How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Great host, very helpful. Great location and nice to have a simple breakfast included. bunk beds are solid, everything is clean. Came here the times in a row as I cross crossed the area.

Amazing! The lady working in this hostel she is amazing, her english it’s perfect, and she is so nice!! The breakfast it’s egg with bread, perfect for a “free” breakfast after we wake up! The cleanest hostel i have ever stayed in SEA. My bus was very late to arrive in town, but she left us a way to get in without any problem. I will stay one more night there after finishing the loop.

The only thing which could have made the stay over even better would be to install one more curtain at the end of your feet/head. And there are no lockers but Ann said she never had a problem and I also felt like my stuff is safe.
This is a one woman show - Ann is taking care of everything and she's doing a great job at it! Everything is very clean, the breakfast was super yummy and Ann and I had a long conversation which I've really enjoyed :-) Also, the location of the hostel is good. You have many restaurants in the area and the Mekong is just a few minutes away. In the morning, you can choose between four options for breakfast and I loved my rice soup! If you want to arrange something for your next stay there is an office right next to Anou Hostel.

Very clean dorms and bathrooms, air conditioning overnight and the breakfast was basic, but good! The owner is super friendly, speaks very good English, can answer any questions and has great tips for Thakhek and the Loop! I really enjoyed my conversations with her! The location is great, right in the center and a good starting point for the Loop! I can highly recommend the hostel!

There are very few things that could be improved a little, like adding mosquito nets, or a vegan breakfast option, but seriously, you'll always find something to complain about if you look close enough.
Anne is super nice and takes great care of her place. Everything - rooms, sheets, floors, toilets, etc. - is super clean, all the time. The hostel is in an old family house which adds a special charme. There is free drinking water, coffee and tea all day, the breakfast is included most of he time and quite nice, and the wifi is working well. Anne offers only one dormitory on booking, but there are one or two more, and several double rooms which you can rent, just walk in and ask. The dorm beds have curtains and a reading light. The best thing about the place is Anne who is so nice and speaks English very well. Do sit down with her for a cup of tea or coffee and pick her brain about e.g. Laos culture or the history of her hostel!

The owner is truly the kindest! She speaks english fluently and is always ready to give you recommendations if you ask. Everything is super clean. From the dormrooms to the common area to the bathrooms. Really clean ! The beds are comfortable and all of them (even the top bunks) have a curtain to provide some privacy. You can also get your laundry done and get breakfast at Bami Hostel. We did the Loop, starting it Thakhek and we were able to leave our big bagpacks at the hostel. We stayed there again after the Loop and I 100% would do it again.

Everything was great.
Super clean and cozy hostel in the center of Thakhek's touristy area, 1 minute from the riverfront and close to many shops, restaurants, tourist offices. Owner is the friendliest lady who speaks fluent English, genuinely enjoys chatting with guests and giving recommendations and other info. Comfortable mattresses, fast wifi, hot showers, clean bathrooms, free coffee and tea all day, free luggage storage.

Super friendly staff and good location. Helpful with information about buses, which saved us a lot of time. Breakfast included is simple but good. Clean. We stayed here in the beginning and the end of Thakhek Loop in both dorms and private room. Recommend the dorms if you like AC, but the private room is fine.

The rooms are spacious and everything is very clean. Great location in town. The owner, Ann, was super kind and had lots of information about the Thakhek Loop!
