The owner is very friendly and there’s a bar. If you have a lot of free time and want to sunbathe in the evening this place is perfect.

The plant leaves blog the lake view so I couldn’t enjoy the morning view at all.

Everything.... It was an awesome stay. The owner lady is super calm and friendly. The music put me into a blissful mood on the river. Not party hard crowd. I loved jumping in off the ramp. The food is good and not expensive. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful place, amazing views, beautiful sunsets and the best hospitality ever. Loved this place. Perfect for some rest and relax, with town a short Grab or scooter ride. Just what I needed :)

Beautiful spot. All the staff are lovely couldnt do more for me. The owner tom is super chill. Came here on recommendation and it didn't disappoint! Epic spot on the river. Great food reasonably priced. Great value all round I'll be back for sure.

The location directly at the riverside is so amazing. You can just hop in the river or sit there watching the sun go down. Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. I stayed in a bungalow which was pretty basic but featured everything I needed (hot water shower included).

Clean and comfortable and located one of the most beautiful locations in kampot. Staff are friendly and so are the dogs. Food is great and sunset is spectacular.

Really chilled place to relax by the river. Owners Tom & Ash and staff Max were super helpful to ensure we had the best time in Kampot. They made you feel at home.

We chose to stay at The Hideaway for its setting, right on the river and also based on all the reviews of its awesome bar and social vibe, without being an actual backpackers. The two things were spot on for us! At all times of day, the bar/restaurant is the heart of the place, overlooking the river, with many seating areas and options, plus a floating bamboo terrace with cushions and parasols. Sunset here is a real show! The food menu was a good mix of western and Khmer food and extensive all-day breakfast options such as burritos and bagels. All delicious and great portions. Special mention for the jalapeño balls! Cheap kayak and moto rental that was easy to access/organise got us out and about with ease. Unlike other guesthouses we've stayed, the moto rental was through an actual rental company (Red Bull Tours) rather than the property's own. This meant there was actually paperwork filled out (they also kept one of our passports locked in a safe until we returned) and also that the moto itself was in relatively good condition! Last but not least, the owners and staff (and their cute, cuddly cats and dogs) create a warm, welcoming vibe. Everyone definitely likes a party but while still providing fantastic, professional service.

No one likes being woken by road, boat or other morning noise (and it can be a cacophony) but after reading previous reviews, I came prepared with earplugs. Sorted! The ONLY thing I would change and I feel would be a quick fix, is to more firmly screw in or replace entirely, the lock to Bungalow 1. I did appreciate the good on-site security, gate, cameras etc but in trying to take accountability for our own valuables by locking the door every time we left the bungalow, it felt like a waste of time as we had to physically retighten the screws holding the lock in place. Anyone wanting to enter could just rip it off the frame.

It is a great place to see the beautiful sunset and socialize. It's right beside the river for swimming, jumping off the platform. There's a full restaurant there and the food was delicious. Lots of lovely dogs and cats to interact with if you're into animals.

The huts are right beside a busy road so you can hear the traffic. Earplugs would be good. It is a hut after all, so expect ants in the room even though hideaway has a strict rule to not eat in the room. There was not a mosquito net in the room, although we did not get a bit at night.

One of thr best hostels I've ever stayed in. Comfy, clean, friendly staff, great location, good value and super tasty food.

The water front room not money worthy

Great location, right on the river! The bungalows had a rustic feel, but that was to be expected.

It was hot. The ceiling fan wasn't placed in the most optimal area in the bungalow, so it didn't reach the whole entire bed.

Amazing location right on the riverbank, wonderful and friendly and helpful staff, Karl and Ralf are so cute and they really care about the customer. Super relaxed environment, wifi is strong if you need to work! You can rent scooter and kayak, book your tours and transports, anything really they'll help you out!
