Good bed, nice view from the corridor for mountains

First we received a room that looked like from a horror movie (much lower standard then on the pictures). After doing claim we were told it was by mistake and we received correct one...

Excellent breakfast, very nutritious, with fresh fruits and veggies. Good omelet, and they give real Lao coffee, it’s not shitty instant nescaffe; appreciate it! The restaurant has a fantastic mountain view. The staff is great, very helpful and friendly. The lifts are modern and good. The location is perfect. The price is +/- fair.

Initially, I was provided with an awful room. It was very humid, there was mold. I hate mold, it’s very dangerous for our health, you can get hard problems with your lungs! Clear message: mold is unacceptable!! You must remove it from all rooms. I was given another better room; it was good, but a bit humid too. Also, I should point out that there’s no view from economy rooms at all, and the windows are super dirty. The pool in the morning is super dirty(

Very disappointed by this hotel, I just don't understand the reviews so good for it. The pics are really good compare to the reality, the decoration was oldish, the bed very uncomfortable and lot of humidity, I could not even open my window. And be careful because most of the rooms don't have views as on the pics, it just give on the wall on the hotel beside. They have ro do a big effort for the cleaning, and don't be fool, the pool is not nice.

The staff was nice and helping with any query we had. When the AC broke down in the night, a staff came to check, but could not fix it, then we got another room, since we were with a baby and no AC would have been quite a short night. The hotel is also located very centrally in Vang Vieng and almost any bar, restaurant or shop can be done on foot since it is like 200m max

Honestly, I cannot relate to the high ranking after I have seen other hotels in Laos for a similar price. We came from the north and stayed in Luang Prabang directly before for almost the same price (0,2$ per person and night difference). The hotel itself is quite aged. You can see it at any part. The bathroom was, according to my standards, a sub-standard bathroom. Everything looked quite old, worn off and the mirror had rust spots (in the middle not on the edges). The shower had dark corner spots and the heater took very long to get going Towels were quite old and the bedsheets old too. I was in the room when the staff cleaned it and honestly, the brown and dark spots on the pillows and the blanket were countless. I didn't feel comfortable afterwards and avoided sleeping blank on it. For our kid we brought our own bed, so that was ok. It is cheap, but honestly, some money should be invested in bedsheets, towels and mattresses from time to time. We felt more like in a hostel but with a private room and bathroom.

    Property response:

Dear Felix, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate both the kind words and the constructive criticism, as they help us improve our service and better understand our guests' expectations. We’re happy to hear that you found our staff friendly and helpful. Providing warm, attentive service is something we care deeply about, and we’re glad this was reflected during your stay. We were also pleased to assist you quickly with a new room when the air conditioner in your original room malfunctioned, especially as you were traveling with a baby. We always do our best to ensure the comfort and safety of our guests. That said, we’d like to clarify a few points raised in your review: 1. Room Type & Expectations You originally booked our most basic room type — the budget room — which is clearly described and shown in photos at the time of booking. However, upon arrival, we upgraded you free of charge to a larger deluxe room, even though that was not part of your reservation. We did this with good intentions, hoping to provide a more comfortable experience. We’re sorry to hear that this was still not enough to meet your expectations. If a higher standard is important to a guest, we always recommend booking a higher-tier room from the beginning. For those seeking a luxury experience, hotels like Amari may be more suitable — but naturally, at a much higher price point. 2. Room Security You mentioned concern about the door lock. While it may appear basic, it is a standard locking system commonly used in Laos, and all our rooms are equipped with functioning locks. In addition, we have security cameras throughout the property for added safety. We also recommend guests secure valuables, as is good practice anywhere. If you had any concerns during your stay, our team would have been happy to assist further if notified. 3. Cleanliness & Linen We’re truly sorry if the linens or room conditions did not meet your expectations. We follow a regular cleaning schedule, and we are always willing to replace any items immediately upon request. If the blankets or towels appeared worn, we would have gladly provided fresh ones had we been made aware. Cleanliness is something we take seriously, and we’re addressing your comments directly with our housekeeping team. 4. Our High Ranking You mentioned not understanding our high ranking. While we respect your opinion, we would like to clarify that our rating is not based on price alone. It reflects the overall guest experience — including service, support, convenience, location, and included amenities such as breakfast. Many of our guests choose to stay with us not just because of the price, but because they appreciate the genuine service, clean private rooms, and overall value we offer. While price is important, we believe it’s just one part of what makes a good stay. 5. Hotel vs. Hostel Comparison We’d also like to address the comparison to a hostel. Hostels typically provide shared dorm rooms and shared bathrooms. In contrast, all our rooms are private, with private bathrooms and daily breakfast included, even at budget rates. These are key differences that define hotel-level service. If you found a hostel offering private rooms with full service and breakfast for the same price — that is great value — but it's not the standard in most areas, especially with full support and central location like ours. We feel this comparison is not fully fair given the differences in service level. 6. Service Pricing (Tickets & Transfers) You mentioned the cost of services like train tickets and transfers. It's important to note that when booking online, you pay for the ticket only, and must arrange everything else yourself — including transportation, timing, and logistics. This can be inconvenient, especially in unfamiliar places. When booking through us, the price includes not just the ticket, but also hotel pickup and full assistance, making the process smooth and stress-free. Comparing this to a self-managed booking isn’t really fair — they are completely different experiences. Regarding your transfer example: you mentioned taking a tuk-tuk for 30,000 kip per person, while our private car is 80,000 kip per group, not per person. It’s a completely different service in terms of privacy, convenience, and comfort. We understand that every traveler has different needs and standards. Some prefer to organize everything themselves, while others value convenience, reliability, and service. We always strive to offer a fair price for the level of service we provide — and we’re proud that many of our guests recognize that. Thank you again for your feedback. We sincerely wish you and your family all the best in your future travels and hope that your experience in Laos was overall enjoyable. Warm regards, Sisavang Vang Vieng Hotel

A fantastic little hotel with everything you need in a central location. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the reception staff are very friendly and super helpful in organising tours/transport etc. They also have laundry service and motorbikes for rent. Such good value for the cost. Recommend!

Great stay! Room was comfy with AC and a private bathroom. I got a free upgrade from a twin to a double, which was a nice surprise. The location was perfect, and there’s a pool that looked great, even though I didn’t get the chance to use it. Hannah at the reception was super sweet, kind and always helpful. I’d definitely stay here again.

Very nice stay at Sisavang, right in the city center. Close to 711, Sakura bar, Irish bar but far enough to be quiet, only 3 minutes to go to Night market. The Staff were friendly and accommodating. We contacted with them via WhatsApp to book train from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng because it's cheaper than my hotel in LPB and including pick-up to hotel. They also helped me to book a full-day tour and paragliding which is good experienced to try. First we only plan to stay 2 nights then we extanded 3 more. I took the sleeping train to Thailand with them is much more cheaper than booking on 12go and the lady always text me to make sure if everything okay. The price is very cheap for all what they serve. The view from restaurant is great and breakfast is delicious. They also have swimming pool and pool table too.
