Very nice Staff and they are very helpful Good value for the money

Not very clean The location is a bit far if you don’t have a bike or tuktuk

The house is close to the Polwathumodara Railway station (10min walk), to Mirissa beach and Weligama beach (5min tuktuk ride or bus). It’s situated in a quiet area, so you won't be disturbed by parties like in the city-centers. The room is on the ground floor, clean and spacious, the bed is very large and comfortable, with clean sheets. Plugs by the bed (2 types : round and rectangular). Not USB. There is a hanger for your clothes as well as a small table. Big fan working well. Windows with bars and a thin curtain so you can let them open at night to get some fresh air. The private bathroom is spacious as well, with new equipments and very clean. Water is cold, but after a day of walking around or tanning at the beach and sweating, you'll truly enjoy that cold shower ! Bath towel provided. Access to communal spaces : a large sheltered terrace with two tables where you'll take your breakfast and maybe dinner. Breakfast was delicious and very generous. They adapt if you're a vegetarian. I tried the dinner as well and it was amazing, very tasty, also very generous. Everything is homemade, traditional sri-lankan food, and she truly is a great cook ! The family was adorable, available and always ready to help and provide advices and tips. They can also arrange renting bikes or organizing excursions with discount prices. The pressure from the shower-head is a bit low, so when you have very thick and long hair like me (dreadlocks), it can be a little complicated and long to wash them. But this is a detail. Aside that, everything was PERFECT. Go for it.

It was a nice, comfortable, quiet, and clean place with a great location. The staff were friendly, kind, and helpful. I had a private room with air conditioning. The breakfast was good. There was an en-suite bathroom with hot water, and they also provided a towel and soap. The bed had clean sheets. I arrived early in the morning and was warmly welcomed. The location of the hostel is very convenient — it's right by the main road and close to the bus station, which is a big plus.

The only negative point for me was the lack of a mosquito net for the bed, so travelers should definitely bring insect spray with them.

WONDERFUL!!! I’ve been traveling around Asia for 8 months, and this guesthouse is definitely in my top 3. The owners are awesome, super attentive to everything, and they make sure you have everything you need. You can join their tours at local prices and eat fish they cook themselves. It’s a place that really gave me peace and calm. The free breakfast in the morning is special!!! I’ll definitely be back!!! You guys are amazing! Thanks so much!!

A perfect stay! The family who welcomed us is absolutely lovely and very caring. We immediately felt at home. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Moreover, the location is ideal for exploring the region. A place we highly recommend and where we would gladly return!

The hosts were beyond lovely! They greeted us very warmly and were helpful with any and all requests we had. They helped us organize a scooter that we rented for the week. The best part was the breakfast they made for the 2 days we stayed there. The breakfast was on the top of the list of great meals we’ve enjoyed this far along our travels!

Absolutely the kindest, most warm-hearted, and humble host I've ever met! Our stay at Dillenia Canopy was truly wonderful. We were greeted with hot tea and biscuits, which were such a thoughtful touch after a long day of travel. The host even went out of his way to take my friend on his bike to pick up dinner from a nearby local restaurant—such a sweet gesture! The next morning, we were treated to a healthy breakfast with fresh fruit. He even plucked oranges from his backyard for us, since we were so excited to try fruit straight from the tree. Make sure to ask him for lunch for a lovely Sri Lankan home made meal for a very reasonable price. The room was cozy and comfortable, with a clean bathroom, and a private, peaceful sit-out area. It's a bit on the outskirts of Mirissa, so it's quiet and tranquil—perfect for relaxing. Plus, it's only about 90 meters from the Henwala junction bus stop, making it easy to travel to either side of the coast. He was also incredibly accommodating, letting us extend our checkout time until noon, which was much appreciated. All in all, if I ever return to Mirissa, Dillenia Canopy will be my go-to spot, and I’ll happily recommend it to everyone!

Hosts were very caring and served me with tasty homemade foods . And guided me for public transportation Rooms are clean and would definitely recommend for others. It's a good deal for reasonable price.

Great value accommodation with the sweetest host family! The room was spacious and the fan is powerful so it's cool enough to sleep at night. The included breakfast is very filling and the coconut pancakes were delicious. The WiFi was strong enough to stream videos which was fantastic. The location is just by a bus stop so very easy to get to, but far enough back from the main road that it is quiet. It's about 20-25 minute walk into Mirissa and to the beach that way, or just 10 minutes in the other direction to the end of Weligama beach. There are washing lines outside so best to ask to dry swimming clothes on there (I think the room was a little damp as clothes didn't dry inside) The perfect place to stay if you're wanting some peace away from the busy main strip of Mirissa!

The mattress is quite thin so I didn't find the bed super comfortable but if you like a firm bed then it will be perfect for you!

The traditional Sri-Lanka breakfast is a nice detail from the lovely couple who run the home stay.

The family staff were really nice and pleasant. They answered all our questions and helped us with bus information and.local guidance.n

The rooms are still under construction and not ready to be called a homestay yet. We were provided with a room that didn't without paint, unfinished walls. The toilet commode was shaking as soon as we sat.on it. The ceilings had holes left open for wiring. It just had basic stuff but totally uncomfortable. We requested for a room next to it which had tiles on the floor and a "better" room. The toilet commode was shaky here as well but that's the only choice we had in that situation. The outside area was full of flies that didn't let us eat out breakfast peacefully. Breakfast was decent. We asked them for eggs and they happily provided that.We changed our reservation from three days to two days. The family (husband and wife) were really nice and polite. In my opinion this place will be a decent place once the construction is completed (both inside and outside facilities) but we really felt at this point, this place is not worthy of staying as a homestay.
