How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis hotel is just stunning inside and out, I prefer smaller private hotels to large chains, and this one was perfect. We were travelling by motorcylce and this Hotel had a garage for them which is always a bonus, although I suspect you could park any vehicle in the centre of Vianden with they keys in the ignition and it would still be there the next day (Note: I do not take responsibility if anyone decides to test this theory) The apperance of the Hotel is stunning inside and out, and the rooms are really nice, and I would imagine very one a slightly different size and shape due to the nature of the building, but it seems a lot of thought has been put into making them nice. When we arrived @7PM it was packed with people eating, and made where to eat an easy decision as the food looked great - and was. The staff were excellent, getting us checked in quickly and opening the garage for us to store the motorbikes. It is only a short walk into the town centre where there are many shops, cafes and restaurants, and the Hotel is just beneath the Castle so perfectly places for tourist activities. Cannot comment on breakfast as the Hotel was closed the day after our stay, but there is a bakery just down the hill and we were told we could chekc out whenever we liked, so we wandred down to the Bakery and brought food back to eat at Hotel. We will definately be returning.

Verified reviewThe hotel has very traditional decor throughout with the rooms being modern whilst still maintain the charm. Very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Staff very welcoming. We ate in the restaurant and all I can say is wow. The food was incredible. The recent hot weather made the rooms very hot but the staff had fans in to help.

Verified reviewGreat location and lovely welcome on check in by the very busy host. Bed very comfortable and clean. Motorbike parking available. Nice steak for dinner.
We had the room with the glass bathroom, light was broken, shower leaked and sink didn’t drain. Cooling unit didn’t work, they looked at it and said someone would mend later. It didn’t happen despite asking 3 times. Very surly waitress at dinner spoilt what should have been a lovely meal.

Verified reviewWe arrived from Rotterdam on our motorbikes very wet. Within 10 minutes our bikes had been locked in their garage and we were unloaded and in our room. The Auberge is a stunning building and our room was warm and cosy. It over looked the road but there wasnt much road noise until the village started to wake up in the morning but we did sleep with the window open. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind, nothing was too much trouble for them including the Irish coffees while we dried off. We ate in the restaurant that night and the food was great.

Verified reviewJust the most picturesque location and a lovely rustic hotel! The food there is also superb. Amazing dinner, worth every penny. I recommend this location for anyone looking for a special short getaway.
There is no lift, so travel light. If, like us, it's an in-between stay, pack an overnight bag, and leave the big suitcase in the car ;). The mattress was a bit too soft in one of our rooms, but everyone has their preference!

Verified reviewBeautiful building and location. The restaurant on the ground floor also has a great ambience.
It was a shame the restaurant was closed during our stay, eventhough it was not listed on the website. That is my only note, it was a great location.

Verified reviewI had dinner here in 2024 with my partner and I was so impressed that I came back to stay for three nights this year with a friend. What impressed me last year was the friendliness and the professionalism of the staff, all of whom are absolutely top notch and they all work as a team (it was in the middle of a heatwave when we stayed - despite what must have been tough conditions in the kitchen they stuck on a smile and got on with it!). Food is exceptional - absolutely loved it.
Nothing really. It was during a severe heatwave throughout Europe. The team do their best with fans (they are a good size and filled with cold water) but it was warm despite their best efforts but that will be true of pretty much all hotels in the regions.

Verified reviewStaff very friendly and good with our kids, rooms very well appointed and comfortable, food in restaurant very tasty and generous portions...and perfect location for a one-night stopover in Vianden, close to everything you'd want to see.
It was very hot in the rooms (the day had been 30-degrees plus) and although there were small, plug-in air conditioning units provided these did not cool the room below 28 degrees in the night. This was quite challenging with two young children! But I'm not sure anything else could have been done given the heatwave.
