Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandIt’s a bit far out of the town but it suited us after spending two nights in Nong Khiaw already we wanted to relax here. It’s back a bit from the road a bit so a bit of a walk down to it across a bamboo bridge
Lovely located on the river, every room has a table and chairs outside and sun loungers. It was lovely to relax here and take in the amazing views and watch the world go by. Got our room early also which was great

United KingdomThe rooms are tired. They need a serious spruce.. ours was clean and comfortable, but the wallpaper was badly torn, the bathroom door didn't close and there was a dangerously loose floorboard! Quite disconcerting considering it's floating on water!
Location, breakfast and the staff. It's 90% of the way to being pure paradise, and the price point is very good.

CanadaThe rooms are not heated, so in bad weather you can end up freezing! We arrived on a very cold and rainy day. Each of us dreamed of warming up our bodies in the hotel, but this did not happen because the room was cold and the bedding was thin. On the following day the weather changed completely and we were enjoying the place. I’d only recommend the accommodation if it is pleasantly warm. The rooms should be better equipped in terms of furniture. There was nowhere to put clothes and we had to put our things on the floor.
Staying in a floating hotel was a really neat experience for us. Our rooms were simple but each had a private bathroom. It was really cool to just step over a doorstep and jump straight into the warm river for a swim. The breakfast was pretty decent. Everyone was able to choose something from the menu. Although the place is on the outskirts of the town, it was a few minutes’ walk to the centre. On the other hand, the bus station was very close.

BelgiumJust know that every time a boat passes, the deck shakes a little, there is some mold in the room (inevitable) and it seems that all the water from shower, sink and toilet is directly going into the river (but i am not sure)...
Peaceful and beautiful view.

United KingdomCould be even nicer with a bit of sprucing up - especially the steps down to it!
It’s a little rough around the edges but for the price and, more importantly, the location, it’s great. Lovely people and breakfasts too.

SpainWe only spent one night here, in mid-January, and the rooms were freezing cold at night, so be prepared. And if you have heavy bags, be warned that the rickety staircases leading down to the rooms are a bit of a challenge!
This place is amazing and certainly unique. Perhaps not the most comfortable lodging you can find in Nong Kiaw, but surely the most memorable.

The location makes this place as rooms are rather basic and are a little run down. Staff were super friendly and helpful and breakfast pancakes were delicious.

United KingdomWe were not prepared for how cold it could get at night! The place is showing its age but soon to be replaced.
Although the River Ou Guesthouse is showing its age (new accommodation is under construction and will be completed by about June 2025) it is a fabulous place to stay and worth 'suffering' any discomforts. Having breakfast or a drink on the pontoon is amazing as the whole thing rocks gently as mainly local river traffic passes by. The view from the rooms or the pontoon area is stunning. River Ou is a little way out of town (this helps with the tranquility) but only a 10 mins walk - there is also an excellent restaurant near by, Gustosos which we visited twice. The guesthouse is close to the bus station and easy to walk to.

LithuaniaThe people are very kind and nice here, but a little lacking in the proffesionalism department here, as I had to leave at a certain time and they acknowledged me about the breakfast being made in time, but then proceeded to not serve me on time, which lead to me skipping the meal and eventually still rushing to the bus station. Nevertheless, the place was nice, near the water, so a quick dip is possible. Although, you can hear every step of the neighbours across the other side of the wall.

United KingdomThe lock on our room didn’t work, but we felt very tucked away and safe and we weren't too worried.
This place was an amazing location, right on the river. We were able to swim, and had incredible views of the mountains too. It was walking distance to the main town, but also had restaurants closer by which were great. The rooms was big and comfortable, and we slept really well. The breakfast was also delicious (and so nice to sit on the river each morning for breakfast!) We would definitely stay again.

EstoniaThe rooms are abit outdated but clean.
It's one of the only places where you can go to swim in the river strait from the room, in other places you have to walk down a clif. The room gets hot durring the day but cools down quickly when the sun goes down. The breakfast was very nice as well. We wanted to do a river cruise and see other places and rather then book a tour we asked the host for a boat in the morning and he organized a private boat for the whole day for us for a reasonable prize and in half an hour we were on the river.

United KingdomIt feels like it hasn't been touched since built years ago. Needs refurbishment. An extra table inside at least would be handy so don't have to put clothes on the floor. There was another floating house being built next to it. But I stayed due to the setting, which was beautiful. So I would stay again due to this. Also cash only, so make sure you bring enough. Those yellow bicycles are impossible to cycle on too. The whole place needs TLC
Beautiful setting. Floating on the water. You can watch boats coming and going.

GermanyI've paid 100-250k for my hotel rooms in Laos, and for 500+ a night i feel it's too much, even with the special concept . it's just.. it's all a bit rundown, the bridge to come hangs by ropes, the bathroom door doesn't close, the room doesn't lock, there's holes in the wall, the references with free kayaks and bikes this was not offered, the breakfast is good but simple, etc. all not reasons not to stay, the place is amazing, but especially in low season I was alone and I think it would have been better to come and just negotiate a good price for both parties. especially for a few nights. but definitely stay!!!
It's stunning at the water. the staff is very nice and they do their best with the English that they have to make conversation. the room is lovely, and it's very clean, there were only minimal bugs/roaches even though we're directly on the water. you can go straight for a swim. the town is a little walk, and it's directly next to the bus station which is good with your luggage. there's good restaurants next door and also a happy bar in case that's your thing. at night they light the path to the place so you dont fall
