Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBuilding work around the pool started at 7am which you could hear and would wake you up. Pool is okay but not very clean. Apparently the 8 bed dorm rooms have been refurbished so the negatives are based on the 6 bed dorm room: - beds were very soft and a few of us all got bad back ache - the bathrooms in the dorm rooms weren’t great. Not clean, shower didn’t train away, hard to lock the door, cracks in the sink, not always warm water
Really good location - 5minute walk to the night market and old town. Nice social atmosphere without it being a party hostel. Good restaurant that did simple food (but does stop serving at 4pm). AC in the rooms! Staff were very friendly and helpful

United KingdomA bathroom per room could use cleaning a bit more often. Also, the room space was too small for that many people. Everybody had their bags and smelly shoes inside, as the rack outside room A was exposed to the elements. So the room was uncomfortably smelly and chaotic. Although not expensive, the hostel was a bit pricey for the town and what it was offering. Basics such as towels had to be rented, they're waiting for you on the bed in most hostels. Also, I booked this hostel twice in order to leave my big bag there during a short trip to the north in between bookings, but I was advised not to cause it wasn't safe. A girl who had left her bag there recently couldn't find it once she was back. So I cancelled the second booking and booked another hostel, that'd be cheaper but offer more comfort.
The cafe and swimming-pool area were wonderful -really exotic! All staff was helpful and friendly. Loved the cats there and the garden and tiled buildings were beautiful. Beds were spacious and comfy and the rack, the little locker for valuables and the personal fan very handy. The bathroom was spacious too.I loved the extra showers by the pool. The WiFi was good also for working. Only minor issues that didn't really interfere. Also, lots of tours and amenities offered at the reception - tours, buses, currency exchange etc. Loved loading money to the waterproof bracelet/room key and paying with ease. Great idea!

United KingdomWe only had a couple issues, the drain blocked in the bathroom, so had to get that fixed. But that only a small problem, the other thing being they tried to over charge me for laundry, which has happened to lots of people there. One person even got charged an extra $30 for their stay without realising. When I checked out they said I didn’t have money on my wrist band, but I hadn’t spent anything, so knew there was still money on it. So had to argue a bit to get that back. Just be extra vigilant when handing money over.
The rooms were up to date and modern. And the facilities were good. It’s a great hostel in terms of location, facilities and general vibes.

CanadaA lot. See above
Staff were great. Fresh bed linen. I booked a bottom bed and under my bed as well as all other bottom bunk beds the floor was filthy with huge balls of dirt. The floor in my 3 day stay was not washed even after I requested it. POOR HOUSEKEEPING. At $22.00 USD per night I resented not being able to have a lounge chair beside the pool without shade. Backpacks from other hostels were using the pool for free. If some did pay I resented them staying at cheap hostels and using the pool. I moved to Sabia Sabia which was fantastic.

UkraineMattresses are horrible! It’s not even a mattress, just a huge sponge, a memory foam. My back was hurting after this. It’s quite big and social hostel, most people here are in their 20s. Very lively in the evening. If you’re looking for rest and peace, maybe it’s not the right place. Bathroom drain was always clogged, I stayed 14 nights in this hostel, it was never properly cleaned.
Nice room, balcony, pool, lockers, curtains. Location is good. Internet was good. Good hostel for a few nights.

United KingdomThere are no lockers in the bigger dorms so people’s belongings were all over the floor. There is space outside the dorms where lockers could be placed
The pool area is really nice. Social but quiet hostel in the centre of town.

United KingdomOne bathroom attached to each bedroom. I'm not a particular fan of that system, although there were further loos and showers at the end of the pool area, fortunately. There wasn't any secure storage space for your things (aside from one tiny bedside cupboard) but I guess that serves the purpose for any spare devices, etc. it's about a 15/20 min walk to Night Market/Old Quarter.
Almost as close as a hostel gets to a hotel (if not quite in the same league as Atlas Central, Pai - see my earlier review). Lovely open garden area with beautiful pool and longer. Good sized beds separated by solid walls. The most fabulously comfortable memory-foam mattress. A good pillow and nice light quilt. Cotton bedding. Decent light, electrical socket, etc. Bed cubicles were big enough to accommodate most belongings, and there was a useful shelf provided. Polite, infinitely patient, front desk staff. There are probably guesthouses/hostels in the older quarter that are more charming or characteristic of the town, but if you want largely well/maintained modern facilities/comfort at a budget price, this will probably suit you.

IrelandThe shower didn’t drain and the bathroom flooded and they didn’t seem to care. The ladder to the top bunk was quite hard to get up/down. The door to the dorm was really hard to close and didn’t lock. No free breakfast and you can’t pay with cash at the bar, you need to put money on a wristband.
Loved the pool, nice location, can book activities etc at the front desk, lots of other young travellers staying there, and there was an adorable pregnant cat outside our dorm 🩷

PortugalMy room didn’t have a curtain on the balcony window, so everyone outside could see inside the room. Also, there was only one bathroom in the room. There were other bathrooms available outside, but it would be convenient if they were a bit closer to the room.
The pool and bar area are really nice, as well as the garden. There are cheap food options available, and you can get your food and drinks by the pool. There are different wifi options available, so it works probably. T

AustriaI got a bit apprehensive about all the ponds and water decorations. This attracts dengue flies and I couldn’t find a place really to sit that wasn’t right next to water. Very pretty but maybe not the best. Also the cleanliness could be a bit improved.

BelgiumNot a fan of the one shower one toilet per room but that wasn’t too much of a problem. They do have more toilets and showers by the pool.
I stayed 5 nights here and really enjoyed it. The guys at the reception are so nice, helpful and patient!! Very happy with their service, thanks! I thought the 8-bed female dorm was really comfortable. You get heaps of space by the bed and storage for your bags (2 lockers per bed). The balcony was great too. The vibe during the day is really chill, the pool is awesome! It’s not a party hostel although it did get a little loud some nights. I guess it all depends on the groups of guests staying there. Most nights were very quiet from 10pm 👌 Also, the wifi was good and the location ideal (supermarket, UXO museum and nice wee cafe 2 minutes away). I would definitely stay here again.

Czech RepublicThe door lock didn´t work very well and staff had to manually open the door to the room few times. There are no lockers in the room for your backpack so the room between beds is just full of things. The wifi is not working that good. The location is okay - you can walk everywhere but its still bit far to the main road with markets etc.
Nice hostel with comfortable beds and clean cold swimming pool and hot showers. There is also bar/restaurant in the hostel.
