Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomTBH we loved everything. The only thing would be the ability to buy a drink in the evening and watch the sunset by the river but i suspect as we visited in low season the reason the bar wasn’t open.
Such a welcoming place. Henry and his staff made us all very welcome. Position on the Mekong is stunning and perfect for the sunset. The breakfast was delicious and different option daily. The swimming pool is massive and you can actually swim proper lengths in it. Also only 10 mins drive into the town. Highly recommend staying here

United KingdomThe location on the river, the rustic feel with lots of cool artefacts and very kind staff that couldn’t do enough for you.
The resort was unique with lots of different accommodation and areas to sit. It was rustic, interesting and very relaxing. The view from the restaurant was right on the river and perfect. All the staff were so kind, they arranged trips, helped us with transport into town and sorted washing. I would highly recommend the resort and would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful location, with the nicest staff, very friendly and welcoming owner and a collection of unique wooden houses turned into hotel rooms. Highly recommended!

United StatesWe absolutely loved our stay at On The Mekong! The property is beautiful, peaceful, and perfectly located right on the river. Henry, the owner, and his kind, welcoming staff have created a real sense of community that made us feel right at home. After a very comfortable first night, we were generously offered a free upgrade to one of the newer, larger units overlooking the lovely pool. The room was rustic, but very cozy, clean, and thoughtfully designed, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The staff also arranged private excursions for us at very reasonable prices, including a memorable boat trip down the Mekong and a visit to the nearby waterfall. Everything was handled smoothly and with a smile. We’ve been traveling and homeschooling for a couple of years now, and this was definitely one of our favorite weeks. Luang Prabang is a charming town with a vibrant night market and a laid-back vibe that reminded us of Thailand decades ago. If you're planning a visit to Luang Prabang, we can’t recommend On The Mekong enough. It's a special place run by special people— we’re already dreaming of coming back!

United StatesThe property is wonderful. It is in a great location just outside of the main drag on a beautiful stretch of the river. The owner, Henry is incredibly knowledgeable about the region having spent over 40 years working for the state department so he provides really interesting insights. And his team is so helpful and full of great energy. Breakfast was great every morning. And last the pool is amazing after a day of hiking around the mountains.

HungaryIt is not that I did not like it, just you need to understand that this is not a five star hotel with marble halls. It is very close to nature.
It was just by the Mekong. Really nice place, excellent staff. And it was a good deal.

The resort is amazing, and lots of accommodation options, particularly for families, are fantastic. The room sizes are huge, which was really nice. The breakfast was amazing, beautiful omelette, with baked goods and fresh fruit. I craved a western style coffee, and they made a perfect cappuccino. My kids loved the huge pool, even inspired my child to get up early and do some laps. The staff were so eager to help along with the real interesting owner Henry, which was quick to accommodate and needs. Thanks for the great stay!

IrelandLoved everything about it.
Staff, accommodation, pool all top notch. Sitting a couple of meters from the mighty Mekong is just a humbling experience. The sounds of nature, crickets, birds and bamboo crackling was just surreal. Lovely breakfast, tuk-tuks provided into Luang Prabang when needed. This is not a place for suits and high heels, this is a place to relax, admire and sleep in authentic Laos design homes in a natural Laotian setting. The owner - Henry - has put so much into this place and his stories and personality are wonderful. Will return.

United StatesDefinitely bring a lot of bug spray. We loved seeing cats, but wish they were taken care of better. I would love to come back and run a spay/neuter campaign!
Lovely tranquil little oasis right next to the Mekong. The owner Henry is incredibly friendly and easy-going. He clearly cares not only about the property and guests, but also the staff (most of whom have been there for years and who get free room, board, healthcare, and education for their children). Breakfast is freshly cooked and served right next to the Mekong. You can also order dinner to dine next to the river. Rooms are comfortable and exquisitely decorated. Excellent air-conditioning and fans. We saw heaters in the room for when it gets cold. Comfortable soft blankets and towels (I hate when hotels have the rough threadbare towels - these were the fluffiest I've ever felt!). Pool was heated and open 24/7. Staff helped with booking of excursions for reasonable price. There was a free tuk-tuk into town after sunset. Bikes were available to rent. It is incredibly chill. If you want high-class luxury, this might not be the place for you, but if you are laid-back, it's perfect.

United KingdomWe loved everything!
We stayed at this resort for two nights and absolutely loved it! The room was beautiful, as well as the whole grounds including the pool and breakfast area. It is a lovely place to stay just outside of Luang Prabang’s centre, with the free shuttle into the centre running during the day making it so easy to get into town. The best part about staying on this resort is the amazing staff! Nee was so lovely and helpful to us, as well as Henry and all of the other staff we met! Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful and it really felt like a family there! The breakfast and coffees were also Sep Lai!! Thank you so much!

The view from the dining area. Just spectacular. The pool was lovely The room hit my key points for luxury: comfy bed, good shower, good a/c and quiet at night. The location was good. Just out of town, but easy access to local shops. The staff will help you with Food Panda too. Free shuttle to town. Just pay Kip50k for the tuktuk home. Breakfast was good and fresh! Short stay and want to see both the river and falls in one day? Ask for Manifa Tours. Overall vibe? Just so relaxed/chill!!

United StatesThey are working on a solution to the loud speaker of the school next door. It doesn't usually go into the night, so not really a big issue.
We very much enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. I requested a top sheet as the duvet was too hot for me and they brought one right away. The room was large and clean, with a sofa to relax on and plenty of space to put away clothes. The air con worked great during our hot stay! Breakfast was ample and we were offered a different dish (they rotate the menu) each morning along with lots of fruit, cold cereal, coffee/tea and specialty coffee's as well. The tours offered through the resort are a good deal. The resort is a bit out of the main town, but they offer free transport to town. The pool was a wonderful respite from the heat! Very enjoyable stay overall!

United StatesBeautiful compound of well-tended historic buildings outfitted with comfort in mind. We can’t say enough good things about the cheerful staff—they are gems. We actually extended to stay here 3 different times in our month of exploring Laos, it’s a great place to come back to after being out in rural areas. Loved being next door to the temple, and right on the Mekong.

QatarThe only small complaint I had were our bathroom/s - both large and lovely but separate from our room downstairs. Not convenient during the night navigating the steep wooden stairs in the dark.
The setting by the river was wonderful... especially for the sunset view. The new pool was is big enough to properly swim and cool. Great for some down time after being a tourist. Our room was huge with two bathrooms for our use downstairs. Breakfast was really tasty with lots of variety - fruit, cereal, the tastiest blueberry croissants, eggs, bread, salad. Tea and coffee were available for free throughout our stay in the dining area. The free shuttle to town was perfect to grab when needed. The staff were really helpful and friendly - mostly before our arrival through booking.com I received a lot of information and assistance.

We loved everything. On the Mekong feels more like a small friendly village, where everyone looks after you, than a resort. The accommodation is really unique and very comfortable. The location is stunning and the staff could not do enough for us. The whole place feels relaxed but very well run. Breakfast by the river was a highlight. Henry the owner clearly cares a lot for the country, the heritage and people of Laos and is always around to chat and give any help. I’ve travelled to many places and this was absolutely one of my favourite.
