Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe wifi was quite slow sometimes, but given the location in the middle of nature we didn’t miss it :)
The place was located in nature, but only a short tuktuk ride away from the town. It was very calm and relaxing to be surrounded by nature. The family was very friendly and welcoming and supported us with the organization of our trips in the area, including driving us to the locations and giving us advice of what to do/see in the area. The hospitality was out of this world. The food was excellent, fresh and home-cooked everyday. Thank you for the great time!

NetherlandsStaying in a tree house did not disappoint. The houses are very basic, but contain what is needed. It is wonderful being able to sit on your own private balcony and enjoy nature so close. The owners are exceptionally warm and friendly people. They helped arrange a tuktuk to go to Sigiriya center, a very nice jeep safari, and a driver for us to go to our next location. Breakfast and dinner were freshly cooked and enjoyable. They also organize cooking classes, which we didn’t do because of time, but I have little doubt that this would have been great. We had a nice stay, this place is very good value for your money.

United KingdomThe room could do with being just a bit more equipped, such as a few hooks or pegs to hang things up like sponge bags. Also another table or something to put our luggage on, as we had to stoop down on the floor to get anything out.
It is located outside of the village in a beautiful tranquil setting with a lovely stream running parallel with the road and light agriculture either side. The accommodation is quite basic, but this is reflected in the price so really can't have any complaints. And it was good to strip away some of our excesses and to "camp" for a few nights. The tree houses are suitably separated to ensure privacy and the owner is super helpful and is an excellent cook. You can easily walk into Sigiriya but we hired bikes for the duration of our stay and cycled everywhere which was excellent and liberating.

PolandThe place and the family running the facility are wonderful and hospitable. The place is quiet, authentic, full of greenery and peace. Outside the window are trees and rice fields. The owners are not pushy, they could organize a great safari, any tour nearby or a cooking class for a fee. Delicious homemade food could be prepared by the Ladies owner (breakfast or dinner). This place is for CONSCIOUS tourists, who know where they are going, who want contact with nature and rural life :)

As a budget accommodation it is absolutely perfect! We stayed 3 days there and we enjoyed it a lot! It is surrounded by nature! It is a couple of km from town so less than 1 euro to get a tuk tuk! ( in any case the owner always offers himself to take you to town for free). He and his wife were really really helpful and they were so nice. If you need anything, like renting a scooter or laundry, they will really sort it out and for a good price! Last thing: the owner has a big jeep and can bring you to the elephant safari at the same price offered by the agencies in town. However, the difference is that you will be alone in the jeep! We saw more than 20 elephants!!! Finally! We loved the place and we loved them!

Super friendly, Roshan happily took us on an elephant safari and tours as well on to our next location all at good prices. Its a walk to town but they will take / pick you in their tuk tuk. Breakfast were the best we had in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka, wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

AustraliaThis is such a beautiful place to stay with a lovely little family taking care of you. The tree houses are very natural and it’s lovely to sit out on the balcony and watch the rain. The food is incredible and the cooking class was great. You are able to organise drives and trips directly with Roshan and they are so accomodating of everything you need. GermanyBecause of wild elephants you cant leave the area in the dark, but it's no problem when you know how to spend time with a good book, nice people or just enjoy the view.
Great location in the middle of the jungle with different animals in and around our tree house. Absolutely nice animal noises. Super friendly family and the best food we tried in Sri Lanka. Everyone has to do the cooking class. Absolutely great experience.

CyprusIt was a beautiful tree house that make me feel very close to the jungle. Love it. The best part though was the amazing cooking of the lady owner and that her husband owned a jeep and a tuk tuk and he helped me out in all my moves. I am deeply grateful. Very much recommended 👌

The family that runs it is super kind. The accommodation is in a quiet area and the rooms are amazing. The owner has his own tuktuk and Jeep to take you in safari or to take you anywhere you want. Recommend!

GermanyRoshan and his family were great hosts! They welcomed us into a treehouse situated at their home, a beautiful forest garden teaming with birds and other wildlife. The included breakfast and additionally booked dinner was just amazing and we ate there each night. Roshan provided transportation to and from the lion rock and Pidurangala rock before sunrise and we also went on an exciting afternoon safari to Minneriya national park with him. We can recommend all those activities. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay there. It was sad to leave such welcoming and kind people after such a short amount of time. If you have the chance and enjoy nature, go ahead and book your stay at this awesome place.

SingaporeIt was amazing! The treehouse looked really good and the hosts were super nice. When we arrived they asked what we wanted to do during our stay and they helped us make it all possible. First, they drove us to the pidurangala rock for sunrise. When we got back a delicious breakfast was waiting and after that they gave us a cooking class (for free!!). In the afternoon they drove us with their own jeep to the minneriya park for the elephant safari. It was a once in a lifetime experience !! They also drove us to the restaurants with their tuktuk a few times and they even helped us arrange a taxi all the way to nuwara eliya. Overall the experience was really good and the hosts were very welcoming and sweet. We were only a bit scared of some little frogs in our bathroom, but that’s what you get for staying in the jungle :) We would definitely come back.
