Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IraqThe vibes and the view , you wouldn't believe that such a nice hotel exists in the 4th floor of a building (yes , not a complete building) ,but once you go inside you will like the place very much , not many amenities as expected from a guest house like, (but better than leaving the room key in a box style with not one around) the staff are friendly and the view is just amazing of the gamayza street

United StatesCan't think of one!
The hotel is very clean with great ammenities and nice balcony that overlooks a lively street and a peek at the waters on the right. There is so much to do on our street alone with endless restaurants, cafes and bars. They even offered a full snack and beverage bar daily and free breakfast. We couldn't take advantage as we have booked a private tours for the 3 days that included breakfast. The owner was very accommodating and to have breakfast prepared for us before their normal breakfast time! As mentioned, we booked a private customized tour to go to the places that we've wanted to visit in Lebanon with the recommendation of the hotel owner. We loved the tour and our guide, Yaya. He was more than accommodating and even took us to more places than we agreed upon and took us to his favorite local spots. Overall, our visit was amazing and the hospitality of the Lebanese was wonderful. We would definitely recommend to our friends ad family.

LebanonI just wish there was a hairdryer in the rooms. I am pretty sure had we demanded one, the staff would have provided though!
The place is amazingly well maintained specially given how bad the neighborhood was hit during the port's blast few yearss ago. The staff are amazingly polite, kind and welcoming. We also appreciated their discretion in a country where everyone tends to ask everyone "Where do you come from?" The neighborhood is a partying one so make sure you know what you're doing because the hotel cannot be held responsible for the nightlife.

LebanonThere is nothing we did not like at this property!
This property is a Gem, like the name implies! It was a great pleasure staying at that beautiful boutique hotel for over 2 weeks. This property offers all amenities for superior comfort with every detail in a very clean setting. Management and staff tended carefully to every request and provided us assistance for what we needed from outside the hotel. They were eager to help and at all times. The site is a gem by itself. It is located in a historic neighborhood that has been largely preserved with its period architecture and urban design. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and shops around that make the experience even more pleasurable. We would for sure stay at The Gem again every time we go back to Beirut/Lebanon for visits.

PakistanVery good hotel, slightly on pricier side also checkouts were flexible they did give extra time. Just if they introduce a minibar and put dental/vanity kits in the bathroom more helpful.

LebanonI loved the beautiful location in vibrant, energetic Beirut, offering a perfect blend of authentic local ambiance and modern style. The property was very comfortable and tidy, with spacious rooms and exceptional service. The generous owner made sure we felt at home, and the complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits available at all times were a thoughtful touch. The view of the lively Gemmayze streets was incredible, and the property’s central location made it easy to explore nearby restaurants and pubs.

GermanyThe boutique hotel is located on the fourth floor and the elevator wasn’t always working. Upon arrival the receptionist kindly helped us with the luggage and we were ok with climbing the stairs occasionally. anyway a point to note in terms of accessibility.
The whole place is very tasteful and new. Location was great and staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very simple but very very nice. I would come again here in a heartbeat.

United StatesNot necessarily negative but worthy of noting: You will have to go up a few steps before taking the elevator to the hotel floor. It might be nice to have a bigger sign outside the entrance as it get can confusing when you first arrive. Definitely no parking available around the hotel, sometimes even a challenge for taxi/uber.
Staff very kind, friendly, polite and accommodating. The rooms were very clean, and offered change of linen and towels on daily basis. Wifi was good. AC worked great except when there is electricity outages but those are all around Beirut and nothing in hotel’s capacity. It is on a busy street with lots of spots for coffee, meals and drinks. Which also means it can get loud at nights, specially on weekends. As others noted, not much insulation with the windows.
