How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIn a quieter part of Vang Vieng, helpful staff to sort trips and a good breakfast. The rooms were big and the bed was comfortable. We could help ourselves to extra water, toilet paper and towels.
The towels were not very clean.

Verified reviewThe host was very helpful, breakfast was okay
The name was deceiving, this is definitely NOT a resort, it is a very basic guest house, the "pool" is a 6'x6' waterhole, no facilities to speak of and the rooms are very very basic, with barely any furniture or toiletries. The bathroom was also very basic, no separate shower. The next day I went to Luang Prabang and stayed in the Dream Hotel 1985, exactly the same price as this hotel but what a huge difference, night and day, the Dream Hotel is indeed a dream, facilities, rooms, pool, staff, etc. highly recommend it.

Verified reviewStaff are incredibly accommodating. Room is good value for money. Pool is awesome for a wee night swim :))
Hard to find good food in the area, however we ended up finding a cute wee Chinese place on a corner of the road before going into Main Street.

Verified reviewPrice was fair for the room, owner helped with organising bus transfer
Do not book for the swimming pool, it is like a small pond and looked completely unusable. Breakfast was not very good, only the eggs and fruit were ok. It is not the most central location, but it was very quiet at night for this reason. The room was also not cleaned once during our stay which was unsatisfactory

Verified reviewPretty clean, decent space. Bed relatively comfortable. Room was kept cool by aircon. Nice view from certain angles/the small balcony.
-An okay stay but definitely not a 9-10 star place, from reading reviews sounds like people have been hassled a bit to give these reviews. -Required cash payment - lucky I found this on previous reviews so was prepared! -No front desk, awkward trying to check in, was just shown to my room by a lady who was pleasant but didn’t speak so I didn’t quite know what was going on. Manager can be contacted by WhatsApp. -Not the best location, not too far from the main areas but there’s heaps of hotels in better locations. -Backs on to private property that have heaps of chickens and roosters. Roosters were going off at 1am. -Poor soundproofing, could hear a lot of what was going on in the hallways and other rooms. -Gaps in wooden door, noticed was filled with toilet paper ?from previous visitors -Terrible shower -Honestly more like a good hostel with private rooms rather than hotel.

Hotel grounds look like building site. No communication when messaged through Booking.com pre arrival. Pool not clean and still being built as you swam in it! Manager not very friendly or helpful. A lot of money for so called deluxe room that was not cleaned throughout our visit. No water replenished on daily basis.

Verified reviewBen was very helpful, the perfect host. He acted as a travel agent, sorting out trips and returning to the train station. Good sized room, location not in the centre but an easy 5 to 10 min stroll in. We liked the fact Ben only took over the hotel less two years ago and is slowly and considerately making improvements. The bed was reasonably comfortable and not too hard. Tea and coffee are available all day. Breakfast included plenty of fresh fruit, and you could order egg dishes from the menu. We had pancakes. The area where breakfast was served was very socialable, and it was nice to chat to other travellers.
The shower was awful, the water flow very poor and temperature not consistent. We had to wait for the shower to have warm water too. The air con directly opposite one on the beds meant the temperature was difficult to control. Noise from dogs and cockrals starting at 3.30ish was not the fault of the hotel but meant we didn't get much sleep. It would be advisable to have better fitted windows to drown out the noise.

Verified reviewBreakfast was great with a choice of omelette, pancakes, spring rolls, scrambled or fried eggs. There was also beautifully presented fresh fruit plates. White bread for toasting plus jam. Freshly squeezed mango juice and tea or coffee. Rooms were clean, neat and spacious. Hot showers. Blackout curtains. Effective air conditioning. Firm but comfy beds. Ben the owner is great at organising activities and transport pickups with a minimum of notice.
Be aware there is some minor building works happening at the moment on the property but these were not an inconvenience and will enhance the look of the property in the future.
