How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There's nothing we didn't like. The unit is exactly like the photos and had everything to make us comfortable.

Verified reviewThe room is really good, clean, big, quiet, with good Wifi, comfortable sofa, good kitchen woth microwave, fridge, air conditioner, hot shower, a small private garden, awesome owner, best price, and not too far from the city center, also not far to go to bus station and ferry pier ( around 1 km ). By this price, this is definitely one of the best stay of my life. Many thanks to Miss Ymak, you are the best!!!

Verified reviewEasy to get to from airport or town. Quiet. Self contained and even had a washing machine. Coffee and water provided. Back up water tank in case the water cuts out (which can sometimes happen on the island)
Could have been a tiny bit closer to town but was still only a 10 min walk down the hill anyway.

Wonderfully quiet, tucked away in a peaceful cul-de-sac, yet just a pleasant 10 to 15-minute walk from the town center. Convenient street parking right out front. The host is incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive — truly a joy to meet. Staying here made the whole trip even more special.

Verified reviewLocation might not be in the centre but I enjoyed the view and the fact that it is in a residential neighbourhoud, so you get to see how local people live. Lovely host, spacious apartment with all you need for a comfortable stay. There was even a washing machine! A rarity. I had an amazing time and can fully recommend to stay here!

Verified reviewI stayed here for 7 nights. The studio is around a 15-minute walk from the waterfront of Basseterre (around 1 kilometer walk). The studio is large with a kitchen, bathroom and a comfortable bed. Makeda, the hostess, is very responsive and helpful in case something is needed.
The building is rather old and the windows do not close tightly. As a result, I could hear barking dogs from the neighborhood all night, every night. The early morning that I left to catch the ferry to Saint Martin, 3 dogs were loose in the neighborhood and they aggressively started chasing me. If it was not for a local person that was driving by that stopped to help me, I would not be writing this review today, and I mean this very seriously. The neighborhood is infested with very aggressive, nasty dogs. Do not even thing of walking around the neighborhood at dark... I also had a huge problem with the gutters of the house dripping water on the tin roof of the studio. They fixed it the 3rd day I was there but then it continued making loud noise all night, I woke up every half an hour and was glad to get out of there to go to another place to rest..
Greetings Vic Thank you for your review. I do appreciate all comments as this helps me to identify where improvements (within my remit) can be made. Regarding the dogs; I’m a bit surprised about this. There are dogs in the neighbourhood but no one has ever complained about being attacked. The dogs do sometimes bark but usually retreat once approached – perhaps it’s a case of their bark being worse than their bite. I have had my 12-year-old grandchild stay and she has often walked down this same road without encountering any issue. Additionally, there haven’t been any complaints from other guests; I am sorry that this has been your experience. I will however, speak with the neighbours in an attempt to eliminate any future re-occurrences. I will say at this point that the dogs in the neighbourhood are usually behind gates and I suppose are used more as a deterrent to any possible opportunists – the others that I see roaming around, which are not many, tend to be tame. Regarding the guttering; yes, the building is old and I am aware that some repair is needed and this is indeed incorporated in my future plans. Steps had been taken to fix the problem with the guttering albeit a temporary measure, and I did ask if the problem persisted at which I was told that it was okay at that time. I do encourage guests to always notify me if there are issues as I want them to have a comfortable and positive experience. Kind regards
