and were provided a fan and a kettle for the room. The restored building is beautiful.
All good.

Verified reviewVery clean and tidy large double room and bathroom with good shower pressure Location in the heart of town for bars and restaurants Secure parking on site for motorcycles Friendly & helpful staff Drinks served on the terrace Very pleasant surroundings
For 15 Euros, we'd like to have seen a better selection for breakfast e.g. fresh fruit & berries, cereals, yoghurts Breakfast to start a little earlier than 0800
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review! Our continental breakfast is served daily from 8am until 10am - we have been so nice to offer it already a bit earlier to your motorbike group (which was quite noisy in the morning) as everything was ready. I am sorry to hear that you did not like it as most of the guest appreciate our service and the breakfast. It is a reduced breakfast at a reduced price, you're in Luxembourg ;) We try to offer regional products to our guests - quality over quantity. Guests can decide day by day if they want to have it or not, at check-in everything is well explained and a picture displays what is offered (coffee, tea or hot chocolate, orange juice, small yoghurt, marmalade, nutella, honey, butter, plate of cheese and a plate of ham, rolls, croissants, hard boiled eggs). There is as well a bakery down the road (1 minute walking distance). Hope you had a good return, the management!

Verified reviewLocation was fantastic for exploring beautiful Vianden. The staff were welcoming, thoughtful and polite. Beds were super comfy and the garden terrace was a great place to unwind and relax.
Our room was quite noisy with the traffic going by on the Main Street - not the hotels fault at all but if we returned I would book a garden room.
