Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyFood and spa is a bit expensive.
It was a very nice place to stay. Muic until 22.30 was ok but if you want to go sleep earlie than its a bit annoying. For the dambulla temple its a realy nice place only 10 min by foot. The pool is very nice and the room is really big. We also get an upgrade to a family room for the same price. Only food price is a bot expensive and the spa could be cheaper.

AustraliaThe property felt a bit tired and in need of some upgrades/replacement sunbeds etc. We had booked a pool view room, but were given an ‘upgrade’ to a family room, which didn’t overlook the pool, so felt a bit cheated out of a view. The hot water was also hit and miss. We didn’t really have a choice but to eat at the accommodation as we were advised that local eateries were very local and didn’t serve alcohol (we like a drink with our dinner). Dinners were fine but there were no chairs with backs making if a little uncomfortable for me.
Jungle vibe, friendly staff, clean rooms and a great ginger arrack cocktail! We also left some items behind in the safe and the staff were helpful in looking after them until we passed through again a few days later. Nice breakfast, served on a traditional tray. We did laugh one day when they ran out of tea pots and took ours away part way through drinking to give to other guests and brought ours back with a saucer as a replacement lid!

The resort has a jungle feeling, with a lot of wild vegetation and animals all around. The pool in the middle makes it cozy also during the hot nights. Nice welcoming staff. We got also an upgrade and the room was big. Wonderful breakfast. Walk distance from Dambulla Rock Temple. Had the chance to have a massage. It was also good. Parking area with staff helping.

United KingdomVery helpful staff. Reasonable facilities although swimming pool was not fully functioning due to pump faults. Cleanliness was average. Food was traditional and of good standard. The hotel is mostly a building site and large areas are under active construction. Hotel provided a very helpful, friendly driver.

AustraliaFound the music played at pool bar quiet loud at night but we did go to bed quiet early given our early starts!
Great pool and swim up bar. Laid back vibe away from the busyness of the main drag. Rooms comfortable, breakfast fabulous, restaurant on site made for an easy dinner option. Close to Dambulla caves.

New ZealandWe didn't enjoy the very relaxed and layed back attitude of the staff and sometimes lack of organisation and communication: I.e. our room that we checked in wasn't our original booking ,room service wasn't completed as we weren't informed that we had to leave the keys behind. However, the porter was lovely and even helped us to book a bus to kandy. Our breakfast was also accomdated to my allergies. We believe that for the price we paid, we could expect a bit more service ,attentiveness, better am enities, and facilities.Unfortunately, we wouldnt come back again. Also the images on the website was not accurate.
The greenery on the property was a nice contrast to the otherwise very dry Dambulla. We also enjoyed the efforts made by staff to accommodate our dietary requirements for breakfast.

AustraliaThey seemed understaffed so meals were a little stressful with long waits to order and for food at each meal. Both my boys cut themselves in the pool because of the uneven surfaces / broken tiles.
The location was good and some of the staff were really attentive. They were able to make a takeaway brekky when we went to climb Pidurangala Rock at dawn.

United KingdomRestaurant service could have been better. Options were more limited at different times than suggested, and could be slow. There is a large construction project next to the hotel but it wasn't too disruptive. We had to request for the room to be cleaned and for supplies to be replenished. Quite overgrown around the pool so lots of ants.
Tilly was great driver for excursions, and reception were helpful arranging tours. The room was nice, and bathroom was good too. Breakfast was decent. Good location walking distance to cave Temples.

United KingdomThe accommodation was rather tired but we stayed during an exceptional rain storm which meant everything was wet with some flooding across the complex.
Friendly, helpful staff. Accommodation was rather shabbier than shown in the pictures but it was clean and comfortable. The complementary massage on arrival was a pleasant surprise. Well located for the Damballa temple complex.

AustraliaThe menu was limited for vegetarians and a bit stodgy / fried carbs focussed. Coffee machine at the bar could be running a bit earlier than 11:00am.
Staff were great and flexible. They let us choose our preferred room. Great view of the Dambulla cave temple mountain from our balcony. Breakfast was epic every time, a whole experience. The Masseurs were excellent and a very peaceful garden. Bruno the dog was a delightful guardian and protector from the monkeys.

IndiaVery friendly & extremely helpful people managing the nice little property. Has a nice little pool & bar alongside. Excellent breakfast included in our booking & a complimentary 15 minutes massage in the Spa during the stay made it a great value package overall. About 1km from the Dambulla Cave Temple & 2 km from the main town. Special thanks to the Security staff who helped us getting the AC bus to Kandy (made calls to find the exact time when the bus passes the Hotel & helped us board the bus just outside the Hotel). Highly recommended.

United KingdomVery very minor: - There was no toilet paper in the room so we went to reception to get some and they asked us to follow them to another room where they got one and we then took it up to our room. Not a big deal at all but it would’ve been nicer service if they had brought it up to the room. - The ladies doing the free massage were 15 minutes late, not a big deal as there was a big apology for this.
The property is in a great location and it’s lovely once you’re there. The pool is gorgeous, especially at night when it’s lit up. Very atmospheric! The room was lovely with a nice balcony and clean, well equipped bathroom. There’s both a fan and AC so you can choose what’s best for the temperature. The staff were super helpful and nice: they allowed us to check in early and brought us juice and fruit. They also exchanged money for us which was really useful. The free massage and free breakfast were both great. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it! We’re sorry we couldn’t tip as we didn’t have the right change on us, but service definitely deserved it!
