Very cute place with unbeatable view on Sigiriya. Clean and cozy rooms. Very kind and attentive host family who prepares delicious meals. We were able to walk both rocks from the accommodation on foot, which was super convenient. We also recommend Village Tour 2, especially the cooking classes.

Area is remote, but this is what we were looking for and so close to those tourist spots.

The location is within a short walking distance to Pidurangala hike and Lion Rock. The family are really hospitable, looked after us really well and cooked some great food.

We loved the location – it’s perfectly situated between Pidurangala Rock and the famous Sigiriya Lion Rock. We visited both during our stay, and they were easy to reach on foot, or the owner kindly offered to drive us. We also had both dinner and breakfast at the accommodation, and both were absolutely delicious. The family who runs the place is incredibly friendly and really goes out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Whenever we needed something, we could just text them via WhatsApp and they responded quickly. A really warm and welcoming experience overall!

Although location is impressive, it can be difficult to get transport, most drivers would refuse to drive you to this location due to the challenging dirt roads. This means we would make the 20min walk to town in the very hot climate. There is also local warning not to stay out past dark due to trampling elephants (we did not see any wild elephants) this is slightly limiting with lack of transport. Hosts were friendly but not particularly helpful. Lion rock was $50 AUD whilst Pidurangala Rock is I would say is a more beautiful view was $10.

Location is impressive and really enjoyed the Pidurangala Rock walk at sunset which is an 10min walk from the property. Garden around the property is loverly, room was good and A/C was great. We did see lots of local animals monkeys, lizards and elephant poo and had a cool feel being ‘amongst the jungle’

Beautiful view. Staff were very helpful during our stay and can organise day trips and transport for you. Good food at the guest house also. A bit out of the main town but lovely location that is a bit quieter.

It’s a beautiful viewpoint, especially at sunrise. you can see the first light hitting Sigiriya Rock. A fantastic spot with truly stunning views.

An amazing view to Lion Rock and just it is just 10 miles it’s away from the mountain . The food is delicious ❤️ They can drive you early in the morning to the Lion rock :) I had a pleasant night and I felt safe staying there.

This was our first stay in Sri Lanka and this guesthouse immediately made us fall in love with the country! The hosts were the sweetest people ever and couldn’t do more to look after us. We were welcomed with tea and Anusha made us the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts and dinners which we ate with an incredible view overlooking Sigiriya rock. They also arranged a safari and day trip to Polonaruwa and onward travel to our next destination. The location was excellent - it was peaceful and felt like we were right in the middle of the jungle. It was also a very close walk to Pidurangula rock which was a stunning hike. I will absolutely be recommending this place to stay - it was 10/10. Thank you so much!

We had a wonderful stay at Sigiri Close Up View Guest! The highlight was definitely the view of Lion Rock—you can literally enjoy it right from the property. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious. Definitely worth the money. If you’re visiting Sigiriya, I highly recommend staying here. The view alone is worth it, but the service and overall atmosphere make it even better.

The staff were lovely and very welcoming. They cooked us a beautiful dinner and arrange a safari. The facilities were basic but fine for two nights. The location is off the beaten track so will need a driver or Tuktuk rather than walking.

Value for money is exceptional. The rooms are functional and clean, but where it stands out is location, view, meals and hospitality. Nearby roads are tricky with a low vehicle, but fine with jeep, tuk tuk. They can arrange transport to Sigiriya. Also, no walking around after dark. Elephants are in the area.

Incredible views and location as you are in the middle of the wilderness. Great staff and delicious food service. The rooms aren’t very modern but they are comfortable and clean. Perfect for solo travellers/couples looking for a unique and quiet place to stay surrounded by nature.

Far away from other houses and main streets, this is a nice and peaceful place to stay. We booked the “Villa” so our room had the view right on Sigiriya Lion Rock. The hosts were kind and seems really nice people. They offers you breakfast in the morning for 1600Lkr per person. The place is just 10min walk from Pidurangala Rock, so it’s the best place to stay if you want to visit it.

The location is an absolute dream, both Lions Rock (15min) and Pidurangala Rock (10min) are within easy walking distance of the accommodation. The place is absolutely beautiful, especially the garden with the view of Lions Rock and the nature. The best thing though was the extremely friendly family who looked after us. They helped us in the best possible way with all our concerns. The breakfast and dinner that they cook there especially for the guests is really great.

This place is really in the jungle. Enjoyed being so in the middle of the beautiful nature. The hosts were truly lovely. This was our first stop in Sri Lanka and gave a really good start and feeling for the trip ahead.

Very convenient to both Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock. Close View is a bit tucked away. You will need help finding it the first time. But once found the family that runs it are wonderful and very helpful in anything you might need. They gave us a pre-dawn ride Pidurangala Rock to hike to the top for sunrise views so that we might avoid wild elephants that wander around at night, but then we easily walked back in the light. The town itself is half a mile or so away, but a nice walk around the ramparts or a short tuktuk ride. Wild peacocks and a view of Lion Rock accompanied our breakfast on the hotel's little outdoor verandah. Peaceful. Would definitely choose Close View again.
