Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumA wonderful stay at the heritance tea factory. The location is stunning * and serene, the place historic, and the staff so kind and helpful. Food is also quite tasty and the room is very comfortable. Special thank you to staff Gawtham for his hospitality. *the hotel is located somewhat remotely, so you will always need Tuktuk or taxi to get to and from there

AustraliaThe road in was a bit of a punish as it's narrow and winding. Then again, it adds to it in a way.
Gorgeous setting and a wonderful vibe. The restaurant and food was beautiful. The twin room was a little poky but once you realise they were bound by the original factory design it is understood. The renovation and the vibe is amazing!

AustraliaWhat a fantastic stay! This hotel boasts so much history, soul, style and uniqueness. Although some may find the location a little isolated, that’s the beauty of this hotel at the highest elevation possible. Absolutely loved it and would return in a heartbeat. Had a Premium King Room which was so comfortable and the almost 360 degree views were unbeatable. Bathroom was excellent with great water pressure. The buffet food was top tier, had a great mix of tradition Sri Lankan food and Western food. The hotel was in immaculate condition, the grounds were so pretty and loved the history facts about the hotel on the walls wherever you went. Great facilities with a gym for exercise and spa. The staff were truly one of a kind, were the best we had experienced and made the stay such a memorable one! They were very welcoming, pleasant, and provided a 10/10 service from the Reception Staff to Yogesh who gave us an amazing tour of the Mini Tea Factory, to Pathmaraj and his immaculate gardens, and to the dining staff, Thivyaraj, Vijay, Kuveshan and many others!! Amazing hospitality. Could not recommend this hotel more, well worth it.

United KingdomMenus don’t include government taxes or service charges meaning it’s actually 34% more expensive than menu pricing which is a bit of a shock when coming to pay.
Stunning location and really friendly and helpful staff to make a really unique experience. Nothing was too much to ask partially of Mohan who helped us with our tuk tuk. Food was really good we ate off the menu in the evening and had a buffet breakfast. We really enjoyed the history being visible around the hotel, including the engine running in the evening.

United KingdomPaying for tea tasting local brew , visit of mini factory and tea picking experience should be free to clients staying there as part of the deal. Price for those services were a bit steep knowing that Pedro estate only charges 1000 SLR for tea picking or visit of the factory with a cup of tea ! Disappointed by dirty windows when paying for views in corner bedrooms. The 4 km road to the hotel from the main road.
Unique converted hotel in a secluded location . Excellent buffet breakfast and dinner . Pretty and well maintained gardens down the cottage and mini tea factory. Polite , attentive staff.

United KingdomDepending on the season, the room can get quite cold at night. Considering the contrast in temperature compared to other parts of Sri Lanka, it would have been nice to have some form of heating available in the room.
The location is spectacular . The small tea factory was excellent as well as the food

United KingdomWe could clearly hear the music of the residents in the room above us - though they were very accommodating when we asked them to turn down the volume.
The location was spectacular, perched mountainside in amongst tea plantations. The hotel has remained true to its heritage with so many original features remaining. The staff were friendly, professional and attentive. Great service. The food was fabulous.

United KingdomFor our group, we had booked three rooms (including their two biggest suites), as we were told the Junior quite could not accommodate a family of 4. It turns out, it could have easily slept 2 adults and 2 kids, but they do not allow bookings on this basis.
The whole experience of staying in what was once a traditional tea factory. The views are exquisite and the staff all very friendly.

IrelandThe hotel has heating in the lobby, bar and restaurant, but they didn't have it on when we were there in the middle of a huge storm. These areas were freezing. When we told them how unpleasantly cold it was they told us this happens every year at this time. I understand that heating is expensive, but find this a completely unacceptable response.
Heritance Tea Factory is a beautifully restored hotel in an old tea factory building. The wooden floors with their brass fittings are a highlight and the old copper-lined lifts with their smoothly sliding, green, metal concertina doors are a real treasure. There are spectacular views over the tea plantation, and we enjoyed these views from our room.

United Arab EmiratesThe strong wind at night caused a lot of noise, which made sleeping uncomfortable.
A beautifully restored British-era tea factory turned hotel, offering a unique and atmospheric stay at the top of Nuwara Eliya. We stayed in a suite with elegant British touches — cozy, charming, and full of character. The on-site mini tea factory was a highlight, and the guided tour of the tea-making process was fascinating. The restaurant served delicious, well-prepared food. A perfect blend of history, comfort, and local culture.

South AfricaThe room could have been a little more comfy, esp the beds. Take note : be ready for a long drive to the hotel via narrow and winding roads for over 10km.
Breakfast was great. And the little factory tour as done by Yogesh was very informative. And of course, the spiced tea was amazing.

United KingdomRemote location- no nearby restaurants, meaning you have to eat in hotel for every meal which is pricey. Able to arrange extra activities but again chargeable which are quite expensive. Tea tasting activity - you try 4 teas, 2 of which are already in the room tea station for free
Situated in old tea factory- interesting and charming lobby. Very comfortable bed. Enjoyed the tea picking and tasting. Do not need more than 2 night stay.

India1. Facilities are quite less and not value for money. Even a working plug point was hard to find. The furniture is quite dated 2. No facilities like gym or swimming pool and so there is nothing to do virtually. 3. The place is secluded and while it is scenic, the road takes forever.
1. The tea made here in the tea factory is available for sale in the hotel and it’s a must buy! I am still relishing the taste of it. It’s utterly fabulous 2. This is an old tea factory and it’s converted to a hotel. It’s quite the experience to see the old machines being yet maintained as it is. 3. The tea factory tour is superb. 4. The general hotel decor and the food they serve is very good

United StatesThis hotel was further away from things than I expected. Quieter than I expected. Because of this it felt over priced. Either way, still lovely!
Norbert was the best waiter I have, maybe, ever experienced! He remembered what I ordered, how I like my drinks, and food. He gave recommendations on how to eat the food too. Wow! The room was comfortable and big. The history was lovely.
