How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff is nice, location is good for exploring railway station area or going to rock/metal club Lemmy. Kitchen area is nice.
The traffic noise is just awful, even when you have earplugs. Sleeping can be a struggle. Lots of guys drift and speed their cars in the middle of the night, especially on weekends.

Verified reviewGood location an available wifi. Not many people stayed there.
Ladies bathroom door does not fully close or lock. I had unpleasant encounter with another guest because of this. Reception lady did not speak Lithuanian or English. It was very difficult to communicate. I was asked to pay again even though I paid. The shower had the same piece of plastic lying on the ground from Friday to Sunday - not sure how often it is cleaned. :/ There was no shower gel. Poor ventilation in the rooms. One lady sprayed something in the room and I had to open the windows, which are barely accessible, so I ran away to try to breathe through bathroom window, but someone has just smoked a cigarette there, so I just packed and left. I stayed in 8 bed room and there were plenty of beds available, but I was put to one which is on second floor of the bunk bed, which is not very comfortable to climb. Also, there are warnings that you are not allowed to drink alcohol in the hostel. This was not noted in the rules when reserving the room. I wanted to have a beer after long day, but oh well...

Verified reviewI stayed at this hostel in Kaunas for a few nights and overall it was a good experience -solid 4 stars. The rooms were spacious, and they were kind enough to give me the lower bunk by the window, just as I requested, which I really appreciated. Wi-Fi was decent, around 20–30 Mbps down, but I was expecting something closer to 100–150 Mbps, so that was a bit of a letdown. Another downside was the cleanliness of the bathroom - it definitely needed more attention, as there were some small flies around. Unfortunately, the laundry machines were also out of order during my stay. That said, the location was super convenient - right next to the central train and bus stations, which is exactly why I chose it. Keep in mind, though, it’s about a 30-minute walk from the city center. The price felt a little high for a 4-bed dorm considering the overall conditions, but for a short stay and good transport access, it worked well.

Verified reviewClose to train and bus station.
Weird smell, poor security (weak door codes and advice not to put valuables in the lockers meant for keeping valuables safe), maintenance so-so at best and room not very clean—grimy carpet, dusty corners. No electric outlet close to my bed and so little space between top and bottom bunk that I hit my head multiple times, despite not being very tall. Based on staff behaviour (coming into room at random to talk to residents), the environment (bare bones, no safety regulations, no tourist accommodations etc.) and the guests I was put in a room with, this accommodation serves as a semi-permanent living space for primarily working men. Did not feel comfortable or entirely safe here and checked out as early as I could after spending the night. Would not recommend this to tourists and solo female travellers in particular unless they're into feeling lost and somewhat sketchy, risky environments. Was like a surreal liminal space or something.

Verified reviewEven though it was definitely not in the best part of the lovely city of Kaunas, its location was good. A very short walk from both the railway station and the bus station with a direct service to Kaunas Airport. The hostel was very clean and the staff extremely helpful. Slightly wider beds than other hostels which suited me well . Easy to catch a bus to the beautiful historic parts of the city
I think the hostel caters more for travelling workers than backpackers seeing the world.

Verified reviewEverything was really good during my stay. The place was clean, well-maintained, and had a pleasant atmosphere. It’s also conveniently located close to the bus station, which made getting around very easy. I truly appreciated the overall comfort and convenience.
While my overall experience was good, I do have a couple of suggestions. It would be great if curtains were added to the beds to provide more privacy for guests. Also, I had an unfortunate experience where some of my food was taken from the fridge, which was really disappointing.
