How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had an amazing stay! The accommodation is located right on the beach and is absolutely beautiful. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home. The food was delicious – the fish and chicken bbq was a treat. The swimming pool was perfect for relaxing. At night, we could sleep with the doors open and fall asleep to the soothing sound of the ocean in the background – truly magical. As a special touch, we even received a lovely farewell gift, something we will always remember. Without a doubt, this was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. We would love to come back again! 🌴✨

Verified reviewAmazing beach with millions of shells to collect, very nice host, stylish cottages. we loved the saltwater pool.
The sea is rather wild and the rocks make it dangerous to swim, but for this there is the pool. Some of the facilities could get a little maintenance, but nothing critical. Simple and good value for moneY.

Verified reviewThis is paradise on earth. We had a house right on the beach, there is a swimming pool, a restaurant, sun loungers, a shelter on the beach... They welcomed us with a fruit drink. You have the most beautiful beach on the island to yourself, even in the highest season there were a minimum of people here.

Verified reviewAs a property owner, I know that giving the low rating is a disaster, so I give 9/10 in advance. Actually it could be about 6/10 since there is a lot to improve. As for the good: the location and the wildlife format (for those who are ready for that). You live like in a tent on the beach, so nature is all yours, including all animals: monkeys, iguanas, squirrels, crabs, bats, bugs... Good news we didn't have any insects in our beds. The apartments are "spartan" style, can't be called "sparkling clean", but neat enough, and have toilet. The sound of the ocean is stunning, but can become a challenge for many (including my wife and little son). The beach itself is awesome, but to swim you need to go to the left about 500 meters. The pool with sea water is a great idea and was loved by our kids. To sum up, I can recommend staying here for 2-3 nights maximum, because it can't be called a comfort place, but it could be an interesting experience ;)
As I mentioned above, there's a lot to improve. The biggest problem is the absence of any usual stuff in the apartment. No fridge, no kettle, no cups and plates (but were taken from the kitchen), even no broom. As a result you have to ask the staff even for boiled water to get some coffee for breakfast. The squirrels may steal your food, so why not add a fridge? No fridge means no cold beer, no yoghurts for breakfast... I think the idea was that you always have to use their restaurant, but it's pretty expensive and they are weak in cooking. Even the pasta was a disaster here. I wonder why these women spend all their lives in the kitchen but still unable to learn how to cook ))) So the breakfast here is fruits and the dinner is somewhere nearby (the prices everywhere are pretty high, because they are spoiled by rich European tourists). We had a car so it wasn't a big problem to go to the supermarket (but were limited in food choice since we had no fridge, no cooker, not kitchenware), but finding a good restaurant here is a challenge. The absence of a broom makes the apartment full of sand right the next day. There is no hot water in the shower (not a big problem). So, to sum up, my advice to the owner: just add a fridge, kettle, plates, spoons, forks, knife, cups, broom. The rental price is not cheap so you can afford it. Good luck :)

The food was okay, I'd recommend eating somewhere else, but there are good options walking distance from there.

Verified reviewWow - really special and unique stay here. Truly on the beach. Loved hearing the sea right next to us while in bed. Shower was also great - really powerful. Staff were also lovely and the hotel’s bar/ restaurant was the perfect place for sunset drinks on the beach.

Verified reviewAmazing open tree house, with the oceans just meters away! Beautiful pool, spacious room.
Too much wildlife in the cabana, have in mind that it is basically an semi-open tree house (at least the one that we were staying in). Might need some deep clean once in a while.

Verified reviewThe location was amazing - in front of the beach, the perfect setting to unwind. Great view from the room. At the end, the reception offered a small gift that felt nice and personal, super sweet.
Felt like an overpriced camping. The toilet was outside of the room and you had to climb some stairs. After the toilet, you had to go down to wash your hands and then back to the room. The towels were dirty and the room could be cleaner. Mosquito net too small - you had to try a lot to not have it all over your face while sleeping. You cannot buy anything on the evening, so if you need water you have to go to the city. Also, keep in mind that this is nature - we found lizards poop that was not there the previous day (and of course the hotel is not responsible about it, but I have to mention it). For the money we payed (approx 50$ per night), this was not a value for money.
