The approach road from Rekawe beach road is quite bad-- there is just about 1 road- (exit opposite Sumudu grocery shop) that is acceptable for cars/taxi- and this road does not show on google maps! It is not a walkable distance to the main road/ Tangalle town or Rekawe- you will definitely need a tuk-tuk to go around. The food at the resort (cooked by the host) was tasty- we had lunch- but a tad expensive for home cooked meals. - almost 2 times the standard pricing.

Beautiful lagoon facing room, soooooper spacious room and bathroom. Very clean, immaculately kept and great facilities. Very gracious and helpful staff. will definitely recommend for a relaxing time by the lagoon, great for turtle watching at Rekawe beach. The host arranged a tuk tuk for us to go around too..

I had a really good few days there , Lalith and his wife are so lovely and very helpfull . the place is so peaceful, good size pool and really clean . I had an amazing massage there too . if you want peace in a quiet place surrounded by nature ,its the perfect spot !

This was our favourite place during our trip travelling around Sri Lanka. Beautiful spot, full of wildlife. Lovely comfortable larger than normal rooms (we had a triple room). Staff super helpful and friendly. Great food, we ate there for lunch and dinner. They made delicious pancakes for our Son on top of the yummy breakfast. Lush pool area, very clean. Free kayaks where you can easily go across the lagoon to a beautiful beach, or along the lagoon. They have a spa, I had a few treatments; each of them great with reasonable rates. Easy to go into town by Tuk Tuk or Uber, not far. However, you could easily just stay at this little pocket of paradise and enjoy it for everything it's been made to be. We stayed here for 3 nights and created a wonderful memory. We would easily return tomorrow and stay longer. Tangalle is a great place to visit and be sure to add this lovely intimate resort to your list of places to stay

What made our week’s stay at Lagoon Gate Tangalle Resort truly exceptional was how well looked after we were by Lalith and his family. My friend and I were interested in yoga and exploring, and not only did Lalith connect us with everyone to ensure we had the best possible experiences, from yoga and kayaking to whale and turtle watching, but we got to discover the closely connected local community. Rooms were spacious and spotless, our meals were freshly home-cooked, and there was plenty to see in the tropical grounds. Tangalle is a stunning part of Sri Lanka, and we are grateful that we really got to make the most of it.

My wife and I stayed at Lagoon Gate during our short trip to Tangalle. Due to the affordable cost of the lodgings, we were unsure what type or property it would be and what kind of service we would get; however, once arriving, we were very impressed with the property and the staff on site. The rooms are spacious and very clean, complete with a balcony to relax on in the evening. The swimming pool on site is warm and has a great surrounding area. As the property only has 6-8 guesthouses, it is not too overcrowded and an overall peaceful experience if you are looking to relax. For those active guests, kayaks are available to use free of change and gives you a chance to paddle over to the neighboring island to explore the beach (it took us about 25 Minutes in a double kayak). As it is in quite a remote location, there are no options to venture out for meals (unless you have a car); therefore, your only option is dining in the property’s on-site restaurant. This wasn’t a problem tho as the food was fantastic and the service even better. The portion sizes are massive and the owner was always giving us little extras, such as fruit, soup and even a few local spirits. The menu was reasonably priced, with the majority of main meals costing between 7-9 USD and had a fairly wide selection of local and international options. They also have a selection of beer and spirits for those looking to have a few drinks (also a stocked mini bar in your room). Over all, we would give our stay a solid 10/10 as it more than exceeded our expectations, considering the price. Will definitely be back in the future. Mark & Sarah

A little hard to find. Get there during the day if possible. Google maps did not work well on the last mile so we got a bit lost.

Amazing location. Amazing staff. Amazing food. I would give it 12 out of 10 if it was possible. We had sashimi tuna and lobster which was to die for. The breakfast was great. Took a kayak across the lagoon and went to a deserted beach which was unbelievably beautiful. Thousands of fireflies at night all around us. Really magical. They also arranged an incredible yoga teacher for us. I wish we stayed longer.

We had pigeons on the roof that woke us up. Not very bad, but something worth mentioning. Also there is a construction site right besides the hotel. They did not start early or work into the night though, so it wasn’t a bad experience.

The remote location right at the lagoon was perfect for a relaxing day. The rooms were gorgeous and really designed with love, had a good size and all amenities one might need. With each room having its own veranda, we could very well relax during a strong rain.“ and enjoyed just relaxing and reading. The restaurant offered great service and very good food. The pool and everything about the hotel is clean and pretty. The massage we had was also very relaxing

We stayed at Lagoon gate Tangalle Resort for 2 nights and absolutely loved our stay. The staff are really kind and attentive and we felt totally relaxed and comfortable during our stay. The hotel is beautiful and doesn’t have too many rooms meaning it has an exclusive feel. The food is amazing and I recommend trying the Sri Lankan breakfast. We kayaked across the lagoon to the beach and pretty much had the beach to ourselves. Recommend staying here. We did have a driver but im sure you can use a tuk tuk to explore nearby if you’d like. Also recommend going to turtle watch nearby.

We had the best stay of our whole Sri Lanka trip. The hospitality made us feel right at home, the food was delicious and plentiful and the room was very big and clean. We tried to extend our stay but they were fully booked out! Kayaking on the lake was a bonus. Definitely stay here you won't regret it. Can't wait to come back one day!

Had booked 2 rooms for our family of 3 adults. Advised the evening before only one room would be available for our first night. Rooms not cleaned, drinking water and towels not replaced until repeated requests.

Beautiful location, very nice rooms with air conditioning and fans. Lovely swimming pool and use of kayaks on the lagoon. Delicious food at breakfast and dinner. Staff compensated us for issues which arose during our stay.

What an amazing stay at Lagoon Gate Resort. Everything was exceptional - the pool was amazing, the staff were lovely and welcoming and the room was incredible (very big!). We had a wonderful time staying here and were able to fully relax at the hotel. I think this might be the best place I've stayed at in my travels, atleast in this price range. Staf are great, facilities excellent, garden pretty, location is out of the way but there is easy access by bike or tuktuk, pool is gorgeous and food is amazing (so no real need to go anywhere else). I really can't fault the place. Was sad to leave and would gladly come back. Highly recommended!

The cleanest property I have ever stayed at. The family room was huge. Staff and food were lovely. Highly recommend taking the kayaks across the lagoon to the beach, it’s a stunning quiet beach.
