How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe room was spotless, and I had no complaints at all. It was quite spacious, especially the bedroom, which felt very comfortable. I appreciated that all the essentials were provided—plenty of towels, shower gel, body lotion, and even coffee. I also loved that the room came equipped with cutlery, a coffee maker, a microwave, and a mini fridge, which made the stay even more convenient.
The hotel felt far too expensive for the level of comfort it offered. It’s located in an old wooden building, which unfortunately carries a noticeable smell of mold. The hallways were uninviting and lacked any sense of coziness. The bathroom was very outdated, and the windows were old and difficult to open or close. Most of the furniture felt cheap, which made the overall experience disappointing—definitely not worth the high price.

Verified reviewI am staying in El Nido for 8 years in a row - it is an amazing value for the price. The rooms are clean, location is superb, and I love that each year they think of additional improvements - eg. this year they made coffee/tea station next to the reception, more sitting places in the inner yard
there is some mold in the showers, probably better ventilation could help

Verified reviewLocation is excellent , right in the town center overlooking water. Small garden at the back to chill, hostel provides free coffees, teas and snacks. Very basic accommodation , but clean .
Some facilities are shared (like kitchen ) ,there is no fridge in each unit. These are summer houses so walls between apartments are very thin and you could hear everything what your neighbours do, thankfully no loud guests when we stayed. Only have 3 car parking spaces which need to be reserved in advance , otherwise most affordable long term car park ( 6 €/ night ) is located about 20 min walk away .

I booked this place, considering the pictures portraying a nice done up place, looks like recently renovated, all fresh, has a nice decor throughout, even free shower gels, shampoos, soaps, the reviews were great overall, location fantastic. Prices also suggested the owners invested quite a bit into the property. We paid on average 110 euros per night. And it was nonrefundable. When we come to the place, I couldn't be more shocked and embarrassed. I had elderly guests from the UK with us staying there. The place looked nothing like the pictures. It was more like a soviet times student accommodation. It was run down, dark and smelly. Light fittings were not properly attached, carpets looked like they were used for the last 30 years, doors and windows old. Some light switches had 30 years worth layers of paint. The ceiling in the corridor next to reception was leaking rain water. It was not what I expected based on the add. The owners in this property are using false advertising. After the stay, I went to see other people's reviews and then recognised all the issues they were describing. I wouldn't have paid more than 20 euros per night for that. I have to say, this is my second attempt at leaving a review. After the first one, I received a call from the property, trying to buy my silence and delete my review, which I refused. We agreed i would improve the score a little for 10% refund. In the end, no refund, the review was gone and I had to take 10 times more steps to be able to leave another review. All thanks to booking.com customer service, they were really helpful in sorting the issue. I wonder how many excellent reviews are actually excellent with this property.... Avoid this place.

Noise settles down around 0.00 in the night and starts again as early as 7.00 only so really hard to sleep then even with earbuds.
