We loved our stay here, the location was good for exploring Pollonaruwa, Minneriya and the Lion Rock. The chalet is comfortabele and the terrace offers view on Lion rock. What made our stay special was the kindness and personal care of Lasantha. He was so friendly and was always available for advice and help. Even when we left, he checked if we arrived well at our next destination. The location, the food and the personal touch made our stay a well-deserved 10!

Amazingly friendly and helpful staff, so warm-hearted and hospitable and really going the extra mile for their guests. Great accommodation and location, with a bathroom (showering) with a view on Sigirya Rock😍 Location is quiet, waking up and swimming in the well kept pool with that stunning view and a variety of wild birds. Sights like the national parks and Sigirya rock are easily accessible and tours can be arranged by the staff. Appartment has airconditioning and comfortable beds and is very clean. Breakfast and diner are fresh, home cooked and of excellent quality and taste. Highly recommended.

The family cottage is built directly into the crown of a big tree. Great experience. I loved the private outdoor bathroom. Nice view to Sigirya fromm the wooden terrace. The pool is a great chilling option after the early morning hike to the "Lion".

We absolutely loved our stay at rock shade chalet!! The rooms were very comfortable and bright. The staff were absolutely exceptional - they were so attentive and polite. It was my boyfriend’s birthday during our stay and they surprised us with a cake! They grow a lot of their own food that they use in their restaurant so it’s all fresh produce. Excellent all round

The curtains are not opaque so when the sun rises, the room becomes extremely bright, which can trouble your sleep.

The service was perfect. The staff was extremely attentive and made their best to make us happy. From preparing a dessert that was not even on the menu to arranging any tuk tuk or cars for a visit, they really took great care of us. The location is quite remote but it was amazing to be surounded by nature. Moreover, as they helped us to arrange any visit (always for a reasonable price), it did not feel like we were limited due to the distance. The room was big and clean, and the bed comfortable. The pool was very pleasant too, and regulalrly cleaned. Regarding the food, they have a restaurant with a great variety and everything that we tried was very good. The breakfast was also delicisous and very consistent. This was one of the best stay during our trip in Sri Lanka. We highly recommand it and would come back if we have the opportunity.

There seem to be repeated incidents of overbooking based on other reviews. Manager Ajith handled our mix-up smoothly and quickly. However, the receptionist brought up the booking issue while we were having dinner on our private terrace, which felt unnecessary and disruptive. Also, it was raining and extremely slippery on the terrace and stairs, with no protection against slipping on the smooth cement surface. The sharp hand railing could be dangerous if someone falls.

The young cleaning staff was always smiling and friendly and did a fantastic job — the room was spotless. The natural surroundings were beautiful, and falling asleep to the sounds of nature was very soothing.

A special, authentic experience in the Jungle. Very welcoming hosts! We were greeted with fresh juice and given info on local activities. Tuk Tuks arranged on request, including 4am journeys to Lions Rock for Sunrise :) Very relaxing by the pool after hiking in the mornings. Room’s are great, mosquitoes nets included (very useful) Lovely people. Highly recommended!

Our accommodation featured a private balcony where we spent hours marveling at the spectacular vistas. The room was meticulously appointed with comfortable beds featuring quality linens, effective air conditioning, and thoughtful amenities that ensured our restful stay. One of the most distinctive features we enjoyed was the unique outdoor bathroom concept, offering an invigorating connection with nature while maintaining complete privacy. Though initially unusual for us, this element quickly became a cherished part of our Rock Shade experience. If you prefer to be close to restaurants and other attractions in Sigiriya then I would probably book elsewhere. The tuk tuk prices seemed quite expensive compared to other parts of Sri Lanka.

The resort is outside the center of Sigirya which is one of the highlights of our stay. It was good to be immersed in nature, a lot of wild animals around, good facilities (including pool). The staff has been amazing!!!! They have their locally grown fruits and vegetables, we had dinner twice during our stay, and they helped us arrange the safari. Highly recommended

This place was an absolute gem! We only stayed one night, but it was unforgettable. The accommodation was truly a treehouse experience, with a lovely pool and incredibly warm staff. They went above and beyond — they even cleaned and decorated our tuk tuk with flowers without us asking. It was such a sweet surprise and gave us a memory to cherish.
