How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The property clearly needs some upkeep and renovation, the buildings are showing their age, same thing for the rooms. For a resort that size, having a dedicated kids or games room would be a real plus.

Verified reviewHuge bed, easily slept 3 of us in. Good selection for breakfast. Beautiful beach, enjoyed watching the fishmen bring in their fish. Lovely pool.
Evening food was ok but not amazing. They would only set up one extra bed so for a family of 4 we had to have 1 child in our bed, luckily it was a big bed but it would have been better to have two extra beds.

Verified reviewLocation is fantastic, it was also nice not to have locals selling their wares whilst you were on the beach. Breakfast was a great array of interesting continental and local cuisine, great to have fresh egg hoppers every morning. The locale was also very good for trying out local restaurants for lunch and or dinner. The staff were all very helpful with any requests. The beds in the rooms were so comfortable. Lovely pool, I can recommend the Beach Chalet Room 315, although the best are 318 I think a little closer to the sea. The Pigeon Island snorkel tour was fun too
I was personally very disappointed we went to the hotel for 5 nights arriving late for one and leaving super early after last night, so 4 whole days. I received a text hours before arriving that one of our rooms had a technical issue, and so my grown up 2 children did not get their Twin Deluxe Beach Chalet I booked in advance, instead a twin higher room the opposite end of the hotel, we were told premium, but just not the same as booked, finally they did get last 3 nights but under 2 days next to me in a double bed, but sort of lost the joy of being side by side, which was a shame. My room also had a bathroom infestation of ants each day, no idea why (their room luckily did not), but the staff did come in each day and sweep them away. We were given a buffet dinner one evening, my daughter was not well so it was just two of us, better than nothing I suppose.

Service not in line with expectations, rooms don’t get cleaned only after asking at 1430, while cleaning request was there already. Main course served without rice or anything else , because they don’t serve rice . No rice in Sri Lanka????? I was advised to pick something else as they refused to make rice. Unbelievable Breakfast takeaway for $17 is a rip off. Cinnamon you know how to do this in Yala. We had dark green uneatable bananas included So if you want to play top of the league make sure things add up. Lot to improve

Verified reviewLocation was brilliant pool and beach right by each other. Also a short walk along the beach to a number of different restaurants and bars. The staff were super friendly and helpful, rooms clean and well maintained and the air con absolutely perfect.
I think there could have been more choice of food for European children - but they definitely didn't go hungry. And I would suggest that they invest in a trained bird of prey to keep the crows away!
