Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe hotel does not have beach access or a pool. No sun loungers. No sun umbrellas. No shaded area outside. No cushions on outdoor seating - very uncomfortable and unable to enjoy the outdoor areas. Never seen anyone sitting in garden or sunbathing the entire time we were there! Hard bed matrass, but thank fully the staff changed it for me after two sleepless nights and a bad back. VERY frugal and disappointing breakfast. Slow service, allow 20 minutes for a tea or coffee and 40 minutes for a meagre omelette IF the restaurant is empty and longer if not. It is nearly always empty however as, it appears, most guests do not take a room including breakfast as it costs extra $20 per day. For less than this amount two hearty breakfasts can be bought from Bongs at the Pier. We would NOT recommend taking a room with breakfast at this hotel. Sea view rooms look amazing, albeit more expensive, BUT are not detached, rather semi detached which is not obvious from the photographs online. For the same money app$75 / night we could have stayed on Saracen at a beach front hotel with a breakfast buffet included. Mpay Bai where the hotel is located, is not linked by roads to any other part of the island. Boats costing $5/person each way ($20 total for 2 people) are available 10.30am returning at 5pm visiting Saracen, Lazy or Sunset Beaches that are linked by roads. We booked seven nights and wish we had only stayed three nights tbh.
We stayed in Garden Villa 3, a nice sized, clean, detached bungalow, big bathroom, great air conditioning & very quiet. Incredible sunset views from roof top viewing point and restaurant. So much so that tour groups visit the hotel, for up to a couple of hours every day from 4.30pm until after sunset, for sundowner drinks. Cocktails cost US$5, fruit smoothie is $3. Buggy / taxi available to residents to take up and down to beach in Mpai Bay. Staff were great! Joe, Mr Mai, Robert and a lady on reception the name of whom I cannot recall, sorry.

New ZealandThe resort is quite far from the beach and pier (10-15 min walk) and the road isn’t paved, it’s very rocky which can be unpleasant to travel on. The power also went out at least once every day I stayed here and it took a couple of minutes for the generator to kick in (and this made the sound of the generator fairly obvious). There were no curtains on one of the windows in the holiday house I stayed in, and this window also didn’t lock.
The facilities were great, and the staff were fantastic- very cheerful and helpful. The view from the bar was amazing, especially at sunset. The free transport to and from the beach was great, especially with my bag

NetherlandsIt is a large resort with different complexes and rooms in a large and beautiful garden situated at the end of a very steep and bad road. Hard 30min walk with lugguge is not doable. Despite that we asked them several times for pick up from the pier they didnot. After our complain they created pick up for every customer. We booked with breakfast in advance and we where surprised to get just one dish and one coffee. When we asked for fresh fruit and extra cofffee what is very normal in whole Asia they ask for extra charge. We where disappointed despite renting their must expensive bungalow.
We had for 3 nights the waterfront bungalow with amazing cliff and seaview and beautiful sunset every night just from our terrace. Spacious room with beautiful bathroom. Good matras on bed, not so hard as normally expected in Asia. Staff and manager are very nice as expected in Cambodia but speak bad English and create unclarity which after a short discussion will be solved. Try their food wat was all very tasty from a beautiful restaurant and seaview.

Ireland- the wifi doesn't work in the sea view rooms, it's far from the reception. They need another WiFi for this part of the hotel - lighting is very bright , no lamps or option to have some lights on. It's 100% white light or nothing.
- large, comfortable room - quiet - shuttle to the town - cleaned and restocked every day - spacious grounds, well maintained

The room was fantastic with beautiful sea views. Everything was clean and in good condition. AC was provided and effective. The staff were extremely helpful and picked us up from the ferry as well as taking us to dinner and collecting us again. The location is a little up the beaten track but it has peace and quiet as well as a great cocktail bar/restaurant with the best sunset views in M'pay. We wished we could stay another night!

United KingdomDon’t be put off by the hill top location of this hotel. There is a shuttle bus that will take you to the pier and village.
We stayed in a very spacious room, with great sea view. The property has a large roof terrace and gardens which can be used by guests. The steps down to the sea take you straight to a great snorkelling area. The sunsets from the bar are wonderful.

ThailandWe didn't end up trying the restaurant they have on site simply because prices were higher than what we wanted to spend. That being said, I don't think the resort should be faulted for this because we wanted the authentic food from the locals who live on the island. Maybe if the prices were a bit lower we'd have enjoyed the restaurant.
ThmorDa Resort sits on the highest point of the M'Pai Bay town area. From the private rooftop you can get a perfect view of the sunset. Rooms are pristine with everything you need. The trek to the Hotel is a bit of an uphill hike but thankfully ThmorDa has a shuttle cart that is seemingly always ready to take you down to the beach or back up to the resort. We met the owner who was very accommodating and went above and beyond in helping us with any concerns we had. He also would meet with us on the roof during sunset and make sure everyone was having a good time. Keep in mind this is not the backpacker experience like most of the island. This is a resort in all aspects.

United KingdomIt was all amazing! Just wish they had a bigger menu at the restaurant but the food was amazing regardless! Bit of a walk up a hill but they pick you up and drop off at the pier with a buggy.
We loved it! We had the villa and it was lovely, great room, great view and very comfortable stay. Even hd a balcony on top which was always sunny. The staff went above and beyond to help. They even caled other hotel for us when the wind meant we couldnt get there and helped us get back to the main land.
