Vientiane Ruby Hotel is well known in Vientiane, and I can see why. It is right in the center, so the location is very convenient. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable, and the price is very affordable.

The staff were very nice and friendly, always happy to help. The breakfast was delicious, and the swimming pool was clean and relaxing. They also have fun extras like snooker and a chill atmosphere that makes you feel at home.

Everyone was so kind, and I really appreciated the service. Special thanks to Mr. Tom and On – both were not only helpful but also very charming and professional.

Easy walking distance to both night markets, Mekong riverwalk, bars, restaurants, etc ROOM +Clean and comfortable +Window lets in light. +Strong A/C BATHROOM +Larger than most and clean. STAFF/LOBBY +Friendly, professional KITCHEN/MEALS +Breakfast: nice buffet. Eggs (made to order), rice, vegetables, fruits, potatoes, bread and jam, various animal carcasses. +Two 250 ML bottles of water on arrival. OTHER +Accepts credit cards with 4% fee +Baggage storage +Laundry service 30K per kilo. Next day +Nice pool. 15 meters? Just big enough to swim laps.

ROOM -Small. About 1 meter of space on one side of the bed and half a meter of space at the end of the bed BATHROOM +Warm water, not hot KITCHEN/MEALS -no water refill -only provided water bottles on arrival WIFI -mostly fine, but did cut in and out

Beautiful hostel with a great atmosphere and truly dedicated staff. Everything ran smoothly during my stay and I have absolutely no complaints.

The breakfast, albeit small in variety, is of rather high quality, changes its menu daily and especially underlines culinary skills of the chef and fresh produce each day such as several types of fruit and sweet desserts. It is greatly delectable.

What's obviously lacking is the obligatory seasoning condiments at the table such as fine salt and pepper.

Good location, big room. Good value for price.

The only disadvantage - internet. It was very unstable and slow.

Asked for a taxi from airport to pick me up; confirmed a price and time, no one came to airport, than got to the room and the bedding was dirty with stains, than to think I will give it another go to get taxi and car didn’t turn on. Not a great impression

Great location, private room set back from main social areas, nice pool to hang out in

Room was very sparse, not cozy;

Location is the only good point of this hotel.

The smell in the room is very bad. The bathroom is dirty. Breakfast is also very bad.

Location is perfect, very close to the night market. Rooms were a nice size and clean. Pool was great to have on the hot days.

Pool wasn’t clean for the first few days we were there and no lounging space around the pool. Also a hostel, common spaces are busy.

Convenient, although a bit old

where to begin… paid for a double room, went to check in at 10pm, was told there was only twin room available even though I had already paid for a double room. The lady at the desk said there would be a room ready for us tomorrow morning that was a double so we accepted that as we were tired from travelling. The next morning we asked when we’d be able to get our new room, she told us we need to check out at 11 of our current room and check back in at 2pm even though she said our room would be ready in the morning. This meant all of our day plans were interrupted because of having to check in and check out when we shouldn’t have had to change rooms anyway. She then told me I can leave my bags in the dirty double room whilst I wait for it to be cleaned or I can leave them in the corridor? Like that’s a safe option considering the hotel is full of very strange people. The staff were soooooo rude throughout, the European volunteer was just as bad. He even said “everyone has a problem here” which shows a lot about the hotel. Anyway, once we got our double room the shower wouldn’t drain meaning the room was flooded for the remaining two nights of our stay. The breakfast wasn’t the best and the toaster didn’t work. There was food all over the floor and tables. Long story short, definitely the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in with the most rude, unhelpful, uncaring staff I’ve ever came across! Would never return even if I was paid too! Oh and also this is the sister hotel of Nanas backpacker hostel in Vang Viang which is responsible for 6 deaths, If that alone isn’t a reason to never come here then I don’t know what it is! Please please please book ANYWHERE else xxx
