Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt can be difficult to find the location because you may have to be dropped off further away during the night market if you arrive when that’s going. Make sure to walk into the night market. Don’t use the address provided by Booking.com to locate the property. It takes you to the wrong location. Use the name of the property and search on Google maps. I see it as Luang Prabang Residence (The Boutique Villa) on Google maps. It’s right next door to a temple where they do Alms giving. You may need to lug bags for 5 minutes to get to the hotel depending on where you get dropped off, and you cannot drive right up to it unless you have a scooter. When we were leaving around 11am it was a clear walk (no more morning market) to the front of the Wat where a bunch of minivans and tuktuks were waiting in case you need a ride. Mosquitoes are a fact in this country and because the doors open directly to the outside you have to be careful not to let them in. This is not a criticism of the hotel. The room can stay pretty humid so if you plan to wash your own clothing and hang it in the room it’s not ideal, but things will still dry up after some time depending on the material. I would not recommend washing the day before leaving the room. Booking a taxi to the train station was at a marked up price if booked through the hotel. If you can find your own negotiated ride it will be cheaper. But we are talking only a few dollars difference. I reused my driver from when we arrived because I got his WhatsApp contact. It was 180k kip vs 250k for a private taxi for 3. Can’t blame the hotel for trying to make a living.
Great breakfasts made by staff. Quiet location except for sometimes drums playing, maybe from the Wat/temple, once at 4am on a Tuesday that woke me but I am a light sleeper. Heavy sleepers did not wake from it. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. The AC is quite strong. Not too loud either. We had an extremely spacious room with lots of chairs and tables. We are small people and could have fit on the larger bed with all 3 of us (family with a 12 yr old) space wise, though having the extra bed was very nice. The beds were very comfortable. I liked that the shower was separate from the toilet area and the restroom was extremely spacious. Very nice look to the grounds as it seems well maintained despite being in an older location. They set up a tour for us to Kuang Si and Pak Ou which was a great experience. Had to book the afternoon prior. Morning market is right outside the entrance. Night market is on the main road which is a short distance as well. Perfect location for the markets and very close walking distance to Mount Phousi and the National Museum.

Isle of ManStaff were so lovely, and immediately we were greeted with refreshing welcome drinks and fruit. We were amazed by the twin room (we each got a double bed!) and found the room and ensuite to be so luxurious. Sad that we could only be there for one night, and we would definitely be back in the future.

BelgiumLovely hotel near the Mekong River, near the Shompoo cruise boat departures, next to the morning market. Host was incredibly nice/kind and offered us a welcome drink. We didn't have time to have breakfast so he packed everything for us. Rooms are very nice, clean and family room is big. Fridge and airco in room. Don't hesitate.

United KingdomThe breakfast was very basic - just a small selection of cooked choices and some fresh fruit, and instant coffee despite excellent local ground coffee being available in the shops. The two guys on reception were friendly and helpful, but the female staff were not friendly.
A perfect location off the main road. Right outside the entrance is the fascinating morning market used by local people, and the evening market is on the main road a short distance away. It is a beautiful old building and the room was large and comfortable. Easy walking distance to a number of beautiful wats, Mount Phousi (lovely for sunrise), the Royal Palace museum, the Ock Pop Tok Living Craft Centre, and the Traditionl Arts and Ethnology Centre. Unfortunately the scenic bamboo bridge across the Nam Khan river has been destroyed.

Best accommodation we stayed in SE Asia. The employees were very kind and helpful. Had a long travelday and we were welcomed with a nice refreshing drink when we arrived at the accommodation. Rooms itself are just ‘wow’. Super big, superclean,.. Everything is present (even an hairdryer), shower is nice and big, there is a fridge.. just amazing place, no noice or light in the room whatsoever. There is a lot of choice for the included breakfast as well, super nice! We checked out at 11am, but were still able to use the free bikes to wander around in the city until 4.30pm (they even signed us a map). They took care of our luggage in the meantime. Highly recommend for whoever wants to stay in Luang Prabang!

AustraliaThis is an amazing place to stay. It is a little slice of heaven in the middle of the town. It was so quiet that you wouldn’t believe that the bustling morning markets were right outside the entrance and a busy main street wasn’t far away. It is right behind the temple and set in a lovely garden. Breakfast, whilst it wasn’t a buffet like we had been used to on our trip so far, was delicious and less wasteful, which is admirable. Thom was amazing and went out of his way to help us. The room itself was very spacious and had everything that we required. This accommodation is walking distance to the main street where the night markets are held. The giving of arms to the monks ceremony at sunrise is also at the end of the little laneway as is the beautiful Mekong River where you can easily pop on a boat to do a cruise.
